Mm.. could be, but as far as I am concerned, I would most likely pay for example $100 / year for a good support list, where I would know that there is a person dedicated for answering people's questions and this way also updating somekind of knowledge pool. The procedure could be something like this: 1) People who use zope commercially would propably have no problem coughing up $100 / year. Let's be overly optimsitic and say that there would be 100 subscribers, which would make up $10 000 for Zope Corp. 2) Zope corp. would then use this small amount of money to put someone's worktime into keeping up this list and updating answers into free knowledgepool. Some of the questions posted to the list would propably be found in the database, so the work would be copy & paste and some minor editing. Also other persons on the list would contribute to the problems posted by others - thus contributing more to the knowledgepool. 3) Everyone outside this list, would be able to use the knowledgepool free and this way also benefit from all the answers... Ok. This would only work - if there would actually be atleast those 100 users paying the small fee to help the cause. This would only work - if that money would actually be used to have someone answer questions and maintain some kind of better answer database. Or am I just too idealistic? I wouldn't mind contibuting to this kind of thing financially if I would know that there are plenty of others too! It means more help and money in long run also to me, if I can help Zope become more popular and better product -- and get better help to my problems. -huima

I need a clue

I'm trying to do a rather simple thing, I think, but I can't get it to work right. If someone can point out where I'm going astray, it would be appreciated. I'm trying to iterate over a list of files in a LocalFS subdirectory, and then write out some html if the files end in .gif or .jpg. Something like this: <dtml-in "images[FSSession['LoginCompanyImagesPath']].fileIds()"> <dtml-if "_.string.find('sequence-item','.gif') >= 0 or _.string.find('sequence-item','.jpg') >= 0"> ..do some things if a .gif or .jpg file </dtml-if> </dtml-in> However, the find always returns -1, regradless of whether the sequence-item has .gif or.jpg in it. Mount Zope parts to local Linux file system

Hello, I'd like to mount parts of my Zope to local Linux file system on the same machine (no X installed). Found two projects on sourceforge: davfs and ftpfs http://dav.sourceforge.net/ http://ftpfs.sourceforge.net/ Did someone make any experience with this software (unstable etc.)? Or any other ideas how to do that? Second question: Is there any possibility to share parts of Zope with SAMBA? Failed to install Zope

Hello I just tried to install a Source-Distribution of Zope 2.5.0 on a System with self-compiled Python 2.2. But when calling any of the scripts wo_pcgi.py or w_pcgi.py the installation process ended in the 'Building extension-modules'-section with the message that it is trying to copy the file /usr/local/lib/python2.2/config/Makefile.pre.in which does not exist and therefor could not be copied. This results in a System Error 256 and the process breaks. All this is happening on Linux with a 2.4.17-Kernel. Maybe anyone has any hints, what I can do about. They are both available NOW or in the very near future (for new version of nuxworkflow). No need to wait for ZOPE3. Both are developped under contractual basis and will be made compliant with the cmf, hence with zope3 also. Maybe a specific mailing list could be created to discuss the important subject of workflow in zope. They will also be integrated with the coming groupzope, a full feature gropware system, also developped by Nuxeo for the Region of Brussels-Capitals, that is planned to be GPL and be available by next september. Strange pdf problem

Hi, We have a pdf file in our database, and there's a Problem with displaying it. Using the "native" Address http://multimedia.zawiw.uni-ulm.de/zope/solill/forum-guide.pdf both netscape 4.7 and mozilla 0.9.8 load the acrobat plugin, but don't display the file (the window just stays white or grey). I tested this with the linux versions, but one my users (the one who pointed me to this problem) is working with windows, and has the same problem. Fetching the via wget or via save-as right klick in a browser works fine, the retreived file can be viewed with acroread without problems. Also, accessing the document via https works fine, either through the management interface path https://multimedia.zawiw.uni-ulm.de/zmanager/zawiw/solill/forum-guide.pdf and via a https mapping of the native path https://multimedia.zawiw.uni-ulm.de/zope/solill/forum-guide.pdf - in both cases, netscape just displays the file via pdf plugin. Does anyone have any idea what's happening here? Feel free to try to download the file for yourself for diagnostic purposes. This really just sounds like byte-serving problems. Acroread, I believe just loads up enough of the doc to get an index of byte offsets for each page page and stops the download after the first page can be displayed - it doesn't have to load the whole doc. This, of course assumes that the HTTP server supports (correctly) byte-serving. What version of Zope is being used? The browser is still the one managing the TCP/IP and HTTP connections. It might be a problem with HTTP 1.1 chunks... If you have the time, do this: Do an ethereal sniff of a single (failed) PDF request, save that as a parsed, human-readable text file (I don't remember the ethereal options), and then post it somewhere via HTTP and send the URL to the mailing list. Are you asking whether standard Zope can accept an FTP login and, depending on the user ID presented, automatically do an FTP cd to the user's "home" folder, having determined where that is by computation from which acl_user folder their user ID is defined in? If so, I think the answer is probably no. howto sql-query directly from my products methods?

well, i could instantiate a bunch of zsql methods, each with its own query and then call them from my products methods. but how could i obviate the need to have these zsql methods and query directly? get pages from wiki with dtml or python

Hi: I want to get some information from a wiki page using either dtml or a python script. Thing is, when I do <dtml-var WikiPage> Sometimes the page is there, sometimes the page is not there (Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: WikiPage), and sometimes the page is there, but not _all_ there (seems like maybe it is an older version? hard to tell...) I get the same exact behaviour using print context.wiki.WikiPage return printed in a python script.
