compiling Python modules for Zope

Hello: I'm trying to get LoginManager to work, which means building DynPersist in ZPatterns. I followed the instructions of copying Makefile.pre.in into the ZPatters folder and running "make -f Makefile.pre.in boot". The main error I seem to be getting is: ../../ZODB/cPersistence.h:89: header file 'ExtensionClass.h' not found ExtensionClass.h is located in my Zope directory in lib/Components/ExtensionClass/src/ExtensionClass.h. How do I tell make where to find this file and any other headers it needs in order to build Python modules for Zope. Sorry, I don't know too much about make or compiling modules. Automatically add/remove file extensions via FTP or WebDAV?

Having Zope IDs with dots in them is a bit of thorny question. On the one hand, for downloading and uploading files through FTP or WebDAV and for working with external tools, it may be useful for files to have an extension. On the other hand, dots in IDs can be awkward for Zope. Also it can be advantageous to be able to have 'typeless' URLs, allowing you to change the type of object fulfilling a given role while keeping the same ID. So how about an option whereby objects have an appropriate file extension appended automatically when presented through Zope's FTP or WebDAV servers, and conversely have the extension stripped off when uploaded into Zope? Topic Security in DocumentLibrary

Hi Zopers I am working on a M$ Office Client for DocumentLibrary project. It seems to be no topics security buit in! ( I mean restrict access to some topics based on user role) If I try to restrict access to a topic ( disable 'access conetent information' on the security tab of the topic) then the user is banned fron the system totally ( system ties to access the restricted topic and fails, It comes back with auth. prompt. As the user do not have access to that topic system returns with noaccess error screen) Is there a way to restrict acces to some topics in DocumentLibrary? python scripts, exceptions, and allowing import

I searched the archives and I think exception info isn't something you can get from python scripts (i.e. sys.exc_info()) Is that still the case? I tried to allow sys to be imported, as in: http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/2001-February/009531.html but it keeps failing (Unauthorized: exc_info) Is there another way to get generic exception info now? 2.4.x, or 2.3.x ? how about the dtml variables like error_type? all I'm trying to do is call: container.mailhost.simple_send(), and get the exception info when it fails. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? ZMySQLDA Product broken

GletscherHi all, I have read a few messages concerning this topic, but still I am confused and cannot make the Product ZMySQL DA run. I work on a Win-2000 machine with MySQL 3.23 and Zope 2.33, Python 1.52. I get this Import Traceback err message: Traceback (innermost last): File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\OFS\Application.py", line 528, in import_products product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\__init__.py", line 91, in ? import DA File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\DA.py", line 91, in ? from db import DB File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\db.py", line 89, in ? import _mysql ImportError: No module named _mysql Searching for a solution i found that I have to install several other fixes/updates for Zope and Python (e.g. MySQLdb) but windows_installer files don't work (I cannot choose the Zope Location Path)... Does anybody have a solution? Martin
