portability of Zope applications
by A. Giacomelli 16 Jul '01

16 Jul '01

Hi, I am new to Zope. I started evaluating it a bit to understand its use in our environment. 2 questions concerning the 'portability' of Zope applications: 1- assuming I have 2 Zope servers, one for development and one for deployment: is it possible to port all stuff made in one folder with installation 1 in installation 2 ? ...I would imagine a utility to 'pack' all objects and unpack them in another installation. 2- as to database connectivity (I am used to PHP, where with PHPlib I can write PHP which is portable to setups using different servers). Does the same apply to Zope ? I.e. if I am using ODBC/Access in my 'prototype', and Oracle in my full-blown application, is it sufficient to have a connection ID with the same name to insure portability ? TIA for any feedback. -- ========================================= Andrea Giacomelli Centre for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia Environment Group http://www.crs4.it/~andreag =========================================

Hello, I'm looking for the document i saw some months ago about xtrem programing and ZClass (may be about ZDP but not sure). I can't find any reference on zope.org, list archive or zdp. Any pointer to the author or document ? Thanks. ********** ATTENTION ********** *** nouvelle adresse cité administrative *** *********************************************** -- Didier Georgieff Chef de projet technique SIT du Bas-Rhin tél : 03.88.76.78.35 - fax : 03.88.76.78.34 email : didier.georgieff(a)agriculture.gouv.fr SIT du Bas-Rhin : http://www.bas-rhin.sit.gouv.fr

mapping permissions in ZClass
by Didier Georgieff 16 Jul '01

16 Jul '01

Hello, I have 2 ZClass folderish products who works well. I have some permissions to setup and made a role for each product. The problem is that each product have some identical permissions (acces content information, delete object, manage properties, ...) and this cause some side effects on each othe product whare one role is allowed to "do things" on the other role's object because he has the same permission. I already solved some points by mapping permissions for property sheets, but still have problem on other ones like "delete objects" where i can't supress the "delete object" permission in the role even if i have mapped this "delete object" with my main "use this Zclass" permission. I guess i'm close but i'm still puzzled. I just can't find a place or document where ZClass mapping, define prperties and properties are clearly explained. Any idea ? ********** ATTENTION ********** *** nouvelle adresse cité administrative *** *********************************************** -- Didier Georgieff Chef de projet technique SIT du Bas-Rhin tél : 03.88.76.78.35 - fax : 03.88.76.78.34 email : didier.georgieff(a)agriculture.gouv.fr SIT du Bas-Rhin : http://www.bas-rhin.sit.gouv.fr

Z Sql method newbie question
by Fabrizio 16 Jul '01

16 Jul '01

Hallo, Newbie. Zope 2.3.3 on Win98. Interbase 6.0 through gvibDA. I have a database table with three fields : id, name, surname. I want to create a simple Z Sql method that adds a new record to the table and automatically assigns an increased id value to the new record . I tried something like : insert into table(name, surname) values ( max (id) + 1, <dtml-sqlvar name type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar surname type="string"> ) (Method arguments are : name, surname). But It does not work as I expect. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Fabrizio C.

by Gitte Wange 16 Jul '01

Hello, I have tried to install the RSS Channels product found at: http://www.zope.org/Members/TheJester/ChannelTag I seems very useful. (I want to add Slashdot news to my portal *S*S*S*) Well .. there's only one problem. The product won't go into Zope :-( I have untared the tarball into the Products directory. When I try to restart Zope it tells me that I need a xmlsax module. Hmm .. where do I find this module ? I have tried a search on the zope.org site but found nothing. Anyone else using this product ? Regards, Gitte Wange

Mozilla and Tabs in Textareas
by Christian Zagrodnick 16 Jul '01

16 Jul '01

Hi there Some guy screamed for entering tabs in mozilla's textareas. Here is a patch for the 0.9.2 version and my favorite .mozconfig. I found no way to change the keybindings via config file but as the code looks to me this is not possible anyway. Build mozilla with `gmake -f client.mk build' To get even more of NS4 behaviour put this into your user.js (found somewhere on mozilla.org) -----cut------- // Key modifier stuff: see bug 22515 // Motif-style access keys: user_pref("ui.key.accelKey", 18); user_pref("ui.key.menuAccessKey", 0); user_pref("ui.key.menuAccessKeyFocuses", false); user_pref("imageblocker.enable", true); user_pref("javascript.options.strict", true); user_pref("browser.view_source.syntax_highlight", true); user_pref("browser.target_new_blocked", true); ------cut------- Hope this helps... I'm sure this is obvious, but I'm not finding it... in dtml I can get the ID of the current page as a string by doing <dtml-var id> How do I get the same thing in ZPT? I've tried the following: None of those exist... What am I overlooking? -- ................... paul winkler .................... custom calendars & printing: http://www.calendargalaxy.com A member of ARMS: http://www.reacharms.com home page: http://www.slinkp.com
