RE: [Zope] Python Script Question
by Chris A. Bruce 16 Feb '02

Thanks for the reply, but the Name error is in the UserFileFolder_add method when it is calling UserFileFolder.createInObjectManager. Any how, all I really wanted is was a WORKING example of how to add a ZClass to a folder in Python Script? Nothing more? Your website link did not work, either. Thanks, Chris -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Maurer [mailto:dieter@handshake.de] Sent: Friday, February 15, 2002 3:03 PM To: Chris Bruce Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Python Script Question Chris Bruce writes: > Can any one give me a working example of how to add a ZCLASS to a > folder in Python Script? It tells you which name is not found! As you surely understand this is an essential information. From your code above, I would expect "folder" is unknown. But that's probably because your just forgot to show us the definition of "folder"... The traceback suggests, "id" is unknown in "REQUEST". I expect that this is due to the fact, that "UserFileFolder_add" is a DTML method that is called wrongly (without the necessary 2 positional parameters). If this analysis is correct, then you should read the section "Calling DTML objects" in <http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html> For the future: When you report tracebacks, you should report "Error Type" and "Error Value", too. Christine, We've had some emergencies here and neither Craig or I remember what time/date you said the conf. call about this would be. Could you re-enlighten us ? >Sorry, I do not understand what does not work... >When you reply, please send it to the list. >I have an agressive spam filter that often drops messages send directly >to me. >Dieter The real issue I'm having is the format the form data is in when passed to the next form. (when the cgi form is on a results page from another cgi form) Dtml doc 1 --> includes form 1 only (A dtml-method containing a cgi form) Form 1 --> One element: date or ID for Zmysql Method 1 (query) supplied by user Zmysql Method 1 --> uses data from form 1 to lookup and display data.<-- works fine Dtml doc 2 --> display of data, and Form 2 (another dtml-method w/cgi form)<--works fine Form 2 --> One element: primary key value for Zmysql method 2 query to be supplied by user Zmysql Method 2 --> Look up values to fill form elements of form 3 <-- format changes here **** format change causes query (method 2) to fail (returns no records) However, if Form 2 is run by itself (not included on a results page) everything succeeds and data is passed in normal format. It's kind of convoluted but the end results are: ['data',''] instead of data I've resorted to creating a PythonScript which does this to the inherited data_variable: ************************************* import re request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE return re.sub('\'|\[|\]|\,','',request.data_variable); ************************************* And using this to clean the input data before running the query. It doesn't seem like I should have to resort to this.

install on solaris
by jesse wright 15 Feb '02

15 Feb '02

Sitting in limbo on this. I've followed the Install and Documentation to a T. I've ./install -u 'normaluser" i've set permission as the documentation advised. on the var directory to allow 'nobody' permission as well as on the 'inituser' This was so that i could ./start as root. This is so I culd serve pages through apache at a later date. For right now I am happy to let Zserver serve the Pages. When I run ./start everything looks like it starts fine. http started ftp started one more line about pcgi (even though I didn't ./start -p) and that is it. everything looks like it starts fine but when I try to go to http://mymachine.com:8080 or mymachine:8080/manage nothing comes up. Do I need to install PYTHON first? I thought binaries came with a precompiled python. I've been dealing with this for two weeks now with no progress. I would really appreciate any assistance on this. I can AIM if necessary. thnx. peace and balance J Tell Your Story to the World Make A Difference - Make TV www.cameraplanet.com Expose Yourself

PROBLEM(100) and Forking
by Micah Martin 15 Feb '02

15 Feb '02

Hello, I'd like to understand what exactly the errors mean that Zope writes to its stupid_log. There are mainly two messages that I find.. First: 2002-02-15T08:07:24 PROBLEM(100) Script (Python) Object "somePythonScript" needs to be recompiled. It seems that everytime a "Script (Python)" object is run, Zope generates this message. Is this normal or is there a real problem that I should be aware of? Second: 2002-02-15T08:07:26 ERROR(200) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Feb 15 02:07:26 2002: Aiieee! 2945 exited with error code: 11 ------ 2002-02-15T08:07:26 INFO(0) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Feb 15 02:07:26 2002: Houston, we have forked ------ 2002-02-15T08:07:26 INFO(0) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Feb 15 02:07:26 2002: Hi, I just forked off a kid: 3309 ------ 2002-02-15T08:07:26 INFO(0) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Feb 15 02:07:26 2002: Houston, we have forked This one is less common but it seems to be more drastic. What causes it? Does it cause Zope to restart everytime it occurs? Viewing ASCII Files through Zope
by Cavanagh, Eoin 15 Feb '02

15 Feb '02

Hi, How would I take an existing (file-system) directory structure and mediate that through Zope? I want to take an arbitrary file-system path and transform it to a url which can be accessed through Zope (to take advantage of authentication and possible decorate the file contents on the way through). This without having to add zope objects per file. e.g. url /a/b/file1 will render the ascii file at /a/b/c/d/file1 url /e/f/file2 will render the ascii file at /e/f/g/h/file2 I've trawled around without finding anything obvious. I imagine a slightly hacky use of standard_error_message could be made to work, but is there an alternative? Testing for Equality
by CLIFFORD ILKAY 15 Feb '02

15 Feb '02

Hi, I have a form which the user is supposed to indicate whether their residence is the same as their spouse's residence. If the mother and father live in the same residence, I want to skip the mother's address because we already have it. If the residence is not the same, I want the user to enter the mother's address. Here is how I implemented it. I have a form called maritalStatus on which the user selects from a radio button group their marital status and also selects Yes or No to the question about the residence address. The post method for that form is a folder name, forms, in which index_html is a form which is used to enter the father's info. This form receives a variable called SAME_RESIDENCE from the maritalStatus form. I need to pass SAME_RESIDENCE on from the father's form to the mother's form so I have a hidden field in the form which looks like this: <input type=hidden name=SAME_RESIDENCE.<dtml-var expr="_.getitem('SAME_RESIDENCE')">:record> The post method for the father's form is a folder called mothers which is contained within forms. Its index_html is the mother's info form. SAME_RESIDENCE is passed to it by the father's form in REQUEST.form. I am having difficulty with testing for the value of SAME_RESIDENCE. Here is the code I am using. <dtml-if expr="_.getitem('SAME_RESIDENCE')=='Y'"> Same residence <dtml-else> Not the same residence </dtml-if> The expression always evaluates false so I guess I am doing something wrong. For debugging purposes, I added the following to the top of the page: <p>Same Residence = <dtml-var expr="_.getitem('SAME_RESIDENCE')"></p> and the value of SAME_RESIDENCE changes appropriately as I select Yes or No on the maritalStatus form so I know that it is not the problem. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
