ERROR 27 FILE TOO LARGE

Hi ! I'm having the following error each time I try to save some changes: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: IOError Error Value: [Errno 27] File too large I can't find what is it. If you have any hint let me know please. Thanks very much. Alejandro Singer

Old ZClass still there

If I removed ZClass product XYZ and import a new one called XYZ which is an updated version that I have been working on at home, how can I "force" the instance of it to use the new code? My Zope2.3.0 is in -D. peter

Ok, dumb mistake. After exchanging index_html/html with index.html/htm, it works somehow... Can anyone still think of any pitfalls? thanks again, Philipp

PIL and JPG encoder.

I know this is mostly a python/PIL question, but I figured someone here may have experienced this. I am using FreeBSD4.0, Python1.5.2 I am trying to use PIL to manipulate Zope images. I already have the IJG jpeg-6b library installed. I then successfully (at least it looked successful) built and installed PIL. PIL works fine for all image formats except JPEG. I am very new as this sort of thing and I know almost nothing about building from source and shared libraries, so I most probably did something stupid. I checked the Setup file in the PIL build and it seems to point to the correct directories for the jpeg library. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks Tom

Images and database

I am using a mysql database. Actually the sql queries with zsql are by far the easiest part in learning Zope :-) Anyway, I have the following problem. Some of the data also need to be associated with pictures. E.g. for countries, there are flags. Where should one at best store the flags? I thought it could be better to store them within Zope, so that they files can be used easily outside the database as well. In the site root I created a folder images, and as id I used the short tag of the country (e.g. ITA for Italy), which can be found in the field cou_tag. The method looks like this: <tr><th>Country-ID</th><th>Tag</th><th>Country</th><th><a href="listbycontinent">Continent</th><th> ></tr> <dtml-in countries> <tr><td><dtml-var cou_id></td><td><dtml-var cou_tag></td><td><dtml-var cou_name></td><td><dtml-var con_name></td><td><img src="&dtml-portal_url;/images/<dtml-var cou_tag>" ALT="<dtml-var cou_name>" align="absmiddle"></td></tr> </dtml-in> </table> It is probably rude, but I am a newbie :-). And it works, basically, but it is awfully slow, because for each entry it searches the images folder for a file. Is there a way to make this more elegant, and faster? Transparent Folders curse strikes again: A play in two acts

Hi, I've just been bitten with a Transparent Folder bug for the fourth time. A Folder containting a Transparent Folder becomes itself transparent, with the result that my whole ZODB is now a mess of acquired objects that pretty much prevent anything from working right. In the past the only way I found to clear the problem was to delete the Transparent Folders, export everything, reimport and recreate the TFs. But if it's just going to happen again, what's the point? Last time it happened I posted a message about it, which resulted in absolutely nothing happening. I don't get it... I'm sure I'm not the only one using Transparent Folders (or am I?)... how come nobody else suffers from this? And it's not like I'm doing anything really unusual... I just create a few TFs, throw in some methods and keep working happily, and at some point everything becomes transparent. Please someone tell me you know something about this, so I don't have to give up on TFs and rebuild my entire ZODB... Update: I just installed TF 0.3.2, just to be safe. Then I wrote a method that traversed the whole object tree and checked all Folders for a _is_transparent property. Didn't find any. So far so good. Then I changed it to print _transparent_object_ids for all objects that got that property. Sure enough, Folders which contain TFs appear in the list of their parent Folders. Well, at least it's not an obscure, Itai-is-just-making-it-up kind of problem. I got proof! Ok, I added a line to set _transparent_object_ids to () unless a Folder really contains TFs. Problem gone. But do I believe it won't come back? Not for a minute. So, the question now, for anyone who understands the TF patch code, is: how do these (very non-transparent) Folders get into the list, and how do I ensure they don't get back on the list any time they feel like it, without having to run this test method every day? Zope and Oracle

Hey all, Has anyone ever connected to Oracle from Zope? How about connecting to another machine that runs Oracle (machine A runs Zope; machine B runs Oracle)? If so, how ... or a friendly pointer in the right direction would be appreciated. ;-> I'm just wondering, because I feel that I would rather pull some information (already in Oracle), rather than setting up 130+ objects in Zope. What I have is an email listing, that holds first name, last name, email, and some other info. I see that I, if in Zope, would make a separate object to hold this info for each separate listing. Now, if there were only 10 listings, I'd be fine with it. However, from last count, it was over 130, and still growing. I really don't want to manage all those objects, much less create all of them! And since it already exists in Oracle .... well, you get the picture. Besides, I may want to have a Zope/Oracle combo in the future, so it may help to iron this stuff out now.
