User conflict

I run Zope as user 'AAA', and I need to interface with a program who only accepts to speak to user 'BBB' (for example, if I login as AAA then 'su' to BBB, this program detects it and denies communication). Any idea how this could be pulled off? Regards, Vio

Others (myself included) have asked this same question. To date, I've not seen a satisfactory answer. Most object databases provide a unique identifier (an oid) to a given object. That reference can be stored in other objects for use when necessary. Good object databases are capable of establishing relationships between objects that are maintained. To my knowledge, Zope doesn't work that way. Instead, it uses the URL as a pseudo oid. This has both good and bad points. URL use is handy for web integration, but you give up the standard oid paradigm and is another reason why Zope is hard to grok. (But it is one of the reasons why Zope is so justly admired.) I think you would have to use something analogous to "cookies" in the stateless HTTP protocol. I.e., some sort of intermediary. How to do that, I know not. Getting email fields right

I'm using the MailHost to send email from within an external method. I've tried a number of different combinations, including something as elaborate as this: self.MailHost.send("This is a test", # Body "To: Bruce Eckel <Bruce(a)EckelObjects.com>", "From: Bruce Eckel <Bruce(a)EckelObjects.com>", "Test Email") # Subject However, I can't seem to get the "to" and "from" fields to show up right in the resulting email. All I end up with is a 'to' field of Bruce(a)EckelObjects.com and an empty 'from' field. I suspect others have done this before and solved the problem. Anybody using xinetd with Zope?

Hi all, Zope newbie with a question about xinetd. At least I suspect that xinetd is where my problem resides. I can access my zope app from on campus, but my client can't see it off-campus. I don't use xinetd to start or stop zope, but isn't that where you allow/limit access to different ports (mine is running on port 9673). Or is this a problem with the corporate firewall that is having problems seeing the Zope app. Can YOU see it? http://touchstone.unk.edu:9673/kearney Any pointers would be appreciated. Document Library: Changing Properties

hi, I have 108 documents in a Document Library (product). I need to go through them all and set one propertie equal to another. Something like document.x = document.y. I figure this is a good time to learn python scripting in zope. I don't know how to get the documents into my script, then back out. Any help would be appreciated. Question about Ram Cache

Hello All, Recently, we have been doing a lot more caching of various parts of our website. We have noticed two times over the last week that after a restart and a long period of relative inactivity (overnight) that one of the pages has gotten corrupted. Invalidating the page in the ram cache and forcing it to reload takes care of the problem. The first time the HTML was corrupted (parts were missing) and in the second case, none of the images (which are also cached) would show even though those same images on other areas of the website displayed correctly. The page is quite simple and includes only static text with a header and footer that is generated with a date and the generation time for the page. The only REQUEST variable is AUTHENTICATED_USER which means that all anonymous views get the same cached page. Here are the other settings we are using: Threshold entries: 1000 Max Age: 3600 Cleanup interval: 300 Also, there are no Names from the DTML namespace currently being used as cache keys on the page in question. Since this is such a basic application of the Ram Cache, I am a little surprised that we would be seeing this type of behavior. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?
