Simple acquisition for creating pages.
by Peter Borocz 13 Aug '01

I've gotten up the learning curve enough to write some simple external methods but something really simple has me completely stumped. I'd like to provide a simple "who maintains this folder" at the bottom of every page. I THOUGHT that folder-level acquisition would allow me do this easily by including a dtml-var in my standard_html_footer that would pick up an optional dtml object entry from a respective folder further "down" the hierarchy. However, since my standard-html-footer is only at the root level, I never get a dtml-var included from a "lower" folder, only the one from the root. I've read through the Zope book multiple times and can't find a workaround while searching the mailing list archives is not easy! Here's the simplest that I'm looking for: Root: -Standard_html_footer (containing <dtml-var Maintainer>). -Maintainer (dtml document with a link to person JOE) Folder-A ---- some-dtml-doc (with a reference to <dtml-var standard_html_footer>) Folder-B ---- another-dtml-doc (with a reference to <dtml-var standard_html_footer>) ---- Maintainer (dtml document with person BOB) Results: Folder-A should display JOE for every page while Folder-B should display BOB at the bottom of every page. What am I doing wrong or not understanding? Is there a different mechanism I need to use in standard_html_footer for the <dtml-var maintainer> to TELL it to use something locally first? Is this a dtml-document vs. dtml-method thing?? Any help much appreciated.. Re: ZGDChart for Zope 2.4.0

I forget what error I got when I tried the same (I don't think it was the same as yours), but replacing the gdchart.pyd file with the Python 2.1 version available at http://athani.pair.com/msteed/software/gdchart/download.html seems to have done the trick for me. That site only has win32 binaries; you'll have to recompile if you're on another platform. Cheers, Jean

RE: [Zope] index of pdf docs / doc mgmt

That won't work; ZpdfDocument is for _creating_ PDFs... Use "Document Library" instead. It uses the pdf2text program on a unix box (installed with Xpdf package) to index full-text of the PDF contents. We use it to index vendor documentation and Visio diagrams output in PDF format; I'm sure this would work for you, one way or another. http://www.zope.org/Members/Kaivo/DocumentLibrary If nothing else, you could use the PDF file extraction code within DocumentLibrary in your own solution... The Zope Experts, I am a new user in zope, then there is a need for me to incorporate an existing database of an org. into their newly design website so that user can query the database. Presently i don't know any single thing on how to do this. But before i started craking my brain i want to you to give me the fundamental concept of how this thing work. Tkanks in anticipation for your supports. Hamzat kamal

HTTP upload - filesize limit
by Gitte Wange 13 Aug '01

13 Aug '01

Hello, I have created a product in Zope which is based on external files. The problem is that everything works okay if I upload a file with a filesize of 10 MB. But it fails if I upload a file with a filesize of 18 MB. When I worked with PHP there was a limit in the php.ini file where you set the maximum size of an uploaded file. Does the same work for python/Zope or is it something else that is wrong ?
