Create or edit instance objects
by Pablo Ziliani 11 Aug '01

11 Aug '01

Dear Zopeists: I guess my problem should be a classical one, but I still haven´t found a solution in any How-to or message in this list, so I have no choice to ask for your help. - HELP!!!! How can I make the same method that creates an instance object to edit it? Note: - my class uses Propertysheets - my class uses random ids. - I would like to avoid to create the instance object before all the data is set in the REQUEST (and the button "create" has been clicked) so no garbage is to be later cleaned. Lots of thanks in advance, PABLO.

How do I keep local managers from accessing the entire site?
by Anders Conradi 11 Aug '01

11 Aug '01

Hi, I have played a bit with Zope, to see if I can use it for a site I plan to set up. My problem is that I don't understand how to configure Zope to have a local manager that manages a sub-folder of my site. I have read the ZopeBook, but I still don't understand. I have tried, from a vanilla 2.4.0 installation, to add a folder (let's call it "spam") and in that folder I create a user folder with one user, who has the manager role. The problem is that the user can access pretty much the entire site. For example, if he goes to the URL "http://mysite:myport/spam/Control_Panel/manage_shutdown" he shuts down the entire site. How do I make his privileges local to the spam folder? Thanks in advance! //Anders

Re: [Zope] Data.fs gone crazy

Hi Tom, I just constructed this scenario: 1) Install a Python Product that is a base class for some ZClasses. 2) Install some ZClasses that inherit from the Python Product class 3) Delete the Python Product and the ZClasses You may now have (I did) some "ghost" zclass entries in the Product registry. The only way I found to get rid of them was to run the code below. (stop Zope, cd to 'lib/python', execute fixit.py from the command line.) You might try running it a few times with the last two lines commented out to make sure your only removing the zclasses you mean to. You might also make a backup of your Data.fs before you do anything else. I have no idea if this has any other nasty side effects, but it worked for me. Good Luck! -steve fixit.py: import Zope x = Zope.app( ) theList = list( x._getProductRegistryData('zclasses')) newList = [] for d in theList: if d['id'] == 'the name of your zclass': print "Skipping .. ", d else: newList.append(d) print newList x._setProductRegistryData( 'zclasses', tuple(newList )) get_transaction().commit() Tom Cameron wrote: > > Steve, > I am certain there are no instances. dtml-in and skip_unauthorized not working?
by Mike Renfro 11 Aug '01

11 Aug '01

I have a very similar problem to the one given by Jean Lagarde at http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-June/093739.html -- I have a number of Squishdot sites, and I'd like to automatically generate a list of Squishdot sites accessible to the current logged-in user. Here's the dtml method (MyFora) I'm using: <ul> <dtml-in findfora skip_unauthorized> <dtml-let item=sequence-item> <dtml-with item> <li><a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var title></a> </dtml-with> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </ul> and here's the Python script (findfora): from string import split, join published = {} meta_types = ('Squishdot Site',) root = None #lets setup the root we will find all our resources from if context.REQUEST.VirtualRootPhysicalPath: root = context.REQUEST.VirtualRootPhysicalPath else: root = ('',) root = context.restrictedTraverse(root) published=[] for obj in context.ZopeFind(root, obj_metatypes=meta_types, search_sub=1): id, obj = obj[0], obj[1] published.append(obj) return published For every authenticated user, it returns a *full* list of Squishdot sites, not just the ones they're authorized to view. Clicking on one of the unauthorized links pops up a login dialog, but I don't even want the links to show up at all (which I thought skip_unauthorized would take care of). As far as I can tell, neither method has any proxy roles attached. What detail did both Jean and I miss in our respective situations? Re: [Zope] Data.fs gone crazy
by Sebastien Bigaret 11 Aug '01

Tom, That problem bit me a few times already... I do not have an explanation for that, except that for some reason, the Data.fs can get corrupted when you uninstall a Product (no kidding ;) --anyway, according to my own experience it seems to only happen with python-based products, not with ZClass. I usually solve the problem by following these steps: 1. export everything you'll need to 'rebuild' the Data.fs 2. stop zope 3. move the Data.fs elsewhere (I really mean 'move it', not delete: it's sooo easy to forget to export some important stuff...) 4. restart zope --it build a brand new Data.fs 5. import all previously exported stuff ...and that's it. Anyway, I am also interested in learning a quicker way to circumvent this problem --and whether it is a bug or not... Hope this helps, Big. ---- "Tom Cameron" <tom(a)mooball.com> wrote: > When I am editing an ZSQL Method and I click on the 'Advanced' tab I get > this response: > > Error Type: ImportError > Error Value: No module named POPMailBase > > Traceback (innermost last): > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in > publish_module > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in > publish > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in > zpublisher_exception_hook > (Object: insertintolists) > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in > publish > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in > mapply > (Object: manage_advancedForm) > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in > call_object > (Object: manage_advancedForm) > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line > 324, in __call__ > (Object: manage_advancedForm) > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line > 354, in _bindAndExec > (Object: manage_advancedForm) > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\App\special_dtml.py, line 236, in _exec > (Object: manage_advancedForm) > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\DA.py, line 544, in > manage_product_zclass_info > (Object: insertintolists) > File D:\Zope\23229D~1.3\lib\python\ZODB\Connection.py, line 533, in > setstate > ImportError: (see above) > > POPMailBase is a completely different Product that I removed a few days ago. > How could the two be related and how do I fix this mess? > > My Database connection keeps dying now and I cant seem to get it to work > anymore. > > This is a Windows 2000 machine zope 2.3.2 > > Tom

metatype of HTMLDocument Class
by Marcus Schopen 10 Aug '01

Hei, how to get the meta type of an HTML Document called testdoc.html? <dtml-var "_['testdoc.html'].meta_type"> doesn't work. Renaming testdoc.html to testdoc and using <dtml-var "testdoc.meta_type"> works fine and shows the meta type "HTML Document". Any idea? zctl.py
by Todd Hepler 10 Aug '01

10 Aug '01

I'm having trouble with the zctl.py script off of http://www.zope.org/Members/dshaw/AdvancedSiteSetup It worked for me with Python-1.5.2 and Zope-2.3.3-src. Now I'm trying it with Python-2.1.1 and Zope-2.4.0-src and I get: > ./zctl.py start Traceback (most recent call last): File "./zctl.py", line 331, in ? _dispatch() File "./zctl.py", line 328, in _dispatch globals()[action](args) File "./zctl.py", line 131, in start start_zeo(zeo_args) File "./zctl.py", line 144, in start_zeo if host == 'localhost' and not _check_for_service(host, port): File "./zctl.py", line 300, in _check_for_service s.connect(host, int(port)) TypeError: connect() takes exactly 1 argument (2 given) Is this zctl.py supposed to work with Python-2.1.1? Did the args for socket.socket.connect() change from 1.5.2 to 2.1.1? -todd
