Export to Excel format??

Hi, I have a need to have data returned from a query to be displayed in either html, ascii, or MS-Excel formats. Before submitting a query, the user chooses if they want the result returned as a rendered html page to view, an ASCII file to download and import into something else, or as an Excel spreadsheet to download. (From the customers request. They haven't defined what "ascii' means yet - fixed length or csv). Any ideas on how to do this (export to Excel)? I don't think I'll need anything fancy, such as formulas, cell formatting, etc. Probably just a conversion of the html table into something that will be recognized and loaded by Excel. (Would a csv file named "something.xls" or even "something.csv" work??) I've searched the mailing list, but only found discussions on importing from Excel to Zope. I need to go the other way. IIRC they use <dtml-in "objectValues(['article'])" size=3 sort_expr="skey" start=query_start> i.e. sort_expr instead of sort. Unfortunately I can't find any documentation besides the src of DT_in.py about it's functionality. cheers, oliver

Been to the archives several times and have run across this, too. But, if there are 20 records and I say size=4, I don't get just 4. If I know there are 8 records and I say size=2 I get all 8. Number of bytes... If there is only a small line returned for each of 20 rows...this will be less than the 1400 (should be much less...) Could if have anything to do with the number of rows ZSQL 'grabs' for the query? I'm referring to the Advanced tab now. Anything to do with this there? The size of the page should be determined by the number characters I present to the 'browser' right? If I have just two words for each line times, say, 20 lines, that should not overload it. Aside from this small thing, Zope makes it so nice to write pages for the phone. Several major things are planned and the list keeps growing as we discover new things we can do. The size attribute of the dtml-in tag doesn't ensure you a target page size, which depends on the number of all the characters within the page, including WML/HDML tags. Thanks for the speedy patch. That solved most of the ftp download problem. To improve, there are still something we can do: 1. When running Zserver in debug mode, some ftp transfer will give out: PROBLEM(100) ZServer unhandled connect event message. 2. When run in ftp-passive mode, some large files(above 350KB) still cannot be retrieved, but no problem in non-passive mode. I'm not sure if this is due to Zserver or my linux network configuration. 3. Some objects cannot be downloaded, like "acl_users", but retrieving them will cause the batch process to stop. Of course this is related to the ftp client in use. Maybe we can give a default download action for un-downloadable objects, like just creating a zero-length file? Virtual Host Monster but wrong Root Folder returned by PARENTS[-1]

Hello, i am using zope 2.4.0b2, having a virtual hosting monster in my root folder. in my root folder i have a folder called "host.com" (and i want to add otherfolders for all other domains). i'm using a rewrite rule in apache which says : RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://my.host.com:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.host.com:80/host.com/Virtu… [P] Ok, everything is fine so far. i then have created a small dtml method in the folder host.com, which i call "RootNavigation" as it should present a small navigation bar, listing all folders in the root dir (which I think should be "/hosts.com"). RootNavigation : ---------- <dtml-with expr="PARENTS[-1]"> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;" class="prim"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> ---------- Unfortunately, when i point my browser to http://www.host.com i don't get a list, of the folders residing in /hosts.com, but a list of the domains (including host.com) which i have created as folders in the Zope Root Dir. So it seems that PARENTS[-1] is not pointing to the /host.com folder. Any ideas how to change that ? Best Regards, Justin Heesemann
