Re: [Zope] How to find a function in the zopeSource?
by Terry Hancock 30 Nov '01

Basically, your best bet is to use a combination of "find" and "grep", such as: find . -name "*.py" -exec grep "myfunction" {} \; This amazingly confusing syntax means "starting from the current directory ('.'), find files which match '*.py' (i.e. Python source files), and execute grep on them each in turn". The contained grep expression says to search the file for the string "myfunction". If you are lucky enough to know which directory you need to search, you can economize a bit and just use grep: grep "myfunction" *.py (which is easier to remember!). This, of course, is not specific to Zope, but applies any time you need to find string references in a large tree of files. Unfortunately, the fact that you don't know this probably means you're not using Linux/Unix, so this may not be so helpful. I have heard that there is a software package for Windows which gives you these common utilities, but I don't know where to get it. Perhaps someone else could help you find that. (Maybe just knowing it exists is helpful?). jcNTUserFolder imports users, but not user groups
by Igor Leturia 30 Nov '01

30 Nov '01

Hi: I want to build an intranet where different users will have access to different things. I have installed jcNTUserFolder so that I don't have to enter the users twice (first in my NT domain and then in Zope) and it works fine. I have some user groups defined in my NT domain, and I would like these groups to be the roles in Zope, so that I don't have to define these groups/roles twice. Does jcNTUserFolder import the roles from the NT groups? If not so, would it be possible to build a product that does this (I mean, are there python functions that can access to the NT groups)? Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia

Hi! I am working on a website, using Zope and I'd like to include an Interactive map of the area. Is there any product for Zope, which I could (ab)use as a map-server? Thanks! Falk

Locale support in STXNG since 2.4.0
by Elena Schulz 30 Nov '01

30 Nov '01

Dear List, in the changes.txt of the zope 2.5b announcement I read that the locale support in STXNG has been broken (since 2.4.0). Does that mean it is supported in zope 2.5b now. What do I have to do to get it work in zope 2.4.3 if not. Can I deactivate STXNG in 2.4.3? At the moment it is not working in my 2.4.3 on win98. Thanks for your reply, Elena

dtml-if documentation
by Stephan Goeldi 30 Nov '01

30 Nov '01

Can anybody point me to an advanced documentation of the dtml-if tag? The basic usage like <dtml-if methoda> do this and that </dtml-if> is not enough. All found docs seem to stop at a certain point of the dtml-if description. e.g. the "startswith" stuff, Oleg posted yesterday, was very helpful for me. Where is this documented? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Ok, I was pointed to the right direction in this. The solution is to create a new portal_type and to create a new portal_type_view for this new portal_type. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Newbie - manage mode problem
by Dr. Ashok N. Ullal 30 Nov '01

30 Nov '01

I am a newbie. I have just installed Zope 2.4.1 under SuSE Linux 7.3 and have the system up and running. I was able to connect with the initial user id and password, create a new user in the root folder and connect as the new user in the manage mode. The strange problem that I am facing is that in some browsers I have the tabbed display in the workspace with the tabs "Contents", "View", .., "Ownership" but in other browsers I do not have any tabs and only the view of the index_html web page. I have tried this locally on the Linux system with two different browsers, Konquerer (work right) and Mozilla (does not work right), and across the net using MS Internet Explorer 5.0 (does not work right) and Mozilla (does not work right) under Win2000, and again across the net using MS Internet Explorer 5.0 (works right) and Mozilla (does not work right) under Win98. Works right means that I have a tabbed workspace so that I can manage the site. Does not work right means that I have no tabs visible and hence can't do anything by way of managing the site. Has anyone seen this effect before? Does anyone know what browser settings are needed for getting the tabbed workspace? Prof. Dr. Ashok N. folder content (big post)
by Stephan Goeldi 30 Nov '01

In CMF, when I add a folder (not portal folder) via the ZMI, it is viewable in CMF. When I click on "folder content", it is not seen and not editable. When I add a portal folder (via the "folder content" functionality of CMF), it is seen by "folder content". But these folders behave different than standard folders: portal folders seem to include the functionality of standard_html_header and standard_html_footer. I do not have to include these two tags in an index_html. The standard zope folder needs these two tags. One level above resides an index_html, which includes these two tags. The index_html is needed, because the subfolders shall display some pre-formatted stuff. Now the standard Zope folders display everything correct, while the portal folders display the standard_html_headers twice. So the actions_box and the top of the CMF is displayed twice. So I need an answer on how I get these standard folders (not portal folders) seen, when I click on "folder content". I have to edit the folder itself (description etc.) AND the content (portal image etc.). Did I miss something essential? The other approach is, handling index_html on another way. Perhaps i missed a basic cmf philosophy? When I change index_html in the 'custom' folder, it is clear, that the top level appearance of cmf is changed. But what, if I want to change the appearance of a subfolder? Is it correct, to create a dtml method in this subfolder as index_html? The problem is, that the above mentioned functionality of headers and footers doesn't work anymore, when i create such a method outside of cmf. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Yes, this was the solution. Thank you very much, Oleg!
