ZSQL Like Statement

Hi all, Does anyone know how to do a query in ZSQL with the "LIKE" statement? This is what i want to do: select * from database where start_date LIKE '2001/10/%' ; what is the ZSQL statement equivalent of mysql "LIKE" and the wild card symbol? i have been searching for answers at Zope.org but found no luck. Thanks for any suggestions.

Salespitches for zope

How many of you have had to do sales pitches for Zope as a platform to client or clients who have been reading magazines and understand that Microsoft .Net, Lotus Notes, Java XXXX or Macromedia Coldfusion are terms that they should be hearing, since journalist have been writing about those products? I had a terrible flue last week, but still had to do a pitch and come up with atleast a couple of points in my presentation. Hope these can help you, and hope you can give me some more. Pitching for zope is not a problem in my own company and some of the clients, who just want to get the job done. But from time to time client also wants to participate into the technology selected. Basic points - also from zope book: - Scalability - Open standards - Security - Management ( www ) - Programming ( dtml, Python, perl ) Other points - tested in real life ( examples needed with good figures - users, years, load ) - un-sexy ( not hyped, no need to hype - it just works ) - open source - licencing fees - no lock in - support - active community - books starting to be available - from developers point of view - easy to work with after understands what is it all about - objects are nice - nice - nice How have you made your client to see what you see in Zope? -huima

Yeah, I was searching for a software product to propose which would allow us to do this. Didn't search long, but I found mailgw http://hes.iki.fi/mailgw/ and I heard of it before. greetings- I am new (2 weeks) to the zope scene and enjoy what I see. I have spent the day learning database connectivity and would like to get reference material on ODBC, particularly as it relates to Zope (for example, how do I handle date/time data types). I have the Zope book, which is a great start, but I feel that I am ready for more. Along the same lines, what do you feel is the best way to learn screen layouts? Should I look at the source of pages I like? Or is there a reference on (HTML??) design? Thanks, everyone! Due to the sheer volume of personal attacks I have received from members of this list over the past three days, I find myself in somewhat of a predicament. These emails have been rather upsetting to me, and while I'm normally fairly thick skinned about such things, this has simply gone too far. I now find myself dreading reading my email, and that is unacceptable. I am bracing for a new round of the same once the digest goes out, hopefully the percentage of cowards is somewhat less in the digest userbase than the live userbase. I'm have unsubscribed from the mailing lists, and therefore I guess I invalidate my previous request for a new one. Thanks it's been fun.

Browse the namespace

Is there a simple way to be able to browse the namespace. Ideally I would like to know what each of the namespaces are that are in context and each of the name, value pairs. Also: as a 2nd question. If you can add a user to an acl_users folder using dtml how can you delete a user? -- Best Regards, David Price

Install doesn't start properly

I've installed Zope 2.4.1 and it has correctly compiled (I downloaded and installed Python 2.1.1) but when I start the server, at the end I get a message: date/time: PANIC(300) z2 Startup exception Traceback (innermost last): file Zope/Zope-2.4.1-linux2-x86/z2.py, line 757, in ? IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied '/Zope/Zope-2.4.1-linux2-x86/var/Z2.pid' I'm logged in as root with full permissions. Can someone tell me why this problem is occuring and how I can fix it? Automatic Zope Login

Is there a way to automatically login users to a Zope Intranet Site by taking their Windows 2000 username and password. I have tried smbUserFolder by Chris McDonough but that does not seem to work on Windows 2000. Best approach for a newbie?

I'm new to Zope and am slowly getting to grips with v2.4.1. However, I'm unsure what the best approach is going to be for the following: I would like to write a form that users can access to upload documents to a particular folder. I then want Zope to create a table which contains four columns - one for an icon showing the document type (word or pdf usually), a link to the document itself (I can do this part already), the author and finally the date the document was last updated. I was hoping that the easiest way of doing this would be to get the user to type in the required info in the form (doc_type, doc_author, doc_date), and this would then be applied as properties to the file object (the document) when it was uploaded. Is this feasible, if so - how should I do it - or is there a better method? Thanks in advance,
