How to install zope with apache--by writing rewrite rule in .htaccess(URGENT)
by Dhanu 03 Aug '01

03 Aug '01

Hai, we have a problem here. Our customer has a site already running in apache and we have to add the zope to it ,so that we can develop some good content management system for them. Main issue is,the client is running site on ISP and he says he has access only to ".htaccess file" and he cannot modify http.conf file.I know that we can have zope running with apache using rewrite rule on http.conf file.Infact it is working fine in our place. Is there way to do the same with out modifying http.conf file and using .htaccess file. This is very urgent, If any body knows answer ,please reply to me soon. Thanks for your valuable time, regards, Dhanu

The edit method of your "context" does not have an argument "Description", maybe a typo. Dieter

change Catalog name using self.reindex_object()
by Marcus Schopen 03 Aug '01

03 Aug '01

Hi, I use self.reindex_object() in a python script to update my Catalog when changing the objects content. The ZClass is catalog aware. Now I'd like to use not the default Catalog but a catalog called e.g. CatalogNews. Is there a possibility to reindex to CatalogNews or is just default Catalog possible? Thank you Marcus -- _____________________________________ (0> Marcus Schopen //\ P.O. method marshalling
by Tommy Johnson 03 Aug '01

03 Aug '01

I seem to remember someone telling me that I could marshal methods from form submit buttons. Currently, I use JavaScript to change the form's action property. So based on what button you press, you will go to the corresponding method. Example: I have a form that has three submit buttons that need to do different things: update, remove, or continue. I want each button to go to a different action method. With javascript, it's easy, based on what button I press, I just change the form's action property, and then immediately submit the form. But how do I do that with Zope's marshalling technique? I heard something:methodName, but what property of the submit button do I append the :methodname to? Show Viewable folders
by Montagne, Michael 03 Aug '01

03 Aug '01

I'm trying to display only the folders that a User has viewing rights to. The following code snippets are my two different attempts that both seem flawed. I created a user and a role. Only when that user is assigned the Manager role at the root level will the ifs test true. I'm deselecting Acquire permission settings and checking view for the role. I know this is working because I can view the folder. I tested this by unchecking View and relying on Acquisition. When I did this, I could not view the folder, just as it should be. So it seems something in these code snippets is screwy. What could it be? <dtml-in expr="PARENTS[0].objectValues('Folder')"> <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_permission('View','<dtml-sequence-item>')"> <li><a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> <dtml-else> Nope<br> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> <dtml-in expr="PARENTS[0].objectValues('Folder')"> <dtml-if expr="_.SecurityCheckPermission('View','<dtml-sequence-item>')"> <li><a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> <dtml-else> Nope<br> </dtml-if> </dtml-in>

Re: [Zope] mod_gzip

> Hello all, > Does anybody know if mod_gzip howto : > http://www.zope.org/Members/Mamey/mod_gzip is still up to date with Zope > 2.4 > ? > Is the given patch really necessary ? > Thanx ! Hi Olivier, I installed mod_gzip some time ago on a production server. It happily runs since appr. 3 months in front of some zope servers (configured with VHM and mod_rewrite). I can't remember patching the source, and given the time difference between the howto (2000/11/01) and the mod_gzip release (03/08/01) I doubt that this is still necessary. One caveat though, I had one problem with some 5.0.x IE's, it suddenly had problems with one frame of a frameset. But since it only seems to happen on one IE out of appr. 10 I tested (with the _same_ version number), I ignored it. cheers, oliver

Folder visibility
by Montagne, Michael 03 Aug '01

03 Aug '01

I'm working on a site that will have multiple users. Each user should only be allowed to see the folders that they need to see. How do I control the visibility of folders based on users? I only see how to do it based on roles. -mjm
