The Zope Book (in my hands) and StructedText
by Ron Bickers 24 Jul '01

I got my copy of The Zope Book today and it looks good. Well, it looks like every other New Riders book, but that's good enough for me. Thank you Amos and Michel for driving this and of course thanks to everyone else involved. I'm particularly impressed that it was written in StructuredText (is it appropriate to call it STX?) and converted into the necessary formats for publishing. I had the opportunity the other day to suggest that someone use STX for their documentation project (which is much smaller than a book), but I couldn't convince them for several reasons. First, there is no STX module (that I know of) packaged outside of Zope and there appears to be a separate unsynchronized version in The Zope Book CVS. Are they the same and I just don't know it or are they in fact different versions? Also, short of pulling some scripts out of The Zope Book CVS, I don't know of any documentation or packaged tools for converting or otherwise processing STX (outside of Zope). I'm particularly interested in the possibility of converting to GNU info format and man pages, if that's even a reasonable thing to expect. I wouldn't be against writing converters myself if there isn't already another way. Are there plans to package STX as a separate module along with documentation and tools for converting to various popular formats? Thanks! _______________________ Ron Bickers Logic Etc, Inc.

Oh, I was wrong, my code doesn't work as it's supposed to do. Right now it always displays the "This site is not available" message, even if there is a index.html in the subfolder :-( I can't think of a working solution, anyone able to help? Thanks again, Philipp

Re: Can't import a ZObjectManager instance in 2.3.3

Hello, FYI, this was a bug WITHIN the ZClass product himself (i don't know how it's possible and what is the reason) because i've recreate the ZClass from scratch and the problem disapeared. May be some renames thru this ZClass life ? Anyway it seems to work now ;-)) Cheers. --- In zope@y..., "Didier Georgieff" <dgeorgief1@c...> wrote: > I have a simple ZClass derived from ObjectManager (ZObject, > ZObjectManager). > I can' t import any instance of the container ZClass. > Traceback (innermost last): > File D:\Zope\Zope233EzPortal\lib\python\OFS\CopySupport.py, line 444, in _verifyObjectPaste > (Object: ApplicationDefaultPermissions) > Copy Error: (see above)

Re: [Zope] Netscape doesn't recognize dtml-doc as html

>From: Dieter Maurer <dieter(a)handshake.de> >It is not relevant for the recognition as HTML. > >DTML objects set the "Content-Type" to "text/html" by default. >You need to do special things to prevent them to do this. I didn't do anything special. The only special thing is, that the dtml-docs don't have a 'file'-extension (e.g. .html or .htm). All files with .html extension are rendered by Netscape. Those without an extension are tried to download as a file. If your dtml-doc has no extension (as in my case) it is displayed ok by e.g. Internet Explorer, but not by Netscape 4.7x. I created a seperate dtml-method with the content <content type: text/html> and included this method in my standard_html_header. Now it works. This seems to be a Netscape problem which has to be taken care of by Zope users! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

This should include a mechanism for properties too. But how would folders be handled then? One could invent "special" files in folders that contain the properties, but this becomes ugly very fast. I would *love* to handle most of the Zope stuff outside of Zope to be able to use all the common tools (editors, diff, patch, cvs, ...) Regards, Frank

ZSQL question
by Kerekes Lajos 24 Jul '01

24 Jul '01

Hello! I have a problem. I have a form, which contains 10 chekboxes. All checkboxes names are IDS. And the values are different. I made a ZSQL method: "update Table set STATE = 2 where UID = <dtml-sqlvar id type=string>" If I test it with the Test tab of Zope ZSQLmethod , it works. If I call it from a dtml method, like <dtml-call expr="updateZSQL(id='dasdasds-gsd-gwwe-bgvsdg')">, it works fine. But I cant use the values from the form. I try this: <dtml-in IDS> <br><dtml-var sequence-item> <dtml-call expr="updateZSQL(id='<dtml-var sequence-item>')"> </dtml-in> It only writes the values of checkboxes to the HTML page, but doesn't make the update in the database. What is wrong in it? Bye: Lajos
