Zope dtml-sqltest and MS Access data types
by Harlow Pinson 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

Hi. This probably has a simple answer. If I set up an field in a MS Access 2000 table with a data type of Long Integer, and then try to write to it using a ZSQL method and the DTML "dtml-sqltest" tag with type set to "int" or "float" I get an ODBC error. The Zope Book lists the possible data types available for sqltest as: int, string, float, and nb The only thing i've found to work is setting type to "string" Are the other MS Access data types, like long integer, memo, data/time, currency, etc supported by the the dtml-sqltest tag? What are the workarounds? Thanks. Harlow Pinson Indepth Learning Email: hpinson(a)indepthl.com Web: http://www.indepthl.com Voice: 505-994-2135 FAX: 208-475-7678

Hi everyone, How do i sort on numeric id? I have a Folder containing Zclasses with numeric ids. what i am trying to do is to sort it, but it treats the ids as strings as it should, how do i sort it so it treats the ids as numeric values? <dtml-in "objectValues(['ZClass'])" sort=id> <dtml-var id> </dtml-in> Produces: 1 10 2 .... 9 Any help would be greatly appreciated. php IMP/Horde from Zope
by Milos Prudek 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

Hi, anyone tried to integrate Horde/IMP with Zope? I need autologin to IMP, i.e. users authenticated in Zope should be able to go to their IMP mailbox without reauthenticating. In my understanding, if I have page "A" written in non-PHP language, and I want to auto-login to a page "B" (redirect.php), I have to assure page B that a user did indeed authenticated in page A. I can see two options to do that: 1. In page A, create form with fields "imapuser" and "pass", and submit via POST. This has a security drawback of being visible in HTML source of A, and being saved in web caches etc. 2. In page A, set a cookie in client browser that contains encrypted user name and password, and in page B pick up that cookie. Encryption can be cracked but it looks more secure than 1. 3. Use some form of communication between A and B on the server, probably through SQL. Which approach would you consider the best? -- Milos Prudek

FYI: Fixed version of cadaver for cygwin available
by Paul Everitt 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

Howdy. At: http://www.zope.org/Members/paul/cadaver.html ...is a page with a download for a fixed version of cadaver for cygwin. Namely, this is cadaver 0.18.0 for cygwin including the contributed patch for readline completion. For those that don't know, cadaver is a WebDAV client that works like a comman-line interface ftp tool. Many thanks to Matt Kromer for fixing the compile for me! --Paul

Zope 2.4.3 and
by Panos Hilaris 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

I have a linux mandrake 8.1 system with Zope 2.4.3. I intend to install the Oracle DBMS and connect to it using ZOracleDA. Is there a possibility that some ZOracleDA Product will work with Oracle 8.1.7? What about the new Oracle 9i? Has anyone experience with some installation that works and please give the cooperating product versions (Zope, Oracle, ZOracleDA)? TIA, Panos Hilaris

I think I remember it compiling when installing (I saw a batch file runing right at the end). Could I recompile using the newer version of Python? -----Original Message----- From: Jens Vagelpohl [mailto:jens@zope.com] Sent: 13 December 2001 14:52 To: Sam Collett Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] Zope and Windows i'm speaking from ignorance when it comes to windoze, but i would assume changing the start script to point to the desired python might do it. that said you might see warning messages from C-based python extensions because those were compiled with the python that comes with the distribution. jens On Thursday, December 13, 2001, at 09:35 , Sam Collett wrote: > How about 2.1.1 - how would I get Zope to use that version? > > -----Original Message----- > From: Jens Vagelpohl [mailto:jens@zope.com] > Sent: 13 December 2001 14:32 > To: Sam Collett > Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' > Subject: Re: [Zope] Zope and Windows > > > just FYI, python2.2 is not officially supported. it will be supported in > zope 3.x. > > jens > > > On Thursday, December 13, 2001, at 08:57 , Sam Collett wrote: > >> Have got Zope 2.5.0b2 installed on Windows 98 and have had no problems so >> far. >> However, I notice the version of Python that is used is 2.1.0 >> I have ActivePython 2.2 installed, how can I get Zope to use that version >> of >> Python instead of the one it ships with? >> I have modified the startup batch file to read: >> >> C:\Python22\python.exe "C:\Program Files\WebSite\z2.py" -W:9800 >> >> But that does not seem to work >> >> Any ideas? >> >> I have also seen the file pythonw.exe as well as python.exe, what is the >> difference. >> >> _____________________________________ > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > (Related lists - > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

RE: [Zope] stability of zope?
by Meilicke, Scott 13 Dec '01

I think it is counting uptime and downtime in terms of seconds(or some sort of time measurement). So if the total time the server has been running is 100 hours, and it was down for 3 one hour periods, then uptime would be reported as 4 days, 1 hour (97 hours total). Downtime would be 3 hours. I agree, there were 1-3 days where services were interrupted in this example. So this uptime stat I ran does consider a reboot downtime, but measures time more granularly than days. This box is an Intranet server, so netcraft is not appropriate. You can assume however, that the uptime is no better than these stats, as this is the OS, and the service may have had difficulties of its own, including planned downtime (restarting zope for product installs, bad python programs gone bad, etc.) -----Original Message----- From: Stephan Goeldi [mailto:stephan_goeldi@hotmail.com] Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2001 3:28 AM To: scott.meilicke(a)intp.com; stephan.goeldi(a)datacomm.ch; kosh(a)aesaeion.com; rene(a)xs4all.nl Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] stability of zope? >Partial output from uptime: > >Since 4/24/2000: > > System Availability: 99.8800% > Total Uptime: 596d 0h:2m:30s > Total Downtime: 0d 17h:10m:56s > Total Reboots: 32 > Mean Time Between Reboots: 18.65 days > Total Bluescreens: 0 If you have 32 reboots in 596 days, then the uptime is not 596 days. The line "Mean Time Between Reboots" states, that the average uptime is 18.65 days. So this stat doesn't think that a reboot is downtime. What says www.netcraft.com about your uptime?
