string module
by Sebal 13 Jun '01

13 Jun '01

I have a method what from a "MULTIPART FORM" put a file named 'myFile.pdf' in a directory. And after i want the methood to create a Zclass instance[PDFclass] whith id=myFile. I tried with split, join, and translate method of string module, and I can't get a valid id with split and join ; and with translate if 'myFile' is 'mypdf' (so the file is 'mypdf.pdf') I'll get 'my' as id for my PDFclass instance. thanx for a tip () / \ | <> | (____) zazen rules ...sbaline _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/

Nonprofits using Zope?
by Eric Balasbas 13 Jun '01

13 Jun '01

We are talking to a nonprofit organization about using Zope for their content management needs. They wanted to know what other nonprofits were using Zope. I searched zope.org and the Zope mailing lists and found only two mentions of nonprofit organizations. I know there must be more people in nonprofits using Zope. Anyone know of nonprofits using Zope? On a related note, I think the "Zope powered links" section of the Zope site should be updated. I think people would be interested to know that cbsnewyork.com and greenpeace.org use Zope. Getting the id of a DTML Document/Method in Python
by Andreas Pauley 13 Jun '01

13 Jun '01

Hi all, I'm trying to write an external method that will loop through all my DTML Documents, and return only objects that match a certain criteria (based on its id). Instead of the id, my External Method returns: [<Python Method object at 83df298>, <Python Method object at 86e9ba8>] whith the following sample code: --- def LinkGenerator(self): objlist=[] for obj in self.objectValues('DTML Document'): objlist.append(obj.id) return objlist --- If I change the self.objectValues('DTML Document') into self.objectValues('Folder'), obj.id returns the correct id: ['folder1', 'folder2', 'folder3'] I've tested a few objectValues, and as far as I can tell it is only DTML Documents and DTML Methods that does not return the id correctly. How can I get to the id of a DTML Document/Method when looping through the objectValues() ? Ultimately I want to do this: def LinkGenerator(self): import re objlist=[] for obj in self.objectValues('DTML Document'): res=re.search('^link', obj.id) if res: objlist.append(obj) return objlist And then use DTML to loop through the resulting objectlist: <dtml-in LinkGenerator> <a href="<dtml-var id>"><dtml-var title_or_id></a><br> </dtml-in> Thanks a lot, Andreas.

Re: [Zope] Date formatting problems
by Felipe E. Barousse Boue 13 Jun '01

Craig: I have my Python compiled with --locale and all the LC_ variables set to my locale's specifics for Mexico. LANGUAGE=es_MX LC_ALL=es_MX LANG=es_MX Zope is started with the -L parameter on the /usr/local/Zope/start script : #! /bin/sh export TZ="America/Mexico_City" #umask 077 for worldpilot use umask 077 reldir=`dirname $0` export Z_REALM='this system: ' PYTHONHOME=`cd $reldir; pwd` export PYTHONHOME exec /usr/bin/python \ $PYTHONHOME/z2.py -u nobody -L es_MX -p '/home/httpd/somedirectory/zope-cgi-bin/Zope.cgi' \ "$@" Then what I use for date formatting in DTML methods is: <dtml-call "ZopeTime().strftime('%Y%m%d%H%M%S')"> or <dtml-var "ZopeTime().strftime('%Y%m%d%H%M%S')"> or <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('somevariable', ZopeTime().strftime('%Y%m%d%H%M%S'))"> when you need to set a variable with a date The %Y %m %d $H %M %S are formatting strings to the strftime functions. Look at the Zope Quick Reference for more information on this formatting variables, some of them DO use the locale settings defined above. You can control what you get on date formatting with strftime(). Hope this helps. Apache & Domain User Problem
by Craig Stoddart 13 Jun '01

13 Jun '01

We are trying to add a new user into our acl_users folder which includes a domain criteria to prevent people from logging into Zope from outwith our network. As we are using Apache, all traffic to our site comes through Apache and therefore all access seems to come through the same IP address. This is making it impossible for us to restrict access to a specific domain. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, did they manage to get round it? ------------------------------------------------- Craig Stoddart IT Software Development Officer Dundee City Council IT Division Northern College Technical Block Gardyne Road Dundee DD5 1NY Phone: 01382 438170 Fax: 01382 438002 E-mail: craig.stoddart(a)dundeecity.gov.uk -------------------------------------------------

Syntax.
by Jason C. Leach 13 Jun '01

13 Jun '01

hi, I just learnt a craxy bit of syntax today. It was how to get the last modified date out of an object. I would never have found that if it was not for this list. There must exist some type of documentation that details this stuff. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks, j. ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach ..

Partial string comparisons
by Andy Gates 13 Jun '01

13 Jun '01

This ought to be mindlessly simple: can I test for a string within another? Example: Finding "<ul>" case insensitive within dtml-myvar? Usage: On a news site, users sometimes put lists in the stories, and I need to sense them in order to cleanly break out of them when summary pages truncate the story thus: <h1>Wow New Product!</h1> <p>Our new product is great, it has:</p> <ul> <li>A titanium case</li> <li>Rugged carry-straps</li> <li>Elasticated ... [More] << code needed here to close that <ul> neatly >> ---------------------- Andy Gates, Learning and Research Technology Andy.Gates(a)bristol.ac.uk - ICQ#74362415 http://www.ilrt.bristol.ac.uk

RE: [Zope] creation of new product
by Max Møller Rasmussen 13 Jun '01

> From: Gitte Wange [mailto:gitte@mmmanager.org] > I am about to create a new Zope product but ... I have a productwizzard that you might be interrested in. It can do most of the stuff that you can do in a zClass, in an easy way. It's a Python program, and it is rather simple to use. Before i release it on zope.org I just want to make it possible to make a dateSelect type so that making dates with selectboxes will be simple. I just havn't got around to making that work yet. There is an ordinary date type though. Generally you just make a short piece of code that generates a working product that you can then modify: ---------------------------------------- newProduct = mxm_simpleProductWizzard(productTitle='tryEmAll') newProduct.append(stringWdg(name='id', default='article_nn')) newProduct.append(stringWdg(name='title', default='article title')) newProduct.append(textWdg(name='summary', default='Write a short summary here.')) newProduct.append(textWdg(name='content', default='Write the content here.')) newProduct.append(stringWdg(name='author', default='Anonymous')) newProduct.append(dateWdg(name='startTime', default='2000/1/1')) ## newProduct.append(dateSelectWdg('startTime')) # not yet working newProduct.append(stringWdg(name='email', default='fill(a)me.out.com')) newProduct.append(selectWdg(name='subject', optionsSource='subjects')) newProduct.save('C:/zope23/lib/python/Products/') print 'Done!' ---------------------------------------- I use it as a startingpoint for my own products and it's quite ok, but still not complete. If you want I can mail you a zip. regards Max M
