precondition with File: Python Script does not work ?
by greulen＠freeler.nl 31 Jul '01

Hi I have a page with downloadable files and wish to count the downloads. I found a 'precondition'-option with the File object. This presummably calls the Method or Document specified before download wil start. The precondition is: counter_download(thefile='zip') In the same folder I have specified the counter_download as a Python Script: parameter: thefile if thefile=='doc': context.manage_changeProperties(doc_downloads=context.getProperty ('doc_downloads')+1) if thefile=='zip': context.manage_changeProperties(zip_downloads=context.getProperty ('zip_downloads')+1) return "ok" And the same folder also has these properties defined. The Python Script works fine when I test it and also the downloads are ok. However, the counting does not happen ?! Any ideas ? Regards Gijs

User Security.
by Jason C. Leach 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

hi, I have various folders I need to give specific users access to, but not others. Am I going to have to create a acl_users in each of these sub folders, of can I authenticate them in the parent folder only? If so, how do I restrict them to the specific folders ( and child objects of this folder)? Thanks, jason. -- ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach ..

Factory method needs superuser authentication
by Christian Theune 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

Hi. I wrote a product when reading the Developers Guide for Zope 2.4. Now i ran into a problem I can't resolve: The Product is registered successfully and i can click "add" in a folder view. Then it asks me some things on the add-form (everything is right til now). But when i then click add, zope refuses to call the manage_addDefaultCrosstable and prompts me for proper authentication. I have been logged in as manager, and then changed to the superuser account. As superuser he allowed me to call the factory method but refused to create the object (naturally). What do i have to look for? I added some parts of the involved files. Thanks again Christian --- GCrosstable.py [...] def manage_addDefaultCrosstable(self, id, REQUEST=None): """Factory for instanciating a crosstable.""" handler=DefaultCrosstable(id, REQUEST) self._setObject(id, handler) --- __init__.py import GCrosstable def initialize(registrar): registrar.registerClass( GCrosstable.DefaultCrosstable, constructors = (GCrosstable.manage_addDefaultCrosstableForm, GCrosstable.manage_addDefaultCrosstable), ) --- dtml/addCrosstable.dtml <form action="manage_addDefaultCrosstable." method="post"> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="0"> <tr> -- Christian Theune - ct(a)gocept.com gocept gmbh & co.kg - schalaunische strasse 6 - 06366 koethen/anhalt tel.+49 3496 3099112 - fax.+49 3496 3099118 mob. - 0178 48 33 981 reduce(lambda x,y:x+y,[chr(ord(x)^42) for x in 'zS^BED\nX_FOY\x0b'])

Looking for beta testers: Windows gvib for Python 2.1
by Brad Clements 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

I've inherited the gvib database adapter from Bob Tierney a few months ago, finally getting around to creating a binary release for Python 2.1 for Windows. If you're moving to Zope 2.4 and using Interbase on Windows, you'll need this. Please send me a note and I'll email you the gvib adapter self-installer. [Observation] "None object has no method load"
by Dieter Maurer 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

For the archives: Today, I used a Zope 2.3.3 to extend an application. Suddenly, Zope reported "Attribute error, getUserByName". I check the log file and found "Could not load lots of "<Object id>", "None" object has not method "load". Restarting Zope let the problem disappear. I am unaware, that I did any special things before the problem occured. Dieter

logo protected word
by Peter Bengtsson 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

Creating an image called "logo" in the root of a Zope 2.3.3 (haven't tested any other) doesn't work. I appears "broken" but has the right dimensions when you try to view it. Renaming it to anything solves the problem. (pretty fresh install I think so not a lot of products) Bug? Reported?

Huh? Undefined symbol "ERR_load_RSAREF_strings"
by Tosh Cooey 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

I'm trying to install Zope for the first time and have come upon a little problem. I initially tried building and installing from source, but ran into a problem when trying to 'start' Zope. I am using PCGI and so after building my virtual host file as I found from the documentation and hitting the 'manage' page I got the "Temporarily Unavailable" message. A little RTFM later and it seems this happens if there are problems starting Zope, so I check to see if it even runs with the 'start' command, here's what I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/www/Zope/z2.py", line 542, in ? import ZServer File "/usr/local/www/Zope/ZServer/__init__.py", line 87, in ? from medusa import max_sockets, asyncore File "/usr/local/www/Zope/ZServer/medusa/max_sockets.py", line 2, in ? import socket File "/usr/local/lib/python2.1/socket.py", line 41, in ? from _socket import * ImportError: /usr/local/lib/libcrypto.so.1: Undefined symbol "ERR_load_RSAREF_strings" I'm running FreeBSD 3.4 and specifying the port 8880 with -w8880 in the 'start' file because there is a Shoutcast server running on 8080 After searching the net and mail archives for a solution to this I decide to try the 'ports' collection of Zope from FreeBSD.org since some mail list messages suggest this can fix most Zope issues WRT FreeBSD. Some downloading and modifying later (-w8880) I hit the 'manage' function again, but this time I don't get the "Temporarily Unavailable" error, I get a webserver error, and the web error log file says: Premature end of script headers: /usr/local/www/cgi-bin.default/Zope.cgi So I try to see if the Zope process will even run, and again I get the same error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/www/Zope/z2.py", line 542, in ? import ZServer File "/usr/local/www/Zope/ZServer/__init__.py", line 87, in ? from medusa import max_sockets, asyncore File "/usr/local/www/Zope/ZServer/medusa/max_sockets.py", line 2, in ? import socket File "/usr/local/lib/python2.1/socket.py", line 41, in ? from _socket import * ImportError: /usr/local/lib/libcrypto.so.1: Undefined symbol "ERR_load_RSAREF_strings" So now I am thoroughly confused. It's certainly not an issue of ports vs. source. There's nothing about libcrypto.so.1 in the mail archives, nor Google (in the context of Zope) and so I have no idea how to solve this, can anyone share any insight? Thanks!!! Tosh

dtml-tree - Processes all banches and sub branches? How to Stop this?
by P Cowley 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

Hello, I am using a dtml-tree. The tree automatically queries all open branches and sub branches each time an expansion or compression (the + or -) is pressed. It does this for all open branches, not just the new one I clicked. This is very time consuming for me. How can I have it only query for information from the new branch I clicked, and have it just remember the state of the other banches without re-querying them. I am familiar with "assume_children" and "single", but these dont' really solve my problem. THanks! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
