Zope's 'ObjectManager' API has a very simple format for accessing subobjects, which genearally can use Python's means of accessing an attribute by name: #in python: subfolder = myfolder['subobjectid'] #dtml: <dtml-with "subobjectname"> We are now in the namespace of the object with an id of subobjectid. </dtml-with> It sounds like you want to use recursion; look in the Zope help system for the ObjectManager in API reference. This will be useful to you. You may want to use methods like objectIds() or objectValues(), which you can loop over in DTML or in Python. You can pass the meta type of your objects to these methods to restrict what object ids/values you retrieve. Other methods can be used from your objects themselves using the ObjectManagerItems interface, like restrictedTraverse() and getPhysicalPath(). Folders participate in both these interfaces, via the various mixin Classes that they inherit from. Aside from the API help, you may find lots of useful things on recursively walking a tree of objects on sites like www.zopelabs.com. I have a folder that has 3 sub folders. I created 3 zclasses/products. Users add new objects into these 3 folders, the objects being one of the 3 products created. Now I have a dtml method that will list the objects in the folder with the properties that were set. I can go to any of the 3 folders and view the dtml method to see the objects there. But what I need is this. I have an index_html in the main folder containing these 3 folders. This index_html needs to use the dtml method for displaying from each folder. So on the index_html the objects and properties from all 3 sub folders would be displayed in a columnar format. What do I use/do on the index_html to use or display the objects in a sub-folder? Make sense? I hope so. I would appreciate any help or guidance to get going on this. An emergency user account is always used in Zope; you can use 'python zpasswd.py access' in your Zope software root to create a new emergency user password; do this, then login and create a new user with manager roles, and relogin as that. You will want to create a different 'role' for each site category that you wish to protect; you can apply the 'View' permission to that role in the security tab of the top level folder for that portion of the site, and it applies the rest of the way down the folder hierarchy via acquisition, unless you override it; generally this is a good thing. You would then create sets of users with roles to access each site of content. The best way to accomplish a customized redirect-based-upon-login setup is either to use a forward-proxy server with a redirector/URL-rewriter, or you can do it in Zope; I'm guessing you want to do it in Zope itself, so you could create a TTW Python script or DTML method that acts as your initial login page. Help! To make a long story short, I managed to delete the manager account in my Root folder and now have no access to my system. There must be a file somewhere within the zope package that I can manually edit and possibly put through the encryption process so that the next time I bring up the server, there will be some username and password that does get recognized. I had not created an emergency login, so that is not an option for me either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Zope 2.4.3 and Oracle database

I have a linux mandrake 8.1 system with Zope 2.4.3. I intend to install the Oracle DBMS and connect to it using ZOracleDA. Is there a possibility that some ZOracleDA Product will work with Oracle 8.1.7? What about the new Oracle 9i? Has anyone experience with some installation that works and please give the cooperating product versions (Zope, Oracle, ZOracleDA)? TIA, Panos Hilaris

ZCatalog: finding a match "in" an index

Hi all Hopefully this one is a complete no-brainer .. I have an index called 'AssignedTo', currently a FieldIndex, containing lists like ['jean', 'isak']. I want to do a selection based on this index:: <dtml-let brains="Reminders.getRemindersFiltered( AssignedTo = AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName() )"> But that doesn't work. Is there a way to ask whether something is 'in' AssignedTo? Or would making AssignedTo a TextIndex solve my problem? Regards, Jean
