RE: [Zope] Automatically run an external method?
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 15 Dec '01

I think what Bruce is asking is agnostic of this sort of thing, but I imagine he's referring to a whole object. If I understand correctly, this sort of thing exists in the CMF to trigger workflow states. Independent of the CMF, though, what you would need (I think, not 100% sure) to do is wrap object constructors & methods that change them, (for TTW adding of objects) and use a custom PUT() and/or PUT_factory() in the ObjectManager-derived container or your object itself (in order to change what happens when a file is uploaded via FTP or DAV into that container); I haven't done this, but I think there are those on this list that have done something like this. If I was trying to figure out how this is done, I would try to ask folks who have been into any workflow-related product code... That is, is there some kind of file where I can say > "when you're saved, call this method?"t "Saved"? What do you mean? Saved to disk, or uploaded to Zope, or changing the properties? _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

OmniWeb, Zope, Cookies
by lozinski＠openstepnews.com 15 Dec '01

15 Dec '01

There was a thread on this mailing list about zope and cookies and the OmniWeb Browser on Mac OS X. Basically it is hard to get things to work, because the Omniweb browser sets the cookie under a path variable. So when you go to fetch the cookie, it is not available by default. It turns out there is a fix to this problem. If you do set the path='/' argument in the command RESPONSE.setCookie('CookieName','CookieValue',path='/',expires ='wed, 19 Feb 2020')"> Then everything works just fine. At least it works fine on Omniweb on Mac OS X Server. I have not tested it on other browsers. I just did not want some other people to see the discouraging messages on this list server and give up. If you ever read this message, and it helps you, could you be so kind as to send me an email to that effect. It will encourage me to write more postings like this one. External methods: No place to enter Parameter List?
by Warren Postma 15 Dec '01

15 Dec '01

I was trying out adding External Methods, and it doesn't seem to provide me with a way to specify parameters, the Help file mentions entering a comma separated list in the text-entry-box titled "Parameter List" but there is no such item on the web page. So, how do I do it? Warren

how to install SiteAccess w/Enhanced VHM
by Rebecca Elder 15 Dec '01

15 Dec '01

I'm trying to install the SiteAccess w/Enhanced VirtualHostMonster v.2; removed the old version--but can't seem to make the new version appear--e.g. I don't see the edit tab and samples. Is there a step I could be missing? I'm on Win2k and I unzip and copy into lib/python/products. Thanks for any advice. Rebecca __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? slow month on zopelabs, help!
by alan runyan 14 Dec '01

14 Dec '01

Hi. the past two months have been particularly slow on zopelabs (the one stop recipe shop). If you have a recipe you have been hording, please find it in yourself during the holidays to share your recipe 8). I kinda made it a goal of mine to hit 300 recipes by 1/1/02. It looks like that wont happen. But I would at least like to hit 200. So we need 6 more recipes. ZSQLMethod, External Methods, Calendaring Widgets, Traversal Magik, Form validation - all are welcome. Anything that demonstrates a 'best practice'. I refactored one persons code whose method signature which took 30 variables down to 1 variable (a mapping ;). thanks, ~runyaga, a Zope Chef

Not sure what might be happening here, but I would check to make sure you are putting the access file in the right place. What OS are you using? Sean -----Original Message----- From: Shilpa Shenvi [mailto:sshenvi@nal.usda.gov] Sent: Friday, December 14, 2001 12:09 PM To: 'sean.upton(a)uniontrib.com' Subject: RE: [Zope] (no subject) Hi, I've done this several times, and tried other things such as changing the password then restarting zope. When I go through zpasswd.py it seems I can create an account successfully, but when I try to log into my zope site, it does not recognize my login and password. Is there something else I should be doing? Shilpa -----Original Message----- From: sean.upton(a)uniontrib.com [mailto:sean.upton@uniontrib.com] Sent: Friday, December 14, 2001 12:29 PM To: sshenvi(a)nal.usda.gov; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] (no subject) An emergency user account is always used in Zope; you can use 'python zpasswd.py access' in your Zope software root to create a new emergency user password; do this, then login and create a new user with manager roles, and relogin as that. Sean -----Original Message----- From: Shilpa Shenvi [mailto:sshenvi@nal.usda.gov] Sent: Friday, December 14, 2001 9:22 AM To: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: [Zope] (no subject) Help! To make a long story short, I managed to delete the manager account in my Root folder and now have no access to my system. There must be a file somewhere within the zope package that I can manually edit and possibly put through the encryption process so that the next time I bring up the server, there will be some username and password that does get recognized. I had not created an emergency login, so that is not an option for me either. Any help would be appreciated.
