Documentation Bug
by Christian Theune 27 Aug '01

The DTML Documentation has a slight difference to the real world in it: The description is as follows: raise tag syntax: <dtml-raise ExceptionName|ExceptionExpression> </dtml-raise> but the "expression" is confusing when you want to use userdefined expressions. In plain python it goes following way: >>> try: ... raise "asdf" ... except "asdf": ... print "test" ... except: ... print "notest" ... test >>> So this, combined with the upper description seems to be as following: <dtml-try> <dtml-raise "'stringExc'"> asdf </dtml-raise> <dtml-except "'stringExc'"> your error code here </dtml-try> But, the stringExc is rosen(?) as a 'real' Exception class, so <dtml-except stringExc> would work - which is not clearly at first sight. In the ZopeBook there is a hint on <dtml-raise type="404"> asdf </dtml-raise> which comes up to be the most clean way. The complete working example, most clean imo is following: <dtml-try> <dtml-raise type="userDefined"> asdf </dtml-raise> <dtml-except userDefined> asdf </dtml-except> Any comments on that? virtual hosting and error messages
by ed colmar 27 Aug '01

Hey friends! I've got a bunch of hosts running on one of my zope servers. Apache, and SiteAccess made it happen quickly and easily. I have a question regarding a unique error message I've been seeing. When filling out a form, I have a value that is being passed to zope as "cost:int" The form works fine when filled out correctly, but returns an error if this field is left blank. Now, this is the behaviour that I want, but I'm trying to track down where the error page comes from. This is different than "standard_error", and the really peculiar thing about it is that it pulls in the "standard_html" header and footer from the root folder, which happens to be a completely different host. Needless to say it is very confusing to have an error pop up on a forign looking page. Anyone know where this file is? or how I can trick aquisition into letting me use the standard_header and footer from the site that generated the error? thanks so much! -ed-

Automated Method of Uploading Files to Zope
by Mojo Clark 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Each Monday I take accounting reports from an ancient VAX system and roll them into XML via Python and Perl scripts I have written (Python unzips the files and triggers Perl scripts to process them into XML). I then upload these XML files manually to my remote Zope server using the LocalFS product to upload and manage them. I would like to automate this last part of the process to automatically upload the XML files to the Zope server which runs behind Apache with SSL. I am soliciting suggestions on the best way to upload these files automatically. Are there Python modules that can deal with logging into Zope, the SSL layer, and file uploading? Is this a good candidate for an XML-RPC application? M. start zope on RedHat 7.1
by aaa＠simplesky.com 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Hi there, I can't automatically start Zope2.4.0 on RH7.1 the ./start script works fine, but the "zope" one that's supposed to go inside init.d doesn't do anything (no errors, it looks for zserver.sh, that's not there, and dies). I tried to debug it, but my bash skills are not up to the task. Any idea? Could you share with me your start-up script? Thanks everybody! <G>

acl_users.getUserNames()
by Espen Berge 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Hi! I'm sort of a newbie at this, so I would be most greatful for any help I can get. I have made a CMF-object in Zope, where I have added sume users in the "acl_users"-folder. When I try to log in by the url (I.e. http://zopehost:8080/the_CMF_Object/?__ac_name=some_username_in_the_acl_user s_folder&__ac_password=some_password ), this works fine. It seems as if I am logged in, but when I try to run a dtml-script: <dtml-in "acl_users.getUserNames()"> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> I have to log in as an administrator to see the output of that dtml-script. Why can't I see the output when I'm logged in the CMF-object? Thanks, Espen Berge

extended zope functionality (copy, paste, import)
by ed colmar 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

Hey again! I'm moving on to try and fix some of the weirdnesses with my StarRave code... One main thing I'd like to do is to support zope's copy/paste and import/export features. What are the tricks to doing this? Are there any existing products that I can meditate on that may clue me in? Thanks! -ed-

Script hanging....
by Rustad, Aaron 27 Aug '01

27 Aug '01

I am calling a ZSQLMethod from a python script which in turn gets called from an action form and it seams to be hanging on me. Do I need to redirect the response in this case? Here is my code: context.control.sql.insert_course_chair(title_id=int(person.position), section=person.section, name=person.name, email=person.email, phone=person.phone) It executes correctly, inserting a record, but the page that called it just hangs. Any Help? Thanks! AR.
