Error when starting Zope - Python15.DLL not found
by Evan Harris 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Hi Am pretty new at this Zope thing but hopefully someone can tell me what I am doing wrong :) I downloaded Zope (V2.4)and have been playing with it, generally having a pretty good time. I decided to venture into database connectivity territory to see what additional function that added but after locating the resources I apparently needed and following the install instructions (I think :)) I get an error when starting the Zope server that Python.DLL cannot be found. I looked for it on my system (I'm running Win2k) but can only find a Python21.dll that looks to be anything like it. The ZODBC product shows up in my ZOpe products with a cracked box so it knows it's broken. What obviously dumb thing have I done or missed ? Thanks in advance for any help :) Cheers Evan Harris

Note to self: check list first. Saw 10 posts down and modify access instead of inituser and it worked. Duh, Paz

ARGH! acl_users
by Paz 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Ack! I have quite stupidly moved my acl_users folder to a higher up tree so I can get there but not to root, what is the fix for this on win2k? I tried running zpasswd.py but seemingly no effect on inituser.. that's a (l)unix thing aint it? Thanks, Paz

Likewise, if you change httpd.conf in apache, you must restart apache. Troy

More Zope/PostGreSQL/PoPyDA.
by acg 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

My personal configuration: ZPoPyDA 2.0.7 Zope 2.4.0 Python 2.1.1 Debian/GNU Linux Another bug or is it only a bad dtml construction? Again from ZopeBook I see this Examples Sample usage: select * from employees <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest salary op=gt type=float optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest first op=eq type=string multiple optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest last op=eq type=string multiple optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> (...) If salary is 50000 and last is Smith it renders: select * from employees where (salary > 50000.0 and last='Smith' ) Mmmm..., is ZPoPyDA supposse to do that? I don´t think so. My code: Arguments: id, name. SELECT * FROM Departments <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest id op=eq type=int optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest name op=eq type=string optional> IT WORKS!!! with the fix by Jim Penny </dtml-sqlgroup> ORDER BY id My Query Result without blanks arguments, Zope renders... SELECT * FROM Departments where name = '' ORDER BY idDepartamento Ups! Is it my code or is it a new bug? I´m thinking about change to psicopg... Is it a good idea? Antonio Carrasco

where have all the DateTime gone?
by Max Møller Rasmussen 27 Aug '01

I am trying to migrate an old 2.3.1 site to a 2.4 server. But when I try to start the site I get an error (see the bottom of the message.) It seems that the problem is because My product cannot find DateTime no more. My imports looks like this:: from OFS import SimpleItem from Globals import HTMLFile, Acquisition, Persistent, DateTime If DateTime is no longer in Globals, where can I then find it? regards Max M ------ 2001-08-27T12:23:33 ERROR(200) Zope Could not import Products.ots_Calendar Traceback (innermost last): File /home/zope/Zope-2.4.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 552, in import_product File /home/zope/Zope-2.4.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/ots_Calendar/__init__.p y, line 1, in ? simple ZClass instance can't be imported/renamed on 2.3.3
by Didier Georgieff 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Hello, I have a product with one ZClass derived from CatalogAware and ObjectManager (and some nested ZClass as well). This product is derived from Yihaw, and survived exports/imports from 2.1.6 to 2.2.4 on my production server where i have my data. I need to switch to an other production server on 2.3.3. So, I have a new version of the same product (same classes but changing methods a bit) on a fresh 2.3.3 (i cleaned all the other products to narrow the problem), and i'm trying to import the 2.2.4 export file on my 2.3.3 install. And whaterver side i take it, i just can't import it. So i tried to export the import a new simple test objet on my 2.3.3 and it also fails. So i can see that the problems lives in my new version of the product and 2.3.3. Create is OK. But import or renames fails with those traceback (basicaly same reason). If it can enlight you, the actual production 2.2.4 has transparent folder (and i know there are some issues with TP and Zclass derived from objectmanager) but the 2.3.3 has not TP, so it would not interfere anymore. I suspect that TP changed some thing within the product (should not normally but who knows), because i can't see any reason for a new created objet to be not allowed to be renamed. Any help would be more than apreciated because i bang my head on the wall for some days now, and i found nothing similar on the list, and Zdebug didn't revealed anything.. Thanks in advance. Didier. Skinnable products
by Max Møller Rasmussen 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

I could really need some ideas for making a skinnable Python product. I am developing a Product, once more, but this time I am trying to make it skinable. I have written a basic module that can be re-used for all kinds of functionality. What I need is some way to select a skin. First I thought of making the product subclass the objectManager and then make another objectmanager inside that that holds the skins. Like:: myProduct/ skins/ skin1 skin2 ... Then by means of pushing the right skin folder onto the namespace the product could use different skins. But it seems like a waste of resources to have the dtml files duplicated all over the site. So I wondered if it might be possible to do something like the below pseudo-code. Or maybe somebody else has a better idea?? class myProduct: skins = objectManager() skins._setObject('skin1', objectManager()) skins.skin1._setObject(HTMLFile('skin1/index_html')) skins.skin1._setObject(HTMLFile('skin1/view')) skins.skin1._setObject(HTMLFile('skin1/edit')) skins._setObject('skin2', objectManager()) What I want to acheive is to have the skins a class properties, not instance properties. This way I could make a bunch of skins that could be selected from by setting a 'skin' property to the name of the 'skin' in the 'skins' folder. like:: skin = 'skin1' I don't need tested ideas, but would really like some input for ideas as for how to do this. regards Max M
