Re: [Zope] creating new users
by Richard Hewison 13 Dec '01

I've seen various similar pleas for help on this in past messages, but it seems as if no one has ever come up with an answer? Considering that adding new users to Zope is a fairly fundamental part of the system, can't anyone offer any suggestions why new users added in the normal way (via the acl_users) folder are not being recognised by Zope when they try and log in? This happens on our current Linux install (Zope v2.4.3) and on our previous Sun Solaris installs (Zope v2.4.2 and then v2.4.3 upgrade). Richard H.

Re: [Zope] Zope 2.4 Catalog Error

So I found the problem, but I am not sure how to create the indexes in python? Can someone give me a quick example? Does SiteRoot Interfere With Copy-Paste?
by Dan Shafer 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

I have encountered a peculiarity and I'm having trouble understanding it. I have a folder on my site called "learning" where I experiment with stuff I'm figuring out. When I get something working there, I want to copy the resulting object(s) and paste it(them) into another folder on my site. This works fine except in one of my folders. The only difference I can see between the folders where it does work and this renegade is that the folder where it doesn't work has a SiteRoot and the others don't. In this folder, the Paste button just never appears. Everywhere else on the site, it's fine. Anyone got an insight? -- Dan Shafer, Author-Consultant http://www.danshafer.com http://www.shafermedia.com

A Catalog of Zope Products?
by Dan Shafer 13 Dec '01

13 Dec '01

Over the past couple of weeks, I've read a few messages on this list along the line of: "Hey, I need to be able to do X. Anyone know how to do that?" "Yeah, use Product Y." This got me to thinking. Is there a central repository that catalogs all Zope products and provides some explanation of what they do? If there is, perhaps a prominent pointer to it on Zope.org? If not, does this seem like a useful idea? How would it be undertaken? Volunteer effort, presumably. -- Dan Shafer, Author-Consultant http://www.danshafer.com http://www.shafermedia.com

making 'printed' = ''
by Christopher N. Deckard 12 Dec '01

12 Dec '01

Is it possible to do something like this: print 'foo' print 'more foo' print 'I like foo' thing = printed printed = '' print 'bar' print 'more bar' otherthing = printed I want to do this because I want the new line at the end of each line and don't want to put "\n"'s everywhere. Is it possible to do that? Or am I just insane. Zope tells me that 'printed' is a reserved word. Thanks, -Chris -- -------------------------------------------------------------------- Christopher N.
