SiteRule
by Paul Zwarts 18 Jun '01

18 Jun '01

Greetings, 1) How can I use SiteRules to redirect a page access? Scenario /download SiteRule LocalFSObject getInfo - DMTL doc A user goes to LocalFSObject and the SiteRule will check REQUEST for something, if it is present it will allow access of LocalFSOBject otherwise send the user to getInfo.... Is this possible and is there a URL to some example code? 2) It seems to me that SiteRules are some magic outside of influencing the page that was actually called in the SiteRule's folder. For instance, text is not returned to the page (which is expected as a pre-process rule), but much to my chagrin I cannot set Session variables, which would be a totally logical place to do so. Why is this? Thanks very much, Paz

Migrate from Yihaw to CMF?
by Dunigan, Craig 18 Jun '01

18 Jun '01

When my zope site was first conceived, the guy who put it together used Yihaw. Not that I'm knocking Yihaw, but it's beginning to look like CMF might be a better choice for us. Can anyone give me a rough comparison of the two products, in terms of features and functionality, which would be better for what use, and so on? And if I do decide to switch, does anyone have any experience migrating from one to the other? Thanks. An existing domain name www.nomadics.org previously hosted elsewhere has now been routed to point at http://www.mynewsite.com/zope/nomadics I want /zope/nomadics to be the root homepage for www.nomadics.org When people point their web browsers at http://www.nomadics.org they should see continue to see http://www.nomadics.org in the zope URL The ZServer is already running nicely behind apache using ProxyPass and SiteAccess2 with Site root serving another site/domain. How to do add another domain runnng off a subfolder of the same Zope? I rememeber there was a thread about this somewhere.. thanks ./Jason

However, I can only run one residing on the desktop machine. While each will start Zope, the identity of the host system differs for the http server: desktop: <machine name>.<city>.<company site>.com with the port:8080 laptop: <machine name laptop> and the port:8080 Following the desktop string with '/manage" Zope is loaded effortlessly, on the laptop I only get a variation of messages mostly saying there is no defined DNS on the company server when I use the machine name as the hostserver. Guessing I might still need to use the city and company's site as part of the address, my results were no better. I have tried a number of variations to try and open Zope on the laptop without one success. Has anyone run into a similar situation and found a solution? If so please inform me promptly so that I can make better progress on learning how to develop using Zope. Thanks in advance!!
