I am considering writing a small bare bones Learning Management System in Zope. Before I jump into this, however: 1. Are there any Zope-based LMS/CMS products/projects out there? 2. Has anyone done any LMS work with Zope? Any and all advice on this would be appreciated. Michael Caulfield Cognitive Arts (847) 425-8529

Created a Perl Method and tried to do a 'use Data::Dumper'. I got an error saying 'require trapped by operation mask'. What does this mean? I thought I saw some examples in the Zope book using LWP::Agent even. How to I use perl packages in a Perl Method?

Newbie: Help with dtml-tree
by P Cowley 26 Jul '01

I have been trying to get a very simple tree up in ZOPE but nothing comes up. Now I am trying just the most simple example I can find, still nothing. What is the most basic tree code just to see it work once? Should this work "AS IS": <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-tree> <dtml-var id> </dtml-tree> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? But this change is going in. It won't go in until Python 3.0, per Guido (how is now a co-author of the PEP). It also means it will be _at_least_ 2 years before Python 3.0 (and hence this change) comes out. Now there is a warning mechanism that will be in place, however I don't know how (or even IF) the zope mechanism will surface to the Python Methods or *gasp* dtml writers any warnings. We're probably going to write 2 external functions: intdiv and floatdiv and use those in place of '/' def intdiv(x, y): return int(divmod(x,y)[0]) def floatdiv(x,y): return float(x)/y although I think gozinta may be a better name for intdiv ;) -- Tom Jenkins devIS - Development Infostructure http://www.devis.com

RE: [Zope] Project FTP Site

Yes, I've tinkered with CMF, shows much promise. I had trouble though, finding documentation to help me set it up. Specifically, I couldn't figure out how to create a consistent home page for the site that all users see. >From there they can go to their own sites. And in this case, Even the sites for each project would look very similar, but with different content. They would not be customizable by the visitors. What is the best source for docs? -mjm -----Original Message----- From: Ausum [mailto:augusto@artlover.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2001 3:11 PM To: zope(a)zope.org; montagne(a)BOORA.com Subject: Re: [Zope] Project FTP Site You have in hands a nice opportunity to start using CMF, like it is right now, out of the box. CMF is a portal framework that allows their users to upload every content they want to a folder of their own, and publish what they want; and by having the Autocad drawings exposed through http and not ftp, your users will have the chance to review them online, using the browser plugin. All the dwgs (as any other content type) will have metadata to help their finding, and also all of them will be discussable, if you want it, and the discussion items will be searchable as well. (as any picture, document, news, etc, is) Doesn't it sound good enough? :) There's an issue if you don't want to use the default login manager/users base. But that's something you'll work out with the help of the list. Ausum "Montagne, Michael" wrote: > > Here is my problem: > I need to create a project site for an archiectural office. Hi all Just a litte FYI. This piece of content: The 64-bit parallel FEKO version for HP-UX 11.00 gives an internal error 3978 (segmentation violation) during the phase “Backwards substitution” when an out-of-core solution is performed. in a Page Template results in this error: Fixing the entity refs solves the error. ZWiki and SiteAccess problems
by Gregor Hoffleit 26 Jul '01

26 Jul '01

Is it only me, or does ZWiki have problems with SiteAccess ? I have an SiteRoot with a Base path like http://host.x.y/~flight, but all the links in ZWiki's header and footer are broken, since they don't mirror the "~flight" part of the SiteRoot base. I fixed the obvious problems by patching ZWikiPage.py's wiki_page_url() and wiki_base_url() functions from return '/' + self.absolute_url(relative=1) to return self.absolute_url(relative=0) Strangely, that does the work for me, but I have a strong feeling that that's not the correct and complete fix for the problem. This is with the WikiForNow tarball, but the code in 0.8.1 looks identical. Gregor PS: zwiki.org and joyful.com seem to be down since at least yesterday. Does anybody know what's going on ? PPS: What's the fastest way to set up a new ZWiki site so that people get a change to register as users?

Copy file in filesystem
by Gitte Wange 26 Jul '01

26 Jul '01

Hello out there .. I know this is a python question (please forgive me) but I couldn't find an answer in the python docs. The problem is very simple - I need to make a copy of a file in the filesystem in a pythhon module. I have tried with this: import copy <a lot of code> copy(file_reposit, new_fnreposit) </a lot of code> I get this error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: TypeError Error Value: call of non-function (type module) If I don't use the import copy Zope just returns an error saying that copy isn't defined. How do I then make a copy of a file ???
