Getting Images from SQL Database

Hi All, Any pointers on how I can display a jpeg image that has been stored as a image in a mssql database. I am using ZODBC as the database connector. I am trying to display the images from ZOPE. I display the pictures without trouble using VB or PHP but am completly new to Python / Zope! Regards, Neil

newbie q: error messages after install - RH rpms

Hi all, I have downloaded and installed all the files, and yes zope is running - when I tried localhost:8080/manage it did not work and so I changed it to localhost:8021/manage because that seems to be the port it is running on: python z2.py -p /var/zope/Zope.cgi -u zope -z /usr/share/zope -Z /var/run/zwatchdog.pid -w -f 8021 -m -l /var/log/zope so - after running that command I get: 220 mango FTP server (Medusa Async V1.12.4.1 [experimental]) ready. 500 'GET': command not understood. 500 'Connection:': command not understood. 500 'User-Agent:': command not understood. 500 'Pragma:': command not understood. 500 'Host:': command not understood. 500 'Accept:': command not understood. 500 'Accept-Encoding:': command not understood. 500 'Accept-Language:': command not understood. 500 'Accept-Charset:': command not understood. > at which point it just hangs. DTML<->Python confusion (RE: [Zope] How to make a script return rendered dtml)

I've spent hours, maybe days, being confused about this as well. According to the Zope API documentation and ZDP at http://zdp.zope.org/projects/zfaq/faq/DTML/959888072 http://zdp.zope.org/projects/zsnippet/snippets/DTMLTags/CallingDTMLMetho ds someDTMLMethod(_.None, _) should work. Because of the unclear/complex calling conventions and integration between DTML and Python I've had to keep some code in DTML. Other related questions are: How do you do dtml-with and dtml-let in a Python script? (I.e. put something on the namespace) How do you give positional (not keyword) arguments to a DTML method; is there any difference? When is __call__ called, when is __str__ called, and when is index_html called? Other basic functions worth knowing about for a class/object to be a good-behaving Zope object? When does RESPONSE need to be passed; it can always be gotten from the REQUEST, right? Calling a DTML method, when to use client and when to use REQUEST? Is calling with client and REQUEST the same as adding client to the namespace (REQUEST) and calling it with an client=None? Are namespace, _, REQUEST, and context just different names for the same thing? I've been dreaming about a FAQ answering all of this (and a bunch of ZClasses questions I have). Me thinks the ZDP should be integrated with Zope.org, and all Zope.org members given access to add FAQs (I am not allowed to add FAQs now). Ideally, somebody should be adding FAQs all the time, and the FAQ index should be posted regularly to zope-dev... Btw, I think http://zdp.zope.org/projects/zfaq/faq/DTML/959888072 gets the order of aMappingObject and aClient wrong in the first code line. Hello, I've just started using Zope and am having great fun setting up a new site. However, I'm having a few problems setting up user login. I need the ability to allow users to log in and log out using forms, instead of the standard Zope user folder http authentification. I'm not using any of the content management/portal products (CMF etc.) and I've had a look at most of the products in the User Management section of zope.org including LoginManager, but I can't seem to work it out. Has anyone got a simple example showing me how to add users, and a simple login and log out form for either LoginManager, CookieCrumbler or anything else? Thanks very much for any help Mike Groves

script to dynamically update fields in SELECT

Hi, I made this script because I wanted to dynamically update the contents of a SELECT field based on the choice in another SELECT. The contents are updated from a <dtml-in> call, in my case from a SQL query. It took me a while to create, and I thought that someone else could use it. Feel free to include it in a FAQ, guide, tips, etc. Comments about the script: * Create the arrays you want in Javascript to be populated by dtml-in. For some reason if I could not make it work if I used identation. keep it all on the same line. * I used a clone() function that I found in some other site to copy the wanted array in itemArray and create the SELECT object using itemArray. * This script uses DHTML show & hide functions. So I doubt it will work in older browsers (actually I don't even know if it will work on anything other than IE. But I plan to test it at least on Konqueror). dreamweaver and addresstranslation

Hi there, I try to use Dreamweaver together with WebDAV. After I changed all my dtml methods and documents to have an extension of .html I can load them into dreamweaver change them and save them back. Very nice indeed. Now my question: All my symbolic addresses like URL1 are translated to their physical address. so URL1 might become www.myserver.com:8080/directory/x This is fine and allows me to see the real thing (where as with ftp I only see the structure). However, when I send the data back, these address are not translated back to their symbolic counterpart. Is their a way to deal with that save of translating them by hand ?? thanks for your ideas Robert

I have been unable to get this method to work. I went to the Netscape page and tried their example. It didn't work with Netscape 4.75 on windows or linux (as well as IE and mozilla). Is this still a supported mimetype? Has anyone gotten this to work in or outside of zope? Hello all, I'm trying to figure out what else is needed to use dcoracle2 besides zope. I have downloaded DCO2-NT-Beta3.ZIP and installed for use on my NT based 2.3.0 zope. When I restart zope, it reported missing oracle dlls. So I copied all of my oracle client (8.0.6) dlls to a folder in my dll path. Evaluating an parameter in a custom tag

Hello all, This really is a quick question, but it does take some explaining, otherwise the full idea doesn't get across. What I'm trying to accomplish is to have a custom tag write out an HTML table with 3 columns. Also, it will fill in the columns with content, which will come from 3 separate DTML Methods. Ok, now for the meat: I have a DTML Document from which I call my custom tag. Its syntax is this: <dtml-customTag attribute1="methodA" attribute2="methodB" attribute3="methodC"> What this produces is HTML that looks similiar to this: <table> <tr> <td>Content from methodA</td> <td>Content from methodB</td> <td>Content from methodC</td> </tr> </table> Like I said, the content will be provided through the DTML methods, so one of those would just contain text (for now) ;> Something like --> this is methodB: "Welcome to my site. I hope you enjoy your stay." (without quotes) The actual code for the custom tag is this: <dtml-table leftColumn=_['methodA'] middleColumn=_['methodB'] rightColumn=_['methodC']> This does save correctly, and I tried it with quotes around the passed values also. That also works. Now for the problem. I cannot seem to get the tag to evaluate the methods. What happens is that the attributes take in the literal string "_['methodA']" and displays that in the HTML table. Like so: <table> <tr> <td>_['methodA']</td> <td>_['methodB']</td> <td>_['methodC']</td> </tr> </table> So now, here's the question. Is there a way in DTML to tell it to evaluate _['methodA'] so that when I write: leftColumn=_['methodA'] it will first see that I want the text within the DTML Method methodA, and assign that to the attribute leftColumn? I did something similiar that worked, but it used the <dtml-var> tag. I wrote this to display an image that I wanted to display 500 pixels wide: <dtml-var expr="imageName.tag(width=_['methodSize'])"> Within the DTML Method "methodSize", I simply wrote the string (number) 500 So what happened is that the tag evaluated the method, and returned the string, '500' to make the argument width=500 What I see from this is that the <dtml-var> tag itself does the evaluation on _['methodSize'], correct? I dont do exactly what you are looking for but I do do this: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/zopefolder/$1?REAL_HOST=%{HTTP_HOST} [QSA,P] ProxyPass /misc_ http://localhost:8080/misc_ ProxyPass /p_ http://localhost:8080/p_ Notice that I am passing the HTTP_HOST variable through as a query string append. I do this because it is the only way (that I know of) to pass client info to Zope. I then call it as I would any other zope variable. of course you could do the same for IP or any other similar variable. Hope this helps.
