If you are running zope as a service, you must make the change in the registry. On my w2k box: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<service name>\Parameters The Parameters key contains the path to your python, and the path to the zope script, usually z2.py. ZCatalog: UnKeywordIndex error
by Jean Jordaan 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

Hi all Does anyone have any idea why this code:: WHEN OBJECT CHANGED CALL Catalog.uncatalog_object(_.string.join(self.getPhysicalPath(),'/')) , Catalog.catalog_object( self , _.string.join(self.getPhysicalPath(),'/')) would trigger this error:: 2001-12-12T08:21:11 ERROR(200) UnKeywordIndex unindex_object could not remove documentId 1144296079 from index ComponentVersions. This should not happen. Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/zope/2-3-0/lib/python/SearchIndex/UnIndex.py, line 236, in removeForwardIndexEntry KeyError: 1144296079 (in /home/httpd/zope-instances/dev-creme/var/z2.log). The snippet of SkinScript above is triggered by this call in a python script:: license_propertysheet = license.propertysheets.basic license_propertysheet.manage_changeProperties( SystemReminders = system_reminders) When I look at documentId 1144296079 in the catalog, it's fine http://blommie:11080/Catalog/manage_objectInformation?rid=1144296079 'ComponentVersions' is the first index. Calls to manage_changeProperties works fine from methods of the License ZClass, and from the Licenses specialist. The call that's giving trouble is in a different specialist (Reminders). Would this make any difference? Any advice would be sorely appreciated .. Jean Jordaan

Zope - Novell Network

hi again, " >You are probably going to get more useful answers if you tell us what >you >are trying to do, and what your problem is. " yes sorry about that I'll be more specific. my setup >> NovellNetware file server, with 20 win95 machines mapped sharing a couple of folders on that server. all workstations have IPX/SPX setup, no TCP/IP. I just want to be able to run Zope on this setup so that each machine will be able to access the Zope interface. I tried installing Zope on a 95machine on that setup and running it. installed OK, froze up on startup. I tried installing TCP/IP on few machines and installing Zope on that. Still no luck. I can't even PING machines with new TCP/IP settings. Can I just run Zope using current IPX/SPX settings? Can I put TCP/IP on one win95 machine and use that IP in my browser without giving ALL the machines IP numbers? or do I have to run Zope in a Novell Shared folder somehow? How about 2.1.1 - how would I get Zope to use that version? -----Original Message----- From: Jens Vagelpohl [mailto:jens@zope.com] Sent: 13 December 2001 14:32 To: Sam Collett Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] Zope and Windows just FYI, python2.2 is not officially supported. it will be supported in zope 3.x. jens On Thursday, December 13, 2001, at 08:57 , Sam Collett wrote: > Have got Zope 2.5.0b2 installed on Windows 98 and have had no problems so > far. > However, I notice the version of Python that is used is 2.1.0 > I have ActivePython 2.2 installed, how can I get Zope to use that version > of > Python instead of the one it ships with? > I have modified the startup batch file to read: > > C:\Python22\python.exe "C:\Program Files\WebSite\z2.py" -W:9800 > > But that does not seem to work > > Any ideas? > > I have also seen the file pythonw.exe as well as python.exe, what is the > difference. > > _____________________________________

Have got Zope 2.5.0b2 installed on Windows 98 and have had no problems so far. However, I notice the version of Python that is used is 2.1.0 I have ActivePython 2.2 installed, how can I get Zope to use that version of Python instead of the one it ships with? I have modified the startup batch file to read: C:\Python22\python.exe "C:\Program Files\WebSite\z2.py" -W:9800 But that does not seem to work Any ideas? I have also seen the file pythonw.exe as well as python.exe, what is the difference.

RE: [Zope] stability of zope?

The line "Mean Time Between Reboots" states, that the average uptime is 18.65 days. So this stat doesn't think that a reboot is downtime. What says www.netcraft.com about your uptime? Re: [Zope] A Catalog of Zope Products?
by Stephan Goeldi 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

>Is there a central repository that catalogs >all Zope products and provides some explanation of what they do? www.zope.org/Products It is not good structured. When you do a search, some products are not found at all. Usually I load the whole list of "All Products" and do a Ctrl-F in my browser window to find the searched product. Not the most usable way, but it works. _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

Introduction Presentation?
by Tom Deprez 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

Hi, I know about people asking questions if somebody already made an introduction presentation. Now I'm looking one for myself. It is very important because now I finally have the chance to tell the IT department about Zope. Is there someone who has already done a presentation about Zope to an IT department? They know nothing about Zope, so it has to be basic, but still interesting for such experienced IT people. They know about ColdFusion, Spectra, Java, Security, Network (yup, it's probably the whole IT department). And I would like to tell them something about the more enhanced / future stuff. One of such thing, I think they will be interested in is for instance the single-point of failure in the ZEO. I know people are working on this problem. How far is the project going? I can write my own introduction, but I would be very grateful if I could get some advice from people who already experienced something like this. Thanks in advance, Tom.
