Traverse REQUEST.form Querystring values
by tomc＠evetcia.com 15 Jun '01

How do I traverse the Querystring values in the REQUEST object? I dont know how many or what name they are so I want to call then in a traverse. There are simple ways to do this in Perl and ASP. Something like <dtml-in "REQUEST.form"> <dtml-var sequence-id> : <dtml-var sequence-value> </dtml-in> Well, I hope you know what I mean. Thanks, Tom

Re: [Zope] Question about __ac_permissions__ and more generally...

Synonymous with index_html This spelling defines the "default permission" for instances of the class: it ends up setting the '__roles__' for the class (and therefore for its instances). This setting is only really important when the object *itself* expects to be published (i.e., it is callable, and defines 'index_html' to be None). If the instance has or acquires an 'index_html', then that method may have its own '__roles__', which will apply, rather than the ones set on the object (the last one found during traversal applies). Check out AccessControl.SecurityInfo.declareObjectProtected(); under the covers, it is doing the exact same thing, but its name makes the intent clearer. Wow. That's good to know. I just created some fairly ugly code to get around the lack of something like a dtml-break. I just tried searching for it on zope.org, on the mailing lists, and using google for good measure. Didn't find any mention of it anywhere. If anybody does come up with a link I'd love to see it. I wonder why there's nothing like that natively..? //glw

defining object types
by Corbett Waddingham 15 Jun '01

Does Zope support strict data/object typing? If so, what's the syntax to instantiate an object of a given type? The only reference I could find that's close is , but what if you don't have data to place in the object yet and still want it to be a certain type? BannerFolder product

Is this still being actively maintained? It doesn't look like it's been updated in a while, and I get an error when I try to import the 0.5pre version. If that product is dead, are there any alternatives that are still being worked on? -- Tim Moore

Virtual Host Monster, mod_rewrite not quite working
by Timothy Wilson 14 Jun '01

14 Jun '01

Hey everyone, I'm trying to use a Virtual Host Monster along with Apache's mod_rewrite to publish some static content along with mostly Zope content. I've followed the How-To at http://www.zope.org/Members/mwr/VHosts_With_Zope_Default but I can't get it to work quite right. Here's the relevant section from httpd.conf: <VirtualHost 206.131.108.110> ServerName mendota.isd197.org DocumentRoot /var/www/district <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteLog "/var/log/apache/rewrite_log" RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteRule ^/webalizer/ - [L] RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.mendota.isd197.org/mendota/V… [P] </IfModule> </VirtualHost> As you can see, I've got some Webalizer statistics I'd like to include along with the rest of the Zope stuff. The problem is that visiting http://www.isd197.org/mendota/ works perfectly, but http://mendota.isd197.org/ doesn't. In the second case, the main graphic on the page isn't visible. How to make a script return rendered dtml
by Tim Hicks 14 Jun '01

14 Jun '01

I have a ZClass (testclass) which subclasses DTMLDocument, and within this zclass, I have a script (python) called index_html. Obviously, this script is called each time an instance of testclass is requested. Based on the presence of a query string, I want to either return the document_src (although with a few modifications), or simply return the rendered instance... by this, I mean have all the dtml tags that are in the instance evaluated. So, my question is, how do I make Zope evaluate the dtml tags? Here is what I have so far in my script: ------------ if context.REQUEST.QUERY_STRING == 'editor': print context.raw else: print context return printed ------------ The 'else' statement simply gives me things like, <dtml-var standard_html_header> I also tried 'else: render(context)', which was simply a guess on my part, but I get a Zope error as follows: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: validate Can anyone enlighten me? Cheers tim

PythonScript calls Z SQL Method

Hi! >can one PythonScript-Object A() call another PythonScript-Object B() > >without help from 'above'? Like (suppose we're in A) >x=5 >y=B() >z=6 > >y=context.B() > >should do it. > >hoping this helps. Thank you! It did. But can a PythonScript-Object A() call a Z SQL Method B(X) without help from 'above'? Like in the above example? Neither y=context.b('x') nor y=context.b(X='x') work. NewB Qs: Classification advice please + many2many relationships
by Felix Ulrich 14 Jun '01

14 Jun '01

Hi Coming from the Java / RDMS world, I'm not sure how best to lay out my new project in Zope. I have Events, and Businesses, both of which have a hierarchy of types (e.g. Events/Entertainment/Films and Business/Entertainment/Theatre, etc.) The events have venues, which are instances of Businesses. My question is: how should I classify my objects, and once I've done that, how do I maintain many-to-many relationships, e.g. all the Events happening at Business X? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Felix. ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
