Newbie question re python script to return proper URL for folder

Hi, all: We have a set of folders; each folder contains a dtml document named "content". At the top level, we have an index_html that combines the standard_html_header, content, and standard_html_footer to produce the finished pages. Now, we're mass cataloguing these pages and we want to search the catalog and return links to **the folder** that contains the content document, rather than the document itself. In the results method in the Catalog, I've done this: <a href="urltrim?url=&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title></a> where urltrim is a python script that looks like this: --- start script urltrim ##parameters=url import string sloc=string.rfind(url, '/') result=url[:sloc+1] print context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(result) --- end script This works; if someone clicks on a link to one of the catalogued content objects, they get the folder. However, I'm positive that this is Not The Zope Way to achieve this result. Can anyone show me a more zopish approach to the correct result? Thanks! Ben bchapman(a)utulsa.edu

dtml in structured text?

Dear list, I need to insert some more complex formating in structered text. Is there a solution to insert some dtml-call or python-script-call in structured text documents or does anybody know how to do it simply? An ideal solution would be: Some structured text .... ...<dtml-var 'formating-rule("some more structured text")'> ... again structured text. The whole text should be in **one file** that is rendered as structured text exept the formating-rule-block and possibly placed in the localFileSystem with localFSProduct sothat it can be dynamically updated. Great, now the million dollar question. What's the best way to get my arms around this beast? Should I start with the Zope book? Are there good tutorials or white papers out on the web somewhere? downloading files crashes Zope

Hi everybody, we have Zope running for a European project and the users access the server with different platforms: Windows, Solaris and Macintosh. But, with one of the Macintosh computers, each time that the user tries to download a file, Zope crashes -I have to restart it again. Has anybody this problem? Is it related to kind of users permissions ? Is any file where the log of problems is registered ? Thanks for any help. Zope Extensions Folder

Is there a way to change the way Zope searches for the 'Extensions' folder according to the user ID? - ie/ Is there a way to change this default setting so that it is a sub-directory? I want to use external methods in a module not located in the Extensions folder. Thanks :)

Hi What changes did you make or where did you get them from? I'm a Zope user and don't know the internals. So I'd be very grateful for some help. If you could ellaborate on those 2-3 lines you apparently changed... I'll check on my situation with -D and try your startup option! I'll post my results. -- And for those following the "threading and prformance" track. I've tried if ProxyPass or Rewrite make any difference in threading behaviour - they dont! extract values from zope

After many months of accumulating information from users filling in forms my intranet zope server has accumulated a large amount of useful information I would like to extract into sqlserver for analysis and use elsewhere. Some pointers as to how to extract the values into a useful format for import into a database would be appreciated. Mike B
