Re: DateTime under phyton script
by Juan García García 28 Aug '01

Hi, You must change two things, the first one is to change the type of the three drop-down boxes, instead of int, put string, the second is in the python script, write: starttime = DateTime(container.REQUEST.start_year + '/' + container.REQUEST.start_month + '/' + container.REQUEST.start_day) I think it will work. Bye. >Hi! >I have a form. It contains 3 drop-down boxes, named start_year:int, >start_month:int, start_day:int. >How can I use them, to make a datum object under phyton script? >I try >starttime = DateTime(container.REQUEST.start_year, >container.REQUEST.start_month, container.REQUEST.start_day) >but it gives an error >Error Type: TypeError >Error Value: illegal argument type for built-in operation

by marc lindahl 28 Aug '01

is there any Pythonic way of getting the size (as in, how much room in data.fs, and/or memory) of an object, like a folder or a basic item? The only thing I could find was a package called mxTools...?

Zope Users in Nevada?
by Michael R. Bernstein 28 Aug '01

Ok, my search for zope users in Southern Nevada has not borne any fruit, so I figured I'd ask if there were any other Zope users anywhere in Nevada at all (north or south). Anyone? Michael Bernstein.

Restriction on file upload sizes on Zope.org
by Martijn Pieters 28 Aug '01

28 Aug '01

Hi all, Due to bandwidth and storage abuse by Warez and MP3 distributors, we were forced to close a few accounts and remove an estimated 2 GB of files, and place some restrictions on File upload sizes. This means that Members can no longer upload files over 500 KB in size. If you try and upload a larger file, you'll notice that you'll get an 'Unauthorized' message (your browser will ask for your username and password). Due to restrictions on when we can see how large a file you uploaded, you won't get to see this message until *after* the upload is completed (which could take a while at those sizes)! If you feel that your larger file upload is justified and relevant, please contact me (through webmaster(a)zope.org) and I'll get you additional access to make unrestricted uploads. Apologies for the inconvenience! -- Martijn Pieters | Software Engineer mailto:mj@zope.com | Zope Corporation http://www.zope.com/ | Creators of Zope http://www.zope.org/ ---------------------------------------------

Well, nevermind, in http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope there is this kind of information near each Hotfix that allready give us information to which versions of zope each HotFix applies. And in http://www.zope.org/Products/ there is the "Latest Hotfixes" section that also do the job. Re: [Zope] Automated Method of Uploading Files to Zope

Are there Python modules that can deal with logging into > Zope, the SSL layer, and file uploading? Is this a good candidate for an > XML-RPC application? Nah, too much work. You should be able to use utilities/load_site.py, an uploading utility for zope. It isn't able to use ssl, but that should be easily circumvented by using tools like stunnel http://www.stunnel.org/ It creates an ssl tunnel to your server and runs on linux and windows (and a plenty of other *nixes) - I used just the linux version. You can than create the tunnel from localhost port 2000 via stunnel -c -d 2000 -r yourzopehost:443 and use load_site.py to connect to localhost:2000. I didn't use stunnel in conjunction with load_site/zope, but it should work. You can find related tools at http://www.openssl.org/related/apps.html cheers, oliver

Beware to HotFix Legacy
by Jlio Dinis Silva 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Hi All, I was having some weird permissions problem, really WEIRD!! After trying everything, really everything, I started to became paranoid and suddenly my mind/clicks went into Control_Panel/Products and my eyes went trough the Product's list stoping on a part of this list where the word "HotFix" appeared several times :-). Since we are long time zope users, and we have a zope production site running long before the first hotfix come out, I asked my self: "Do I really need all this hotfixes installed?". I think it was never said one was forced to uninstall zope hotfixes, i.e, it is safe to leave them installed. Well, I uninstalled the old hotfixes and left only the ones related with my version of zope and voila the weird security problem disappeared. I cant describe the problem I had, because it was really weird but this post is to alert everybody to this possibility, i.e: try to run the latest zope with ALL the hotfixes ever released. Then try to do some programatic stuff like create a simple product with a class and then go and do some methods with manage_changeProducts, manage_addProduct, dtml-with "propertysheets.info", etc, and see if your programming security paradigm is breaked with weird security restrictions you never saw before. Maybe some zope guru :-) could say something about the risk or not of leaving the HotFixes installed. One thing cool would be to on zope.org associate to each release of zope the HotFixes released for it. For instance when we choose a version of zope to download, besides the install information, release information, History information, etc, we could see a list of hotfixes one should apply to that version. Maybe create a class Hotfix on zope.org and then relate it somehow with the /Products/Zope/xxx/ folders. Then when a Hotfix class instance is created the person creating it associate that hotfix with some versions of zope, and when we visit a zope version download page we can see a list of hotfixes released for that version. Upload a file to the file system
by Gilles Lenfant 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Hi, I'm brain dead for a (perhaps) trivial problem for you. I'm trying to upload a file to the file system (using an external method). I got a : <form action="uploadfs" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> ... <input type="file" name="file"> ... <input type="submit" value=" Upload "></form> But I dunno how to handle this from "uploadfs" external method. Any clue ? Thanks in advance. --Gilles

calling manage_addProduct from ZClass method?
by dedmundson＠bigfoot.com 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

I have the following hierarchy: - Products - GPScape (Product) - new_cell (Script) - Cell (ZClass) - split (method, Script) I'm getting an error when my split method tries to execute: line 22: gpscape = container.manage_addProduct(['GPScape']) <<<<<< error line 23: nw = gpscape.new_cell(container,'NW',cn,(cn+cs)/2,(cw+ce)/2,cw) Here, container is an instance of Cell and I'm simply trying to set gpscape as a convenience variable for future use, e.g., the new_cell call in line 23. Any idea why this is an error?
