Hi, I want to make a tree of my Folder but I want to hide some of them. In fact I just want to see them wich have a property called "titremenu". I've tryed : <dtml-tree branches_expr="objectValues(['Folder']) and hasProperty('titremenu')"> <dtml-var id> </dtml-tree> But it doesn't work. Any idea ? Passing parameters :python script to Zsql method
by facelle＠libero.it 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hi everybody, I know this is a ricurrent newbie problem, and I have been searching the ML archives, but yet I could not solve it. How can I pass a parameter from a python script to a Zsql method ? I want to perform a very basic multiple value query on a database through the sql "selectwherein" command. I would split the REQUEST into a list, and then pass it to a Zsql method. I have the following Dtml document (named "form_itemSearch") : <form action="search" method="get"> <p>Please enter the following information:</p> Code : <input name="code:string"><br> <input type="submit" value=" Search "><br> </form> Then I have the following "search" dtml document : <dtml-call "process_input (code)"> <dtml-call "search_Item (code2=code1)"> And this is my "process_input" Python script (parameter :code) : import string code1 = string.split(code) return code1 And my "search_Item" zsql method (argument: code2 )is : select * from items where code_item in (<dtml-sqlvar code2 type=string>) If I call the first "form_itemSearch" from the web, I get the following error : Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NameError Error Value: code1 Troubleshooting Suggestions * This resource may be trying to reference a nonexistent object or variable code1. * The URL may be incorrect. * The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. * A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. Product development
by Stefan Heimann 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hi! I have some problems creating my first product. I've read the Developers Guide and the boring product, but I could not solve 2 problems: 1.) I can select my product from the add list, but whenever I try to add it to the folder (after submitting the add form) I get an error message: KeyError: manage_page_header When I access manage_main via the 'edit' tab of an already created product, this error does not appear. 2.) I want to add some properties to my product. So I defined the _properties variable, but my property 'color' does not appear on the property manage interface. Here is my source code: from Acquisition import Implicit from Globals import Persistent from AccessControl.Role import RoleManager from OFS.SimpleItem import Item from Globals import DTMLFile from OFS import PropertyManager from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo from Globals import MessageDialog def addMethod(self, id, REQUEST=None): """ Create a new article """ a = Article(id) self._setObject(id, a) if REQUEST is not None: return a.edit(REQUEST) addForm = DTMLFile('dtml/addForm', globals()) class Article(Implicit, Persistent, RoleManager, PropertyManager, Item): """ Article product class """ meta_type = 'article' title = 'Sample article' security=ClassSecurityInfo() manage_options=( {'label' : 'Edit', 'action' : 'manage_main'}, {'label':'Properties', 'action':'manage_propertiesForm',} ) + RoleManager.manage_options + Item.manage_options _properties=({'id':'color', 'type': 'selection', 'mode': 'w', 'select_variable': 'getColors'}, ) manage_main=DTMLFile('dtml/edit', globals()) def __init__(self,id): self.id = id self.color = 'green' security.declareProtected('Edit article', 'edit') def edit(self, REQUEST=None): """ Updates the content of an article. """ if REQUEST is not None: return manage_main(REQUEST, manage_tabs_message='Saved.') def getColors(self): return ['blue','green','red'] from Globals import InitializeClass InitializeClass(Article) Sorry for posting so much code, but I think it's better than forgeting something important. Tutorial resolution
by Seamus M. O'Keefe 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Just began the ZOPE tutorial and all is well, however it doesn't seem as if the python print statements within the tutorial are resolving correctly. They are simply printing as "t" or ">", not the referenced function or element names. As this negates any value the tutorial has, can anyone offer suggestions as to what the trouble may be? ------------------------------------------ Seamus M. Macromedia SiteSpring
by Mario Valente 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hi: Just a quick heads up so that you all are aware of a possible Zope competitor or, if you take a opposing view, to be aware of someone blatantly copying Zope ;-) Macromedia has launched its SiteSpring product which allows you to collaborate, manage and communicate when doing web projects. The site is at http://www.macromedia.com/software/sitespring/ and, if you watch the Quicktime movie or install the demo, even the goddam menus are Zope-alike. Emulation aside, it does raise some issues, namely on the workflow/communicate functionalities. How is Zope going to cope ? Do we have products available that bring Zope up to the same level ? MS Access interfacing
by Bruce 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

I'm managing a site with lots of different info. It's Linux+Apache, with a brand spankin' new Zope install. I'd like to add more info and features to the site, most of it dynamic, and just about all of it somebody else's responsibility to maintain. My best success so far has been with Excel spreadsheets. In this case, the page maintainer stores it on an NT server, and I run a cgi script that ftp's a copy over, and then it gets displayed via xl2html. This has the advantage of making a local copy for a backup, in case something untoward should happen, and the it's completely transparent to the person responsible for maintaining the page. As far as he's concerned, it just magically gets updated on the website. This works, primarily because the spreadsheets are pretty much under 50kb. Now I'm faced with searching a 20Mb Access database and displaying selected records from it. Downloading a new copy with every access at 20Mb is prohibitive, and it's not updated so often as to be important. I can manually stash it wherever necessary as needed. The first question is where to stash it. I want to avoid installing new software or services on the various machines, though I certainly could, within reason and limitiation. Ideally, I want to just stash it on the Linux server, and have Zope take care of the interface and display. But looking at the Jet ODBC connectors, it appears that they really want to live in Windows. Which is all well and good. The database maintainer is using a Windows machine, and I have our local NT server, either will do, but I'd rather not install Python on either of them if I didn't have to, though I can if needs must. Which also brings me the question, how does my Linux Zope installation talk to the Windows server hosting the database? By way of the connector? I hope this all isn't too basic... Thanks Bruce

safe strings in calling SQL
by reinoud＠xs4all.nl 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hi, I am implementing a search form where some strings will be used in SQL methods. I does not seem to be very safe to use a construct like select record from table where field like "%<dtml-var string_from_form>" because of the obvious hack where somebody fills in a string like: bla"; drop table important_table; Zope does contain some features where I can limit the imput to fields in forms, but the users really want to search for a string value. Is there any product for this?
