Whoa, Dieter, don't get your panties in a bunch! All I was trying to get at was that maybe we were f'ing up the build some how and was HOPING there would be a way to rely on the experts for that step. I was just trying to get some details about the Zope binary distribution, which I must've been a complete idiot about. Please forgive me. This kind of crap doesn't belong on a mail list, but since you want to incite a flame on it, I'll be more than happy to oblige. You got a beef with me, then email me directly and spare the rest of us with this waste of bandwidth. Is it my fault that Zope people are overly sensitive right now? Am I spreading misinformation? I thought I was just asking questions. I didn't know that was such a crime. -Erik

Anybody familiar with the <built-in> tag?
by e-Musty 04 Feb '02

04 Feb '02

After creating a ZSearch interface for two ZSQL methods, I've realized that the input form created by ZSearch contains something like follows: [we are within a form...] <tr><th><built-in function id>/first name</th> <td><input name="<built-in function id>/first_name" width=30 value=""></td></tr> <tr><th><built-in function id>/last name</th> <td><input name="<built-in function id>/last_name" width=30 value=""></td></tr> I am very curious what effect the <built in function id> tag has. I guess, it is substituted by the id of the ZSQL method the form is currently querying (keep in mind that the ZSearch made this one form for two ZSQL methods). However I am not sure that my tips are good, if anyone has ever worked with <built-in> tag, please tell me/us how to handle it. Thx in advance, e-M

Newbie question re python script to return proper URL for folder
by Ben Chapman 04 Feb '02

04 Feb '02

Hi, all: We have a set of folders; each folder contains a dtml document named "content". At the top level, we have an index_html that combines the standard_html_header, content, and standard_html_footer to produce the finished pages. Now, we're mass cataloguing these pages and we want to search the catalog and return links to **the folder** that contains the content document, rather than the document itself. In the results method in the Catalog, I've done this: <a href="urltrim?url=&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title></a> where urltrim is a python script that looks like this: --- start script urltrim ##parameters=url import string sloc=string.rfind(url, '/') result=url[:sloc+1] print context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(result) --- end script This works; if someone clicks on a link to one of the catalogued content objects, they get the folder. However, I'm positive that this is Not The Zope Way to achieve this result. Can anyone show me a more zopish approach to the correct result? Thanks! Ben bchapman(a)utulsa.edu

At 12:58 PM 1/31/02 -0500, you wrote: >You use the RESPONSE object. That is, >def ....(REQUEST, RESPONSE): >.... >location=... >RESPONSE.redirect(location) Okay, gotta be close by now :/ Here's my script: import string def myaffiliateprogram(REQUEST,RESPONSE): user_id, banner_id, page = REQUEST['user_id'],REQUEST['banner_id'],REQUEST['page'] redir = "http://www.myaffiliateprogram.com/u/%(user_id)s/t.asp?id=%(banner_id)s&p=%(…" % locals() # location=RESPONSE.redirect("%(redir)s\n % locals()") # location-RESPONSE.redirect("http://thewebsons.com") # location=redirect("http://thewebsons.com") location: redirect("http://thewebsons.com") All of those options (including the ones commented out) return a bad server request (Apache error #400). >See http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/AppendixB.dtml >for other things in repsonse. This, unfortunately, had but 4 words on the subject, if I found the correct reference. Any more ideas? TIA, BenO

dtml in structured text?
by Elena Schulz 04 Feb '02

04 Feb '02

Dear list, I need to insert some more complex formating in structered text. Is there a solution to insert some dtml-call or python-script-call in structured text documents or does anybody know how to do it simply? An ideal solution would be: Some structured text .... ...<dtml-var 'formating-rule("some more structured text")'> ... again structured text. The whole text should be in **one file** that is rendered as structured text exept the formating-rule-block and possibly placed in the localFileSystem with localFSProduct sothat it can be dynamically updated. Thanks a lot for your replies, Elena

Great, now the million dollar question. What's the best way to get my arms around this beast? Should I start with the Zope book? Are there good tutorials or white papers out on the web somewhere? downloading files crashes Zope
by Gabriela Arevalo 04 Feb '02

04 Feb '02

Hi everybody, we have Zope running for a European project and the users access the server with different platforms: Windows, Solaris and Macintosh. But, with one of the Macintosh computers, each time that the user tries to download a file, Zope crashes -I have to restart it again. Has anybody this problem? Is it related to kind of users permissions ? Is any file where the log of problems is registered ? Thanks for any help. Zope Extensions Folder
by Stephan Herschel 04 Feb '02

04 Feb '02

Is there a way to change the way Zope searches for the 'Extensions' folder according to the user ID? - ie/ Is there a way to change this default setting so that it is a sub-directory? I want to use external methods in a module not located in the Extensions folder. Thanks :)
