RE: [Zope] ZClass Slection Property Question

I am not the most experienced person at this so perhaps someone else will offer better advice. As far as I know you need to ensure two things. 1) that the property form can actually find the dtml list. i.e. the right path/namespace 2) that the list is actually a list, by this I mean a python list of the form ['item','item2'] I must say I have had trouble in the past getting dtml documents to return true lists. Unless you really need to use a dtml document/method, it may be easier to use a 'lines' property in the same property sheet or the property sheet of and object in its parent path. Then create a 'select' property and set it's value to the name of the 'lines' property. I hope this makes sense. I have also found it easier to return a list from a python script. A python script containing: return ['item','anotheritem'] usually works too. ZClass Slection Property Question
by Chris Bruce 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

I have added a Selection property to a ZClass. But I can't figure out how to get the values to display. I inserted "encoding" as the value and added a DTML Method called "encoding". Inside the dtml method, I have: HTML Plain Text But when I view the propertysheet, it says: No value for encoding. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Additionally, is there a way to populate a drop down box with a list of strings in a dtml method? Thanks, Chris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? works in method but not document?
by Dan Jacobs 20 Jul '01

Hi All, Here's the problem... We have a sidebar component called "submenu" that calls objectIds() to get the list of object ids in the containing folder. It's included in content pages. If submenu is called on its own, objectIds works fine. If it's called from within a DTML Method, objectIds works fine. If it's called from within a DTML Document, objectIds returns None. Any ideas? Cheers, Dan

VHM not recognizing UserDB query strings... (PATH_INFO)
by Tony McDonald 20 Jul '01

20 Jul '01

Hi all, I've almost got my authentication scheme working. Almost. I use UserDB and in the docLogin part of that product (ie the thing that gives you a nice form in the middle of the browser is this) <FORM ACTION="?" I'm using VHM and it's been really handy and really easy to set up, but now when I look at the source of the form I see <FORM ACTION="/VirtualHostBase/http/dummy27.ncl.ac.uk:80/VirtualHostRoot/medfac/te st_get_topics2" METHOD="POST"> Whereas I should get <FORM ACTION="/medfac/test_get_topics2" METHOD="POST"> Can someone point out what is going wrong. I guess it's SCRIPT_NAME or PATH_INFO, but there's no mention of them in VirtualHostMonster.py in SiteAccess. After using REQUEST, it appears to be PATH_INFO. The Apache directives I'm using are <VirtualHost 192.168.1.27:80> ServerAdmin tony.mcdonald(a)ncl.ac.uk ServerName dummy27.ncl.ac.uk DocumentRoot "/home/zope/Zope-2.3.3-src/static_content" ErrorLog "/home/zope/Zope-2.3.3-src/var/error_log" TransferLog "/home/zope/Zope-2.3.3-src/var/access_log" CustomLog "/home/zope/Zope-2.3.3-src/var/referer_log" referer CustomLog "/home/zope/Zope-2.3.3-src/var/agent_log" agent RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/static_content - [L] RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://bogus.ncl.ac.uk:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/dummy27.ncl.ac.uk:80/Virtua lHostRoot/$1 [P,L] </VirtualHost> Should I just edit out the PATH_INFO stuff in the form? From ColdFusion to Zope: help with <dtml-if>?
by Bob Campbell 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

Hi, One of our business line developers is used to working with ColdFusion and is struggling, as we all are-:), with Zope. We are literally surrounded with piles of documents, e-books, and e-mail messages "explaining" the different aspects of Zope. We are slowly "getting it" and liking it... However... The developer (and myself) have been trying to figure this out for two days and push is now coming to shove and I'm hoping the list can help. I asked her write down in plain English what she is trying to accomplish and I would post it and see if anyone has a solution or solid direction to pursue. The system she developed publishes hundreds of multipage reports using MS Access and Acrobat (pdf). Access holds the links to every report, they are dated and published throughout a two week cycle. The reports themselves reside on numbered folders on a local drive (e:) In ColdFusion she would do something like, IF Fileexists (001delingprt) then .....and so on through the reports... Here is what she wrote ___________________________________________________________________________ Ok, here it is in plain English... I need to determine if a certain file exists. The filename is located in a certain variable. If it does exist do something, else do something else. For example: Say the file is called e:\test.pdf. This path exists in a variable called vartest If vartest exists then show the current month's file else show last month's file. Hope there's an answer. Generating Adobe FDF files from Zope / Python
by Eric Walstad 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

Hello, I need to generate FDF files from form data submitted to my Zope server (running on RH6.2). I know there is an SDK from Adobe that will let me do this in C, but I've very little C experience and I've never written a Python extension to a C library. Has anyone already done this in Python? Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks. Eric.
