form action with python script
by Sabrina 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

Hi, I'm working with a Python Script in Zope but I'm having some problems. I'm trying to call a python script in a "form action" because I have to make some calculations with some values of this form. I call like this: <form name="form1" action="a_python_script"> but normally a form action calls another page. So, the question is: I'd like to call a python script and, in this script, make a redirect to another page(url). Can I do that?? I hope you can help me :) Sorry if I'm not being clear! structured text bug in Zope 2.4.0 warning
by Peter Bengtsson 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

I just posted this: http://classic.zope.org:8080/Collector/2487/view Basically, in Zope 2.4.0, the use of structured_text() returns little <html> and <body> tags too. I _had_ this working fine: from DocumentTemplate.DT_Var import structured_text def ShowDescription(text): """ Display text, using harmless HTML """ text = text.replace('<','<') text = text.replace('>','>') st = structured_text(text) # BUG in structured_text in Zope 2.4.0 # it returns these annoying tags. st = st.replace('<html>','') st = st.replace('<body>','') st = st.replace('</body>','') st = st.replace('</html>','') return st ...but had to patch it to this: from DocumentTemplate.DT_Var import structured_text def ShowDescription(text): """ Display text, using harmless HTML """ text = text.replace('<','<') text = text.replace('>','>') return structured_text(text) I just wanted to warn you because this is only a problem on the surface (the HTML). Some of my formatting looked the same when using IE, but with Opera I noticed the difference because the structured text refused to stay center aligned despite that I had this: <div align="center"><dtml-var "ShowDescription(REQUEST['text'])"></div> So, be careful if you use Zope 2.4.0, structured text. The worst that can happen is that the HTML is so invalid that it doesn't work on some browsers. Cheers, Peter

Flash XMLRPC clients for Zope ....
by Nigel Head 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

I saw an enquiry a while back about Flash XML-RPC clients. After some spelunking I can add my 2 eurocents to the situation ... unfortunately not good news. The Flash player (version 42, AFAIK the newest) now claims to allow the setting of the Content-type, necessary for getting Zope to agree that this is xmlrpc, but still appears to have a bug where it appends a few garbage characters after the desired value. Zope checks for exact content type of text/xml and therefore fails to recognise the request. I haven't found a way to persuade the flash player not to do this although one may exist. I have patched my Zoep to check only the first 8 characters, this then works OK, but is ugly, and incorrect! I'll report the assumed bug to M'media and see what they have to say! regards, Nigel.

Help! I got locked out!
by Sean Hummel 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

I've gotten locked out of the database, and I can't get back in again. This was of course due to my own stupid playing with the database security. Is there a tool which can help me change back the security on the administrative user? I've put a lot of work into this and would hate to lose all my work because I was trying to setup user access.

Parse multiple folder
by Jan Ulrich Hasecke 05 Aug '01

05 Aug '01

Hi, I have 100 folders 1900 1901 ... 1999 2000 and in every folder there is a folder called "Texte". Inside this folder there are DTML Documents. Then I have this Method ,----[ textliste ] | <dtml-in expr="Texte.objectValues()"> | | <p><a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var title></a> | von <dtml-var autor></p> | | </dtml-in> `---- On a contentspage I call this method using dtml-with like this_ ,----[ contents_dtml ] | <dtml-with 1900> | <dtml-var textliste> | </dtml-with> | | <dtml-with 1901> | <dtml-var textliste> | </dtml-with> | | and so on `---- Now a have two questions: 1. Is it possible to use something like <dtml-with [1900-2000]> to get all texts with one command. 2. How can I make a random textlist. I tried to do somethine like <dtml-with randomline> <dtml-var textliste> </dtml-with> where randomline is the Product from phd. Is it possible to call dtml-with with a random value so that I get a list of a random folder? Problem: Calling DTML Method from ZPT
by Mike Murphy 05 Aug '01

05 Aug '01

Hi! I am having problems executing a DTML Method from a ZPT. I have been unable to find documentation regarding whether this is even possible or not. Here are a couple of examples: <p tal:replace="python:root.games.hangman.index_html"></p> <p tal:replace="root/games/hangman/index_html"></p> Anybody have any ideas what it is that I am doing wrong? I like ZPT conceptually, and ran into this snag while converting some of my DTML. (I am running Zope 2.4.0 with the latest hotfix.) Mike

ATTN: Zope Security Alert
by Chris McDonough 04 Aug '01

04 Aug '01

A new Zope hotfix has been issued which addresses an important security issue that affects Zope version 2.3.3, all Zope 2.4.0 alpha and beta releases, as well as the final release of Zope 2.4.0. We *highly* recommend that any Zope site running Zope 2.3.3, Zope 2.4.0 final or any alpha or beta version of 2.4.0 have this hotfix product installed to mitigate the issue. Zope 2.4.1 will contain a fix for the issue, at which time the hotfix can be removed. Zope versions prior to 2.3.3 are not affected by this issue. Thanks to Ron Bickers for providing a reproducible test case For more information, see: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_2001-08-04/README.txt http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_2001-08-04/Hotfix_2001_08_04.tgz ---------- Chris McDonough Zope Corporation http://www.zope.org http://www.zope.com """ Killing hundreds of birds with thousands of stones """
