WebDrive & Zope's WebDAV
by Joel Burton 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

I've used WebDrive for a while w/FTP access (to Zope and other things), but haven't been able to get it working w/Zope's WebDAV. There are no error messages generated, but the folder never displays any content whatsoever. Has anyone been successful with this? Any ideas? -- Joel Burton <jburton(a)scw.org> Director of Information Systems, Support Center of Washington

Large Data.fs Problems
by Chris Withers 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

Hi, Can anyone suggest anything to alleviate the pain of stopping and starting a Zope instance with a Data.fs in excess of 1400Mb? The current setup is CompressedStorage layered on top of FileStorage and startup seems to take about 5-10 minutes, which is not great during product development :-S Also not helped by CompressedStorage throwing CorruptDataErrors all the time :-S Any help would be worth much beer... cheers, Chris

I don't think compressed storage would be related to this; though I have never used it, my understaing is that it only compresses large objects; the initialization of the db may have more to do with the number of objects (including old/deleted stuff)... LocalFS customization - Upload Method
by Benoit Dominiak 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

Hi everybody, I'm trying to build a big file library which can be accessible through my zope server. So I've installed LocalFS. It's very good but I'd like to customize it a little bit : I made a Zclass wich contain informations concerning one file (like title, author, subject...). I'd like to be able to upload a file in my LocalFS object (easily with a form) and then to create a Zclass instance whith the id of the file. How can I modify the upload method to be able to do that ? Thank you in advance. Zope Page Layouter available???
by Philipp Robbel 30 Jul '01

30 Jul '01

Hi everyone, one quick question: is there a Zope Product similar to a Website-Template configureable to the following layout: checkbox (yes/no) Title [ ] checkbox (yes/no) Description [ ] checkbox (yes/no) Picture [upload...] checkbox (yes/no) People [select box filled from a database ] checkbox (yes/no) Links [ ] `-> more... The user can interactively choose the categories he wants on the created page and fill in the boxes. That kind of product would be important for me since I'm dealing with clients who don't want to deal with HTML nor Zope DTML. If such a product is not available, can anyone at least point me to a place to start to create such a product? I was going to create a normal DTMLDocument called "Page Layouter" (including a form with the options outlined above). After the user presses submit, a python script is called that creates another DTMLDocument with the selected options. All I need would be some python code to get me started: My current problem is an Edit function for the created DTMLDocuments... or should I do something completely different? Thanks in advance, Philipp
