DCOracle2 for Oracle 9i

Hello, I'm having some difficulties building DCOracle2. The system I'm building it on is a Sun box running Solaris 2.8 (64-bit). The version of Oracle is 9i. Here is the output of the errors: gcc -shared build/temp.solaris-2.8-sun4u-2.2/dco2.o -L/export/oracle/lib -lclntsh -o build/lib.solaris-2.8-sun4u-2.2/dco2.so -Wl,-rpath,/export/oracle/lib ld: fatal: file /export/oracle/lib/libclntsh.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64 ld: fatal: file /export/oracle/lib: unknown file type ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to build/lib.solaris-2.8-sun4u-2.2/dco2.so collect2: ld returned 1 exit status error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 I have a very limited amount of knowledge on the inner workings of Oracle so any help at all would be appriciated. I have a setup with rewriting rules and ProxyPass rules to serve static images and serve different part of a site. I use a VirtualHostMonster and with Page Templates my URLs looks like: <a tal:attributes="href here/example.pt/absolute_url" src="example.pt">Example</a> <img tal:attributes="src here/static/images/example.gif/absolute_url" src="static/images/example.gif"> It works fine. Best Practice for Newsletter/eZine?

I need to develop for several clients a relatively simple-minded eZine/newsletter kind of thing. What we want is for anyone who has an Editor role to be able to post material through an HTML form where they provide the headline, the teaser, and the main story (something like what SquishDot does for articles) and, when they push a button, the story gets posted to their site and an email is triggered to all subscribers containing the teaser and a link to the full article. It did occur to me that I might be able to modify SquishDot to accomplish this in some way but I wanted to see first if anyone knew of an existing Zope product that's designed to address this specific need. Tunneling URL hell.

I'm starting to see lots of hits on my sites from friendly, neighborhood search engines. Lots more than I'd expect. Looking closely, I noticed that I've got tunnelling URL syndrome. The requests look like: /ab/wa/ab/wa/ab/wa/ab/wa/index_html I fear that this may go on forever! My sites are sitting behind apache with URL rewriting turned on, and my REQUEST paths include the /ab/wa prefix. I've seen that others have had this problem, but I haven't seen anyone with a solution. I'd prefer not to have to turn all of my links into absolute URLs. Here's another possiblity that I've considered: I could do a browser sniff and if it's a spider and has a more than one /ab/ in the path, I could insert a meta tag in the HTML head: <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">, as per http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/exclusion.html#meta. Of course, this would require the spider to respect the meta tag. Has anyone figured out any other solutions to this apparent bug in the Virtual Host Monster? Thanks all! Automatically import a zexp

Hello, as a Debian maintainer I wonder if there is any clean method to import zexp products by a script (not using the import method from a browser). The idea is that installing Python products is simple by copying the python code to the right place and restart zope. Works fine in the Debian postinst script. But what to do with zexp products. I tried a very dirty hack like ZOPEUSER="<place the name of Zope administrator here>" PASSWD="<and his password>" ## For sure this is insecure. ## You should find a secure way using debconf to maintain this!!!! IMPORT=<product-name>.zexp LC_ALL=en_EN HOST=localhost PORT=9673 wget --proxy=off --http-user=${ZOPEUSER} --http-pass=${PASSWD} \ http://${HOST}:${PORT}/Control_Panel/Products/${prod}/manage_importObject?file=${IMPORT} but I think I really do not have to tell you that this can not be the recommended way to go. Thanks for your answer. I am new to zope and even though I am reading the zope book, I have not grasped completely the namespace stuff. Thanks Andreas, that's almost got it, but it raised a new question on something I thought I understood. <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectIds('DTML Document')"> <li><a href="showdoc?docId=<dtml-var sequence-item>"><dtml-var sequence-item></a></li><br> </dtml-in> </ul> is what you suggested, and I changed it to show the title of the document thus: <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectIds('DTML Document')"> <li><a href="showdoc?docId=<dtml-var sequence-item>"><dtml-var sequence-var-title></a></li><br> </dtml-in> </ul> It still returns the DocID, not the title. I also tried using dtml-var title by itself as my assumption was within a dtml-in block, the current variables would point to what ever document was being referrenced as it has been pushed onto the top of the stack. Neither worked. What obvious element of sequence vars am I missing?

dir in Extensions

I have some python code in various files in a subdir, and I want to be able to access some functions in that module as an External Method in python In python, I use it like 'from SomeFolder.SomeModule import some_func' but in my external method, when I put SomeFolder.SomeModule as the Module name in the external method dialog, I get an error that the Module could not be found even though SomeFolder/SomeModule.py is in the Extensions directory. Is it possible to create subdirectories of Zope/Extensions/ and use the dir.file syntax to access their contents? Thanks, John Hunter

Can't get this SQL-based login to work...

Deleting an object from ZCatalog search results

Hi, What do you consider to be the easiest way to delete an object "returned" in a ZCatalog search. I can get the object by using getObject on the data_record_id_, but how can I delete it? Do I need to do some sort of traversal to the folder that contains the object? Is there a method for an object to delete itself? Something like <dtml-call "object.self_destruct()"> Thanks in advance, Nuno
