hi, I have various folders I need to give specific users access to, but not others. Am I going to have to create a acl_users in each of these sub folders, of can I authenticate them in the parent folder only? Factory method needs superuser authentication

Hi. I wrote a product when reading the Developers Guide for Zope 2.4. Now i ran into a problem I can't resolve: The Product is registered successfully and i can click "add" in a folder view. Then it asks me some things on the add-form (everything is right til now). But when i then click add, zope refuses to call the manage_addDefaultCrosstable and prompts me for proper authentication. I have been logged in as manager, and then changed to the superuser account. As superuser he allowed me to call the factory method but refused to create the object (naturally). What do i have to look for? I added some parts of the involved files. I've inherited the gvib database adapter from Bob Tierney a few months ago, finally getting around to creating a binary release for Python 2.1 for Windows. [Observation] "None object has no method load"

For the archives: Today, I used a Zope 2.3.3 to extend an application. Suddenly, Zope reported "Attribute error, getUserByName". I check the log file and found "Could not load lots of "<Object id>", "None" object has not method "load". Restarting Zope let the problem disappear. I am unaware, that I did any special things before the problem occured. Dieter

logo protected word

Creating an image called "logo" in the root of a Zope 2.3.3 (haven't tested any other) doesn't work. I appears "broken" but has the right dimensions when you try to view it. Renaming it to anything solves the problem. (pretty fresh install I think so not a lot of products) Bug? Reported?

I'm trying to install Zope for the first time and have come upon a little problem. I initially tried building and installing from source, but ran into a problem when trying to 'start' Zope. I am using PCGI and so after building my virtual host file as I found from the documentation and hitting the 'manage' page I got the "Temporarily Unavailable" message. A little RTFM later and it seems this happens if there are problems starting Zope, so I check to see if it even runs with the 'start' command, here's what I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/www/Zope/z2.py", line 542, in ? import ZServer File "/usr/local/www/Zope/ZServer/__init__.py", line 87, in ? from medusa import max_sockets, asyncore File "/usr/local/www/Zope/ZServer/medusa/max_sockets.py", line 2, in ? import socket File "/usr/local/lib/python2.1/socket.py", line 41, in ? from _socket import * ImportError: /usr/local/lib/libcrypto.so.1: Undefined symbol "ERR_load_RSAREF_strings" I'm running FreeBSD 3.4 and specifying the port 8880 with -w8880 in the 'start' file because there is a Shoutcast server running on 8080 After searching the net and mail archives for a solution to this I decide to try the 'ports' collection of Zope from FreeBSD.org since some mail list messages suggest this can fix most Zope issues WRT FreeBSD. dtml-tree - Processes all banches and sub branches? How to Stop this?

Hello, I am using a dtml-tree. The tree automatically queries all open branches and sub branches each time an expansion or compression (the + or -) is pressed. It does this for all open branches, not just the new one I clicked. This is very time consuming for me. How can I have it only query for information from the new branch I clicked, and have it just remember the state of the other banches without re-querying them. I am familiar with "assume_children" and "single", but these dont' really solve my problem. THanks! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? WebDrive & Zope's WebDAV

I've used WebDrive for a while w/FTP access (to Zope and other things), but haven't been able to get it working w/Zope's WebDAV. There are no error messages generated, but the folder never displays any content whatsoever. Has anyone been successful with this? Large Data.fs Problems

Hi, Can anyone suggest anything to alleviate the pain of stopping and starting a Zope instance with a Data.fs in excess of 1400Mb? The current setup is CompressedStorage layered on top of FileStorage and startup seems to take about 5-10 minutes, which is not great during product development :-S Also not helped by CompressedStorage throwing CorruptDataErrors all the time :-S Any help would be worth much beer... cheers, Chris
