cut / change letters in a string in python
by Marcus Schopen 14 Jul '01

14 Jul '01

Hi, how do I cut all letters in a string? The string is "6.0b". Before using float ("6.0b") I'd like to change "b" to "02" or just cut all letters. Thanks and good night Marcus -- _____________________________________ (0> Marcus Schopen //\ P.O. Netscape renders different than IE
by rlanham＠speakeasy.net 14 Jul '01

Below is a snip of the dtml I use in the leftnav of a wiki-like site I made. It is not pretty, pieced together from snips from this list, but it was working just fine until I moved the site from Zope running on WinMe to RedHat7.1. (To accomplish this move, once I got linux installed, I mounted the windows partition and copie Data.fs to the new Zope folder in linux. I really didn't expect it to work, but it did. However...) This snip is supposed to display a checkbox next to items that the authenticated user owns. Also it hides files that have hide in the name from non-owners. (This part handles docs and images. I have another section (nearly identical) to handle folders.) This works fine in Netscape, but no longer works in IE (ver 5.0 on win2k server). And as this is all server side, I cannot understand how this could be. Why would zope process this differenly based on client? Also, per a thread I noticed awhile ago, I can no longer manage the site remotely with IE, the manage frame renders index_html instead. Thanks for any help or insight into this strangeness in advance, best, Richard <snip> <dtml-in expr="objectValues(['DTML Document','Image','File'])" sort=title> <dtml-let sName=title_or_id> <dtml-let sItem=sequence-item> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('deleteon','yes')"> <INPUT TYPE="CHECKBOX" NAME="delItems:list" VALUE="<dtml-var id>"> <dtml-if expr="_.string.find(_.str(sName), 'hide')>-1"> <a target="main" href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> <dtml-if "meta_type=='Image'"> size:<dtml-var "_['get_size']/1000">k </dtml-if> </dtml-if> <dtml-if expr="_.string.find(_.str(sName), 'hide')==-1"> <a target="main" href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-if> <dtml-if "meta_type=='DTML Document'"> <a target=main href="make_Frame?docid=<dtml-var id url_quote_plus>"><img border=0 src="<dtml-var icon>"></a> </dtml-if> <dtml-if "meta_type=='Image'"> <dtml-if expr="_.string.find(_.str(sName), 'hide')==-1"> size:<dtml-var "_['get_size']/1000">k </dtml-if> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> <dtml-if expr="_.string.find(_.str(sName), 'hide')==-1"> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </snip>

'Owner' not being set.
by Dave Smithson 14 Jul '01

14 Jul '01

Dear All, I'm an information designer, and have been working with our programmer on a project. The url is: http://d029.ml.uwcm.ac.uk:8080/imi_test zClasses and forms have been set up to allow contributors to upload information regarding books, journals, etc, which belong to them. This information should then appear in the relevant area. To upload their information, users navigate to their folders, eg. http://d029.ml.uwcm.ac.uk:8080/imi_test/browse_by_contributor/example/book or http://d029.ml.uwcm.ac.uk:8080/imi_test/browse_by_contributor/example2/book and upload their material using the 'Add book' link/form. (username/password for 'example' is example/example, and username/password for 'example2' is example2/example2. Problem in short: information regarding a book which is uploaded into "example's" book section is also appearing in "example2's" book section. The resulting 'book' object is being added to the correct folder, and the zCatalog seems to be picking up the right metadata - except for the 'owner'. (See screengrabs at http://d029.ml.uwcm.ac.uk:8080/imi_test/screengrab) We don't think the 'owner' is getting set using the following code *, which is from the zc_book_add (zc_book constructor): * <html> <head><title>Add zc_book</title></head> <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" link="#000099" vlink="#555555"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Owner',AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName())"> <dtml-with "zc_book.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('prop',propertysheets.get('book_properties'))"> <dtml-call "prop.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call reindex_object> </dtml-with> <dtml-if DestinationURL> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(DestinationURL+'/manage_workspace')"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(URL2+'/manage_workspace')"> </dtml-if> </body></html> Roles: 'example' has a local manager role set in the base 'example' folder. 'example2' also has a local manager role in the 'example2' folder. Both of these have been added into an acl_users folder in the root of the site. Am suitably stumped, and would be very grateful for any pointers. tia, Dave. David Smithson Information Designer Media Resources Centre University of Wales College of Medicine Cardiff UK

manage_changeProperties

WHY doc.manage_changeProperties(listProperty=1) works but doc.manage_changeProperties({'listProperty':1}) doesn't ? I was using Zope 2.4 B1 on win32: import sys sys.path.insert(0,'zope') sys.path.insert(0,'zope/lib/python') import ZServer import Zope from AccessControl.SecurityManagement import newSecurityManager app = Zope.app() uf=app.acl_users user = uf.getUser('root').__of__(uf) newSecurityManager(None, user) doc=app['doc'] doc.manage_changeProperties({'listProperty':1}) I can not use manage_changeProperties(propertyname=val) because I got the property name from another variable, I intend to use manage_changeProperty({var:val}) for the actual call. Hi Chris, I am not sure what influence this has, but from a reply I had http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-June/093893.html it was suggested that you should chenge the PYTHONNAME to something else as in http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-June/093893.html Hope this is of help Norman -----Original Message----- From: zodb-dev-admin(a)zope.org [mailto:zodb-dev-admin@zope.org]On Behalf Of Chris Withers Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2001 10:59 AM To: zodb-dev(a)zope.org Subject: [ZODB-Dev] PYTHONHOME Hi, What influence does the PYTHONHOME environment variable have over python and a ZEO StorageServer? Starting a new database with MySQL
by liz 14 Jul '01

Greetings, I'm trying to start a new database with Zope's MySQL but I'm having trouble with the Database Connection String. The suggestions that have been given to me haven't worked, and I've been unable to locate documentation that answers this question. What should I put in there? Yes !!! That's it ! But know, how can I include reverse ;-) ? I've tryed : <a href="<dtml-var URL1>?skey=titre&rev=">Title</a> <a href="<dtml-var URL1>?skey=author&rev=">Author</a> <a href="<dtml-var URL1>?skey=bobobase_modification_time&rev= reverse">Last modification</a> <dtml-if "REQUEST.has_key('skey')"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('skey', 'bobobase_modification_time')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('rev', ' reverse')"> </dtml-if> <dtml-in "objectValues(['article'])" size=3 sort_expr="skey+rev" start=query_start> But it just work with title and author (rev=none) but not with modif_time (rev=' reverse'). Nevermind....Widening ODBC Test Window
by Schmidt, Allen J. 13 Jul '01

Sorry for the noise... As is so easy to do in our modern world...ask first, then investigate. /ZopeHome/lib/Python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/dtml/connectionTestForm.dtml Removed the Style which wants to set the width but does not. Set Rows to 15 and Cols to 80. Worked great. Here I've been complaining all this time and I had the solution in the palm of my hand...Open Source is cool... Great Weekend to all! Allen
