Help cannot longer access virtual site root

I run a virtual domain behind an apache proxy. As of today, without obvious reason I cannot access my virtual domains root folder in the manage screen. When I try to open it, zope returns the view on the virtualhostmonster object. It is however still possible to access the Zope root folder and other subfolders (including another virtual domain). Also the site (non management view) still works fine. I removed the virtualhostmonster object, but now when I try to get into my site root folder I get the following error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Resource not found Sorry, the requested Zope resource does not exist. Check the URL and try again. Hi Gitte, unfortunately this is as wrong as it can be ;) Hint: you can get a bit familar with python, if you just run the interpreter binary and type some code interactively. "import copy" puts the _module_ named "copy" in the namespace. This module happens to define a function called copy. So if you want to use that function, you have either type copy.copy() or use another flavour of the import statement: from copy import copy While this would solve your first error, you will probably get a new then, since this copy function is not for copying files in the filesystem. Its for copying python objects. (So you can copy the fileobject (but this is only a handle to the file on disk)) I'm afraid there is no copy for the filesystem. You can do it by opening one file for reading and another for writing. While its ok for small files to read all into memory, this can make problems, if the files are very large. So you might copy in smaller chunks: source=open(sourcefile) # if you are on windows and want to copy binary # files, you must use open(sourcefile,'rb') dest=open(destfile,'w') # or 'wb' for binary chunk=1 # dummy value for while while chunk: chunk=source.read(65536) # 64 KB in one chunk, you can tune this value dest.write(chunk) dest.close() source.close() HTH Tino Wildenhain while chunk --On Donnerstag, 26. Hi Ricardo, Can you be more specific? Pre 2.4 Zopes running Python 1.5 are going to use the 'DCO2-NT-Beta3.ZIP'. Zope 2.4 needs the '2.1 Linked NT Beta 3 build'. I can verify that the latter works with Zope 2.4 and Oracle 8.1.5 (at least on my machine ;->). Jim

Hello! I'd like to make files in the OS (Linux), under Zope. I try this, but it doesn't work. DTML method: <dtml-call expr="writeFile(this(), id='test')"> Python Script "writeFile": filename = '/tmp/' + id file = open(filename, 'w') file.write('foo, bar, text\n') file.close But I get an error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: open How should I try this? PIL not working in Zope

have spent some time now trying to get PIL to work in Zope. When I call it in python it works fine and I seem to be able to use all functions without trouble. But from Zope I get all sorts of errors. I am trying to resize an image to a thumbnail. I started by writing my own code and after no success I finally found the code on this page http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/ScriptingZope.html it looked almost identical to mine, but I tried it to be sure and I still get the same errors. What I have noticed is this: If I use the code exactly as is, I get the following error: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: expected string, ImplicitAcquirerWrapper found  If I change the 'cStringIO' over to 'StringIO' I get the following error: Error Type: IOError Error Value: image file is truncated, 7 bytes left in buffer  With more testing I have found that the error occures on the line: image=image.convert('RGB') I can open the image, I can also query its size and format, but the moment I try to manipulate the image these errors occur. Reactor on a folder

How do I attach a reactor to a folder. When someone adds a file to the database via FTP, I want to give them the option to email a group of users. I also need to log some activity when this happens. But how do i react to the event? -mjm

I think Guido is right in his idea that this should be integrated in 3.0+, so this SHOULD NOT be that big of a deal. That will keep it far off enough that it will not have a severe impact. I think fixing a design bug in the language and just getting it done with is a good thing... Integer division operator // will be integrated into 2.2 to allow for us to start writing good code premptively before 3.0... This has nothing to do with English; frankly, just let a loosely typed language realize just that in it's arithmetic philosophy... those python programmers formerly indoctrinated with Pascal's div and mod operations, for example, might just enjoy a common-sense change consistent with the notion that in 99% of everyday real world math, an integer is just an easy to write notation for a float...
