Authentication (newbie)
by Nagy Gabor 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

Hi! I'm new to this list, and new to zope. What I would like to create is a website on a Linux box, that users of our intranet could access. I don't want to enter every user again, and give them new passwords, I want to use the existing windows domain's data. (We are talking about authentication, I think). I'm not sure in the setup of the roles and permissions, but it will come later. I've checked the list of possible Alternative User Folders at http://www.zope.org/Products/user_management today, and found that there are at least two products doing this same thing. Alas I don't remember their names, but I remember that the one that sounded better required the recompilation of python so that it will be able to use the smb module. Sort of. So, Two questions: -Which product do you recommend for this thing? -Isn't there a product that simply uses PAM? I saw all sort of things, but for quite a lot of them we (I) already have PAM modules. (LDAP, NT-domain, /etc/passwd, radius, mysql...). Maybe there is, I just didn't find it. (But then why do such a lot of products exist for doing the same thing again?) Bye! Gee

Solved MailHost error in Internet Explorer
by olpa＠sybcom.de 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

hi, I posted the observation, that following code does not work with internet explorer 5.5, but with any other browser: <dtml-sendmail mailhost=MailHost> From: blabla(a)sybcom.de To: blabla(a)sybcom.de Subject: blabla blabla </dtml-sendmail> modifying as follows made it work: <dtml-sendmail mailhost=MailHost mailfrom=blabla(a)sybcom.de mailto=blabla(a)sybcom.de> From: blabla(a)sybcom.de To: blabla(a)sybcom.de Subject: blabla blabla </dtml-sendmail> and only the bits and bytes know why... it is solved anyway! --- If you care, you just get disappointed all the time. 'manage_pasteObjects()' problem
by vmilitaru＠sympatico.ca 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

When I execute the following python code (from within a method of an instantiated object): myClipboard = self.aq_parent.manage_cutObjects(id) destination_folder = getattr(my_root_folder,'dest') destination_folder.manage_pasteObjects(myClipboard) I get the error: 'The object <my object id> does not support this operation.' And I don't get it. I thought that by making my object inherit from 'OFS.SimpleItem.Item', I get cut&paste support. Can someone explain? What's the solution to make 'paste' functionality work? Or again, are there alternative tricks for moving objects around, besides 'manage_pasteObjects()'? Regards, Vio

simple question
by D. Rick Anderson 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

This should be easy, but I can't seem to make it work. With this statement: <dtml-var "webClient('http://192.168.107.8/SQL_Testing/Database_Test? clt_id=&dtml-clt_id;')"> I can't get the &dtml-clt_id variable to render. I've tried all sorts of variations from leaving out the ; to using the full <dtml-var> syntax and it still wont render. When I look at the request that is sent it looks like this: QUERY_STRING 'clt_id=&dtml-clt_id;' Why won't this work?!?! It seems like something REALLY simple, but I just can't get that thing to render right. Thanks, Rick

ZMI-based CMF features
by Darcy Clark 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

Hi, I'd like to integrate some CMF-type features into the standard ZMI (Zope Management Interface). I want to do this for 2 reasons : 1. I'm lazy - the ZMI takes care of a lot of basic infrastructure, I don't want to code interfaces for everything 2. I like the ZMI interface Basically the CMF feature that I want most is Workflow. I downloaded DCWorkflow and a patch to make it work outside of a CMF site, so now my plan is to create some content types based on CMFCore:PortalContent and add some additional tabs and buttons to the ZMI to handle the Workflow features. So I have two questions to those with more Zen than I : 1. Can this work ? Is this a waste of time and effort ? 2. Has anyone done this already who would also be willing to share pointers and/or code ? cheers, Darcy Clark

Python script URL
by Brian Sullivan 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

I have been playing around with existing Python scripts and have found that I need to determine the URL of the script itself. Actually what I need is the equivalent of the URLx construct for the http Request object that works with for the URL of the script. My experience with Python is limited so I am probably missing something obvious -- can anybody provide a clue as to where I should start?

Help compiling Zope 2.4.1 from sources on OpenBSD 2.8, error can't make ISO_8859_1_Splitter
by Warren Postma 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

Hello folks. I am trying to get Zope to compile on OpenBSD 2.8. I have searched Google and found that people do in fact have ZOpe up and running on OpenBSD. First off, yes, I installed Python 2.1.1, and it runs no problem. I ran "python wo_pcgi.py", and it got a fair ways into the building process, and then died inside of a Makefile, with the following being the most interesting error output: /usr/local/lib/python2.1/config/makesetup -m Makefile.pre -c /usr/local/lib/python2.1/config/config.c.in Setup -n /usr/local/lib/python2.1/config/Setup.config /usr/local/lib/python2.1/config/Setup.local /usr/local/lib/python2.1/config/Setup make make: don't know how to make ././src/ISO_8859_1_Splitter.c. Stop Now, there's a folder called ISO_8859_1_Splitter but there's no C file. The path of the folder is ~postma/Zope-2.4.1-src/lib/python/Products/PluginIndexes/TextIndex/Splitter/ ISO_8859_1_Splitter Is this a case of me needing to Read a Million Pages of Documentation that I haven't read yet? What does it mean that it can't find this ISO_8859 file? Is there something I need to change in the configuration of Zope in order to get it to build on this platform? I built the full Python 2.1.1, I believe, so I have no idea what this file is that it wants. Warren
