xml-rpc authentication
by Tim Hicks 02 Jul '01

02 Jul '01

I am trying to use xml-rpc to get hold of some files uploaded to one Zope server, send them to another for some processing, and then have them returned to the first server. My difficulty is in the authentication part. I have read Amos' tutorial (http://www.zope.org/Members/Amos/XML-RPC) and understand that xmlrpclib.py in its standard form does not handle http authentication. My problem is that I'm not really that hot on python, so I don't totally understand how to implement Amos' BasicAuthTransport class. Where should I put this code? Do I need to make any more alterations (other than subclassing 'transport' as opposed to 'xmlrpclib.transport')? I had a go at getting things to work; here's what I did: 1) Made a copy of xmlrpclib.py named xmlrpclibx.py to play with 2) Pasted in Amos' BasicAuthTransport class code. 3) Changed the line in the 'Server' class so that it set 'transport' to 'BasicAuthTransport()' ... but I simply got a syntax error when I tried to 'import xmlrpclibx' in my external method. Can anyone help me out? thanks tim

users managing their own user details
by tomc＠evetcia.com 02 Jul '01

02 Jul '01

How do I allow my users to _only_ edit their own user details? I have about 20 users who will have varying degrees of access to the Zope management area. All in the one users folder. I want to encourage them to change their password regularly. But I don't want them to be able to edit other user's details or even create acl_users folders, just edit their own details. I cant seem to work out how to do this. Tom

Re: [Zope] Variable File Include
by Jason Alexander 01 Jul '01

Ah, sorry... I'm actually using zPoPy, and, yes, the userpluginposition is actually in the database. I'm doing a dtml-let beforehand, assigning the database result to the plugins var. In terms of results, it simple prints out the name of the file name, rather then including the file onto the page. -Jason ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Penny" <jpenny(a)universal-fasteners.com> To: "Jason Alexander" <jason-alexander(a)home.com> Sent: Sunday, July 01, 2001 5:51 PM Subject: Re: [Zope] Variable File Include > On Sun, Jul 01, 2001 at 05:40:23PM -0500, Jason Alexander wrote: > > Hello all, > > > > > > I'm attempting to do variable file includes, where the actual file name is > > held in a column in a database, but I am having a few issues. I have tried all combinations. newbie: problems with setting title when cloning a dtml-method
by Jan Sew 01 Jul '01

01 Jul '01

hi guys, a short python-question. i have a script quite similar to the one in the zope book. it looks like this. """ parameters: id ,document_title, REQUEST=None ----------------------------------- Copy the template to the calling folder """ # Clone the template, giving it the new ID. This will be placed # in the current context (the place the factory was called from). exhibit=context.manage_clone(container.new,id,document_title) # Change the clone's title exhibit.manage_changeProperties(document_title=document_title) # If called through the web, redirect back to the context if REQUEST is not None: try: u=context.DestinationURL() except: u=REQUEST['URL1'] REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(u+'/manage_main?update_menu=1') i use it for a mechanism to construct user-specific methods, folders and docs. "new" is a dtml-method. how can i set the duplicated method's title? it works very well if "new" is a document, then i can set the title via parameter "title". i don't know the exact command for methods, i think the problem is that a method does not have real properties? cheers, jan -- Sent through GMX FreeMail - http://www.gmx.net

Re: [Zope-CMF] Adding acquisition containers to a CMF object.

Kent Polk writes: > Dieter Maurer wrote: > > Maybe, you need to describe in more detail what you want. > > I need to provide essentially the same acquisition behavior that > one would get by providing a folder name in the URL path.... I assume, you want to add the folder after your product instance. Then, you can give your product the following method: def __bobo_traverse__(self,request,entry): inserted_folder= self.inserted_folder # insert your name entry= getattr(inserted_folder,entry) return entry This builds the same acquisition structure as would: *path-to-your-product-instance*/inserted_folder/entry However, 'PARENTS' and all URL/BASE variables would be as if the "inserted_folder" were not there. [Ann] Form Dispatcher 0.1: Manage the state of a form
by Dieter Maurer 01 Jul '01

01 Jul '01

If you have forms that you want to leave and later come back with the original values filled in, then this small product may be interesting for you. A "Form Dispatcher" is a Folder-like object that manages the current state of a form. It initializes the state when the form is entered initially, saves the state in a session object when the form is left and restores the state when the form is reentered. It was tested with Zope 2.3 and 'FSSession' session objects. More information and download URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/Dispatcher.html There is a companion 'Wizzard' product. It controls several 'Dispatcher's to implement step-by-step input over several forms for complex data entry tasks. URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/Wizzard.html Dieter
