AW: [Zope] Create my own edit form
by Breitenreicher, Marc 12 Mar '02

Unfortunatelly, it not the solution. It returns: AttributeError: document_src Does anyone know, if I perhaps have to use the document_src function like this: URL/mydocument/document_src() I'm not sure. The Zope Book API doesn't say it right. > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Maik Jablonski [SMTP:maik.jablonski@uni-bielefeld.de] > Gesendet am: Dienstag, 12. Create my own edit form
by Breitenreicher, Marc 12 Mar '02

Hi community, I'm trying to build my own edit form for DTML-Documents. Therefore I need to get the unrendered data of a document to print out in a textarea-box. How can I do that? I tried something like <textarea name="data:string" cols="50" rows="10"> <dtml-var "_[mydocument]"> </textarea> The variable 'mydocument' is the document I want to edit. But this returns the rendered dtml-code, only html-tag stay as they were. Who can help me? Thanks in advance Marc

SQL compare to form value -HELP-
by Sean Kelley 12 Mar '02

12 Mar '02

I am trying to test whether or not 3 SQL fields are equal to a form field. I am doing this within an SQL method. (I am trying to learn zope and Mysql at the sam time) How does one do this? Here is where I am going with this so far: I have these listed as arguments: Breeds Breed1 Breed2 Breed3 SELECT * from Ranch WHERE Breeds = <dtml-sqltest name="Breed1" type="string"> OR Breeds = <dtml-sqltest name="Breed2" type="string"> or Breeds = <dtml-sqltest name="Breed3" type="string"> Breeds is the name of the form input and I want to test and see if it equals any one of the 3 fields Breed1, Breed2, or Breed3 and return all of the row if there is a match. -- Sean

Newby question: Finding unique values from a ZCatalog, matching a criteria
by Dianne Van Dulken 12 Mar '02

12 Mar '02

Hi, This is probably going to be a laughably easy question for most of you, but it is confusing me no end. I have a ZCatalog set up for a list of merchants. They can be active, inactive or pending. The merchant name isn't unique, as there can be one merchant in books, same one in DVDs, etc. What I am trying to do is to return a unique list of all merchants who are active. If I use <dtml-in "CatalogMerCat(sort_by='merchant', status='Active')"> I get all active ones, but are getting Merchant1, Merchant1, Merchant2, etc. If I use <dtml-in "CatalogMerCat.uniqueValuesFor('merchant')"> I am getting Merchant1, Merchant2, etc, whether they are active or not. I tried one after the other, but the outer one is the only one returned. I also tried <dtml-in "CatalogMerCat.uniqueValuesFor('merchant'),status='Active'"> (and various different location for the status), but it keeps on giving me an error. Could anyone suggest what I ought to be doing? It seems like such an easy thing to do, but I just can't work out what I should be doing. Cheers Di

how to dynamically define a ZMySQL connection
by alt 12 Mar '02

12 Mar '02

Does anybody know how I could dynamically edit an existing ZMySQL connection object, within a HotFix product or some python based method? Reason I ask is sometimes the mysql server will move to a different machine. I'd prefer not to login to Zope and make the change, but rather edit some external file that defines the server name. If there is a way to access the various Data.fs objects from a HotFix type product, I think this would be possible. Thanks, Albert

RE: [Zope-dev] variables in zope (beginner question)
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 12 Mar '02

Please consider directing this to zope(a)zope.org, not zope-dev(a)zope.org... I've cc'd that list. The DTML you have is wrong (you can't nest DTML tags), if you use DTML for logic, things can get messy. Consider putting your code in a python script and call that from DTML or Page templates... You don't need to daclare a variable if you are using a python script, just assign a value to it in your loop. Perhaps the Python Tutorial at python.org might be a good place to start. Doing this kind of thing in DTML is a bit more messy: my suggestion, do it in a Python script. Management interface for Extensions/Import folder
by Juergen R. Plasser / Hexagon 12 Mar '02

12 Mar '02

I don't know if this was ever discussed on this list but I would like to have a management interface for the Extensions and the import folder in a future version of Zope (maybe 2.6?). Are there any reasons why this has not been implemented yet? It would make Zope completely manageable through the web interface. -- Juergen Plasser plasser(a)hexagon.at

Mini-HOWTO: Zope + MySQL under Windows
by Derek Simkowiak 11 Mar '02

11 Mar '02

Ever try to get a MySQL server and Zope running under MS-Windows? Here's what I had to do. And no, I didn't find this documented anywhere. This was a bit challenging as I haven't really used MS-Windows for anything other than gaming in about 5 years. 1. Install and start Zope 2. Install and start MySQL server (I'm using mysqld-opt.exe) 3. Install ZMySQLDA (*) You need a Windows program that can handle tarballs, as ZMySQLDA, like most Zope "Products", is not distributed as a .zip file 4. Restart Zope 5. Notice that the ZMySQLDA Product is showing as "broken" in the Zope Control Panel, because you are missing the MySQL-python interface library (distributed separately) 6. Try to install MySQL-python (filename "MySQL-python-0.9.1.win32-py2.1.exe") (*) This will fail, because the Windows installer program will only unpack the files if it can find a "Python Installation" directory to unpack it into. There is no way to specify your Zope Python install as it will only let you choose a Python install that is finds in the registry (I *think*). I.e., you fscking NEED Python to get access to the files. A .zip file was not available for download. 7. Download and install the win32 Python 2.1.2 (to match your Zope 2.5.0's Python) 8. Now install MySQL-python (it should work this time) 9. Restart Zope, and notice that the ZMySQLDA Product is broken, because it is not finding the MySQL-python interface library 10. At this point, you'll need to either (a) have payed attention to the directories the Windows Installers used, or (b) go surfing around your hard drive until you find where Zope, Python, and MySQL-python were placed. For me it was (b). 11. Identify the files needed for MySQL-python. Since MS-Window's package management system doesn't provide an "rpm -ql" equivalent, I guessed this to be C:\Python21\ _mysql.pyd _mysql_exceptions.py _mysql_exceptions.pyc _mysql_exceptions.pyo MySQLdb/ [dir with all contents] ...then I copied those files into the directory C:\Program Files\Demo\lib\python That "Demo" is the name of the directory Zope was installed into. 12. Restart Zope. Is is working? Seems to be... I can talk to the database from Zope. It is correct and stable? Fsck if I know. --Derek

Re: [Zope3-dev] Offer to Help Write User Documentation/Tutorials
by Eron Lloyd 11 Mar '02

I too, would also like to assist in making sure that Zope3 is well-documented from the start. Particularly the API docs. If you look at projects that are very well documented, like QT, you can understand a large part of the reason why they are quite successful. This would guve me a chance to better understand the new code, too. A good living document that I always wished I had was an explanation of the code's structure, where config files and persistant storage folders are, etc. Looking at the CVS checkouts, it looks to be *much* different in Zope 3. Just list some things that need work, and I'll see what I can do.
