Hello, Is there a method with which one can log say every 15 min the size of the database. I would like to do this so as to start doing some capacity planning exercises. Or is there a better method, to do this. Thanks Norman

Hellow pionniers !!!

Hellow everyone, I'am new in the arena and hope to become a Zope Master by the next months. But for the moment I am fighting with my Linux Box !!! (I'am young to this aswell !!). I've decided to eliminate W*!§ù%$£? from my machine, but that's not always so easy. And we get to my first question!!!! I've tried to make a simple install of Zope 2.3.3 in my /opt dir (wich is a separate partition too). So I uncompressed the tarball, cd to the dir newly created, and run the install script. I've tried this sequence many times, logged under both my user account and root, I've in both cases full rights on my Zope dir. But the script never ends to answer " not enough params".I've read the script help about the different options & syntaxes, but I think I've to recognize that don't really understand it. May I be helped ???? Tarax Fight against Bill & Friends ------------------------------------------------------------ NetCourrier, votre bureau virtuel sur Internet : Mail, Agenda, Clubs, Toolbar... Finding the object there are being "worked on"
by Gitte Wange 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hello I was wondering if I could find out what object (just it's id) there are in the namespace ??? Not very good explanation :-) Here's my problem: I have some objects of one type that I want to "convert" to another type (create a new object of another type). Now I have managed just well to create the objects - now I just want to update their properties. The object I am trying to update has a method called SetMasterFile. Now whenever I try to call it I get this error: NameError: SetMasterFile Now I'm suspecting that it is because the method is called from the object I am converting from .. if you know what I mean. So is there some way I can check what object is calling the method ?? Golives Webdav and ZClasses
by Sven Hohage 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hello, working with Golive's Webdavsupport is a nice feature but does anyone know a workaround with unknown objects like ZClasses. If you try to download them, you get an empty folder. Does anyone know a helpfile Golive-Zope!? Thanks.

ZClass index_html question
by Maarten Slaets 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hi, I'm having a problem using a ZClass as a default view of a folder: When I add a ZClass instance to '/folderX', give it an id of 'index_html', and browse to '/folderX', I get an empty response. when I browse to '/folderX/index_html' I still get this error. when I browse to '/folderX/index_html/index_html' I get the correct page. The Zclass has ZObject as base class, and an index_html method I added. Is there a way to make a browse request to '/folderX' execute the index_html method of the index_html ZClqss in that folder? PS: this is the actual response I get from zope (and also lists the zope config I'm using): HTTP/1.0 200 OK Server: Zope/Zope 2.3.2 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) ZServer/1.1b1 Date: Thu, 19 Jul 2001 14:55:27 GMT Content-Type: text/x-unknown-content-type Content-Length: 0 -- Maarten Slaets Contact: http://zope.neolabs.be/home/maarten/maarten.vcf

LoginManager + Zope 2.4.0b2?
by Jan-Frode Myklebust 20 Jul '01

Just a quick question. Is the latest (0-8-8b1) LoginManager supposed to work with Zope 2.4.0beta2? It fails for me, and I'm getting this traceback: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 552, in import_product product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/Products/LoginManager/__init__.py", line 1, in ? import LoginManager, LoginMethods, UserSources File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/Products/LoginManager/LoginManager.py", line 8, in ? from Products.ZPatterns.Specialists import Specialist File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/Products/ZPatterns/__init__.py", line 1, in ? import Rack, Specialists, Customizers, AttributeProviders, SheetProviders File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/Products/ZPatterns/Rack.py", line 1, in ? from DataManagers import DataManager File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/Products/ZPatterns/DataManagers.py", line 6, in ? from AttributeProviders import AttributeProvider File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/Products/ZPatterns/AttributeProviders.py", line 7, in ? from Expressions import * File "/space/Zope/Zope-2.4.x/lib/python/Products/ZPatterns/Expressions.py", line 38, in ? from DocumentTemplate.DT_Util import Eval, expr_globals, TemplateDict, \ ImportError: cannot import name expr_globals -jf

MS Access interfacing (followup)
by Bruce 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Further browsing and searching led me here: http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/ZClientMethod (thanks Loren!) That clears a fair bit of stuff up...either I call a prewritten query residing on the NT server, or install Zope on the NT server (not as bad an option as first thought, btw, as it's already running MS Internet Server, though just ftp services for now). But the option I really want, is being able to read the database directly. Now, since I don't need r/w access, just dumping data as html, at this point I have to wonder if exporting the database to something Linux Zope-readable might not be a better option. Suggestions? Criticisms? Recommendations? Bruce

Re: [Zope] python
by Danni Efraim 20 Jul '01

> Any one running Zope with python 2 ? Any problem o report ? I downloaded the source (ie without bundled Python 1.5.2) and compiled it, and it's worked with my Python 2.0 without any problems since. I think this would be the easiest way to get Zope to work with Python 2 (at least I had troubles trying this with binary distributions). Just download the source tarball, unpack it, and (very important, though so many just ignore it) read doc/INSTALL.txt /Danni

Problems using old ZODB ...
by Darran Edmundson 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hi Zopistas, I have two old Data.fs files, circa November 1999 and April 2000. Perhaps not surprisingly, I can't seem to use them with Zope 2.1+. ZServer fires up but both the site and the ZMI of the site give the following traceback: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. AttributeError Traceback (innermost last): File C:\ZOPE\OSCWEB\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File C:\ZOPE\OSCWEB\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File C:\ZOPE\OSCWEB\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: ApplicationDefaultPermissions) File C:\ZOPE\OSCWEB\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 162, in publish File C:\ZOPE\OSCWEB\lib\python\ZPublisher\BaseRequest.py, line 444, in traverse File C:\ZOPE\OSCWEB\lib\python\ZPublisher\BaseRequest.py, line 520, in old_validation (Object: broken) AttributeError: __getitem__ I can imagine that some external products might be missing, but I wouldn't think this would stop the ZMI from displaying properly? The first four bytes of the file are FS21 - this wouldn't be a magic number by chance? Any advice on how to get this data into a modern ZODB? Cheers, Darran.

by Chris Bruce 20 Jul '01

I noticed some calls to &dtml-xxxx. I haven't really seen it before and still learning zope. Can anyone answer the following: What is the "&dtml-" syntax? What is it used for? Is there any reference to it? Thanks alot. Chris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Mail http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/
