Getting ZClass instances from Zope via XML-RPC ??

I am wondering how to get ZClass instances from Zope to a Java XML-RPC client. 1. I have (and please forgive the Java-like pseudocode; i'm new to Python) a product with a ZClass call Invoice (meta = "Invoice Main") class Invoice { String invoice_name int invoice_id date invoice_date } 2. I have a Python Script (named 'invoice') that goes: results=[] for object in context.Projects.objectValues('Invoice Main'): results.append(object) return results 3. When i test this script directly in Zope, i get: [<Project instance at 014A00F0>, <Project instance at 01832800>, <Project instance at 015A2D80>] 4. If i call this from my XML-RPC client, i get the following Java/Zope error: Unexpected Zope exception: cannot marshal <extension class Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper at 00C25140> objects org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: Unexpected Zope exception: cannot marshal <extension class Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper at 00C25140> org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: Unexpected Zope exception: cannot marshal <extension class Acquisition.Impl icitAcquirerWrapper at 00C25140> objects at org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcClient$Worker.execute(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcClient.execute(Unknown Source) at TreeExpandEventDemo.init(TreeExpandEventDemo.java:49) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) It seems that it's not getting actual instances, but references to them. I don't know. I am assuming that the results array of objects above should come back as a Java hashtable, per this page: http://xml.apache.org/xmlrpc/types.html Anyone explain what's going on and how i get the ZClass instances (or Python class instances) out of Zope and into my little applet?? Can't have custom 404 (NameNotFound) Errors?

Well, It appears (Zope 2.4) that one can't catch the NameNotFound Error? Is this true? Whenever I point to a non-existent page, the error message is not the standard_error_html, in fact it appears to be a message that is hard coded in the python code. newline_to_br without breaking source code

Hello, i want to use a textarea form input in a java script and also in html tags. Wenn i use the newline_to_br attribut it works fine in html, but it breaks the source code. This is no matter in html, but in javascript. In javascript i want only the <br> but no linebreak. Does anybody has an solution for my problem ? Thanks Harry

Hiii Harry Why don't u just use the tag newline_to_br when u need it...? Printable Web Forms and Dynamic Queries

Good Morning, I have a report with mulitple columns of data. Problem is that the report is too wide to print out. http://www.ajccc.org/Reports/Kbm/fsukmssy.htm . At the same time I would like the user to have control over the contents of the report. The contents is made up of raw data and calculated data. What would you guys (and gals) suggest if I needed multiple reports? Would Pluggable Brains be the most maintainable way of doing this? Thanks. Joseph

Thanks for the reply, but the Name error is in the UserFileFolder_add method when it is calling UserFileFolder.createInObjectManager. Any how, all I really wanted is was a WORKING example of how to add a ZClass to a folder in Python Script? Nothing more? Your website link did not work, either. It tells you which name is not found! As you surely understand this is an essential information. From your code above, I would expect "folder" is unknown. But that's probably because your just forgot to show us the definition of "folder"... The traceback suggests, "id" is unknown in "REQUEST". I expect that this is due to the fact, that "UserFileFolder_add" is a DTML method that is called wrongly (without the necessary 2 positional parameters). If this analysis is correct, then you should read the section "Calling DTML objects" in <http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html> For the future: When you report tracebacks, you should report "Error Type" and "Error Value", too. It's kind of convoluted but the end results are: ['data',''] instead of data I've resorted to creating a PythonScript which does this to the inherited data_variable: ************************************* import re request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE return re.sub('\'|\[|\]|\,','',request.data_variable); ************************************* And using this to clean the input data before running the query. It doesn't seem like I should have to resort to this.
