FW: List of UK Zope sites

FYI... below is a list of UK websites using Zope. I compiled this list for the new Zope Users Group UK ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zuguk ) - if anyone knows of any I've missed, please let me know! Probably better to mail me direct, rather than cluttering up this list? When we get a website up and running, we'll be adding the list there. Cheers, Jon ---------------------------------------------------------------- Zope-related Companies http://www.nipltd.com/ www.jamkit.com www.pricom.co.uk www.zope.co.uk Charity/non-profit/government http://www.ljmc.org.uk/ http://www.newsouthgate.com/ http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/ (converting to Zope soon?) http://www.esfnews.org.uk/ (not Zope yet, but should be soon? :-) HE/FE http://www.bris.ac.uk/is http://www.medici.bris.ac.uk/ http://www.law.bris.ac.uk/ http://www.cultivate-eu.org/ http://www.ilrt.bris.ac.uk/ http://www.regard.ac.uk/regard/home/index_html? Newbie: PayPal and Zope
by Anthony Monta 17 Jun '01

17 Jun '01

Hi. I'm trying to set up a website that registers people for a conference. I'd like to restrict access to the conference registry form to people who have already paid to a PayPal account (i.e., registered). What's the most effective way to do this? The solution I've come up with so far (I'm not a programmer by profession) is to have PayPal send customers who have paid to a dtml script that sets a cookie value and then redirects the customer to a form viewable only if the cookie has the correct value. But this model is insecure because there's nothing to prevent someone who *hasn't* paid to PayPal from running the script if they know what its URL is; and if I set some security block on it in Zope, then it wouldn't run when people who *have* paid were directed there. Obviously I'm missing something or just not looking in the right place. Maybe PayPal's confirmation email could be used in some way? Any pointers/help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Anthony

The Set tag, DC?
by Peter Bengtsson 17 Jun '01

17 Jun '01

I might be out of date, but I just discovered the set tag. http://www.zope.org/Members/Ivo/SetTag I'm not going to install it (cause I'm not alone on the server and I don't want to confuse my close zope friends), but I like it a lot. Maybe I should have cross posted this message to zope-dev?? The set tag is described at: http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/992331398 by ivo. Simplest case: # old situation <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('foo', 10*2)"> # new situation <dtml-set foo="10*2"> I know little about this product, but I like it because newbies will like it. It is very intuitive and makes a lot of DTML sense. So many of the Zope newbies are developers who come from Perl or ASP or whatever, and instead of forcing all the new stuff on them, we should invite them humbly by making them feel at home. Sucking up to newbies in a nutshell :) What does DC think about this? My vote is for including it in DTML in the near future after proper QA.

Comparing returned Python Script values
by Andreas Pauley 17 Jun '01

17 Jun '01

Hi, I have two Python Scripts that returns a string when called. I need to test if the returned string values are equal. For testing purposes I have created two Python Scripts (script1 and script2), each containing only the following line of code: return 'test' The following DTML tells me that my strings are not equal: <dtml-if expr="script1 == script2"> Strings are equal <dtml-else> Strings are *not* equal </dtml-if> The following Python Code does the same: if context.script1 == context.script2: print 'Strings are equal' else: print 'Strings are *not* equal' return printed Printing context.script1 and context.script2 gives me this: <PythonScript instance at 87e6168> <PythonScript instance at 86ce928> It seems that I'm comparing the script instances instead of their returned values. How do I get to compare the returned values? Thanks a lot, Andreas.

by Tom Deprez 17 Jun '01

17 Jun '01

Can somebody help me on how I can get the filename of a FileUpload object in a python script? When using following code in a python script, context.REQUEST['accessory_image'].filename I get always the following error : Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'string' object has no attribute 'filename' It's obvious that I doing something wrong, but what? Thanks Tom.

by Tom Deprez 17 Jun '01

17 Jun '01

Hi all, I'm trying to show a html page after I performed an action all this in a python script. I'm trying to redirect a page, but unfortunately, this doesn't work. I've the following script context.sql_methods.products_delete(aID=context.REQUEST['aID']) url=context.REQUEST.URL1 raise 'Redirect', url This will give me an sql error. (but the sql_method is correct). If I remove the redirect rule, then everything works like it should exept that I get my confirmation page Is there a way to another way to a redirect? Otherwise I'm forced to go to DTML-Methods :-( Thanks in advance, Tom.

by Tom Deprez 17 Jun '01

17 Jun '01

Sorry, just after writing my q'n concerning redirect in a python script, my light went on tried it out and that worked, yes! Well, the solution is simple... (if you want to know) context.sql_methods.products_delete(aID=context.REQUEST['aID']) url=context.REQUEST.URL1 context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(url, lock=0) Regards, Tom.

How-to develop a folderish product?
by Rene Pijlman 17 Jun '01

17 Jun '01

Hello, I've just studied the "Python Product Development Tutorial" (http://www.zope.org/Members/hathawsh/PythonProductTutorial) This shows how to develop a Python-based product with a non-folderish object. I've managed to develop mij own non-folderish object this way. Now I'd like to learn how to develop a folderish object (again, Python-based). Can someone please provide some guidance? Is there a how-to/tutorial for folderish products as well? Or is it not that different? A practical question about folderish objects: Should it inherit from Folder or ObjectManager directly? Should it still inherit from OFS.SimpleItem.(Simple)Item? TIA, René Pijlman

> I mean objects that can contain other objects, like folders can. > There is at least one product that is not folderish: the poll product > created in the product development tutorial. I suspect there are more. >>Here is another really good resource. >>http://www.zope.org/Documentation/ZDG/ Hi Rene, I had the very same Problem, i.e. nice explanation for developing non-folderish python products in the docs you mentioned, but nil for folderish products. What I did was simply looking at the source from OFS/Folder.py and just use the same base classes like Folder does. That way you just don't get the functionality which is defined in folder.py, i.e. the content-view, IIRC. You also get to see what is needed for a folderish product from the zope developers point of view. I did that because I felt I had more control about what happens where, but I assume thats just paranoia on my side and one could derive from OFS.folder without problems. But looking at the source at this stage of learning gives a lot insight. cheers, oliver

I'm not sure what you mean because it seems products are folderish by there very nature. I think anything you place under the Products root has to have extra security information defined for it. >>A practical question about folderish objects: Should it inherit from >>Folder >>or ObjectManager directly?
