Strange "Undo" in modifier object and not in modified object. Bug or feature ?
by Gilles Lenfant 28 Aug '01

Hi, I got a DTML document that changes the value of a property of a folder. It works correctly on Zope 2.3.3. What'a amazing is that the "Undo" of that transaction is logged in the Undo tab of the DTML document (that's not modified) and not in the Undo tab of the folder (which a property is modified). If I "undo" the transaction from the DTML document "undo" tab, it "undoes" the change of the property of the folder... Strange isn't it ? Is it a bug or a feature ? --Gilles

Czech Zope portal
by ViNiL 28 Aug '01

28 Aug '01

Hello! Because I'm missing some czech Zope portal and even some czech zope community, I would try to make some web. It should contain: * some translated news from zope.org * links and highlites of zope-related things * czech mailing list(s) * czech docs * czech zope-related software * maybe some space for members, etc. And now questions: - what do you think of such project, czech readers of this list? - whom should I contact to make this site mentioned on zope.org or is there some national coordinator? Thank you very much for your advices and opinions! -- ViNiL the GNU hippie

CVS/VSS - how are others doing it?
by Meilicke, Scott 28 Aug '01

28 Aug '01

Hello, We taking the first steps towards using zope as an Intranet server. What is the best way to do file repository stuff - CVS/VSS? I know there is ZCVSMixin, however we are (primarily) a windows shop, and use Microsoft VSS. I do use teamdrive, which is able to mount an FTP/WebDav server to a drive letter, which I could then use with VSS, but as far as I know, using FTP/Dav does not preserver object properties. True? If not, and properties can be preserved, are there other issues with this? Thanks - Scott

SortEx module feature request thinking
by Peter Bengtsson 28 Aug '01

28 Aug '01

If you pass an argument to sort on to the SortEx and pass also 'nocase' it breaks if the thing to sort on cannot be case insensitive. This works: r=SortEx(sequence, ( ( 'companyName' , ) , ) ) # and this r=SortEx(sequence, ( ( 'companyName' , 'nocase' ) , ) ) # and this r=SortEx(sequence, ( ( 'modificationTime' , ) , ) ) # But this breaks! of course r=SortEx(sequence, ( ( 'modificationTime' , 'nocase' ) , ) ) Sensible. But suppose that one really doesn't know what one is sorting one? * If its a string property, I want it case-insensitive. * If its a date property, don't pass the 'nocase' thing Maybe there is a way to do this, but I don't know how. So how? If there isn't a way to do this, can I suggest a syntax like this: r=SortEx(sequence, ( ( REQUEST.foobar , 'nocase' , 'anyproperty' ) , ) ) ...or... r=SortEx(sequence, ( ( REQUEST.foobar , 'nocase_nocomplain' ) , ) ) Regards, Peter

retro-fit zClasses with ObjectManager base class
by Trevor Toenjes 28 Aug '01

28 Aug '01

Hi all. I am new to Zope and trying to follow the subclass thread...it seems to relate to my current problem. So I was hoping to get some advice to what I think is a more basic issue. I am in a project using many zClasses and now need to add images to them. However, I did not set them up with ObjectManager. Is there a way to add ObjectManager to an existing zClass? If not, is there a shortcut to import all the data from the existing zClass to the new zClass(with images)? Thanks for the help. -Trevor Toenjes

rendering accented characters from postgres
by Sion Morris 28 Aug '01

28 Aug '01

Hello, ** Many apologies for sending this message as HTML before. ** I'm having problems rendering accented characters from Postgres. A table with publication titles, mostly english, but also with welsh, french and spanish titles does not render accented characters properly in IE or Netscape. Using telnet on a Mac to access Postgres on Linux with psql renders the titles correctly. The postgres table is Latin 1 encoded. Telnet does not attempt any translation as far as I can tell but can display the text correctly. IE has the default character set of Western (Latin 1) but does not render the text correctly; instead of é it displays Z. But, when I change the character set in IE to Western Mac the characters display properly. Clients on Windows do not have this character set. Does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong or which is the best way to do this? Hwyl, Sion

This is the ZSQLMethod selectDepartments I use to have a combo box with all departments. This is what i have in the management interface to try with it before I use it.
