RE: [Zope] Sharing Database connections and/or methods between Zo pes?

Nope, sorry... I ALWAYS make sure they are SYSTEM DSNs that get created. I removed and created and removed and created several times all with the same results; and, all while logged on as administrator. Thanks!! -----Original Message----- From: Thomas B. So, thankfully, not a Zope issue. I have one last thing to offer. With ODBC, there are "user" DSN and "system" DSN. You want to be using a "system" DSN, but usually it's "user" connections that get set up. If your Access DSN is not a "system" type, create one and test that. Set it up when you are logged in as Administrator. I bet it will work. Let us know how it works out, please. How to Replicate Zope?
by Pete Nesbitt 06 Jun '01

06 Jun '01

Hi, We have Zope running on a RedHat box at a different site. I am building a dev box that I would like to recreate the same senario as on the production machine, which I would prefer not to take offline (but could if necessary). What is the best method of replicating to the 2nd machine (what files to copy, etc)? Once changes are tested etc, can I just reverse the process to move it back? -- Peter M. Hello, A little while ago someone here asked a question about subject. He had some difficulties on creating SMIL files in Zope. Now I have the same problem. And I THINK it is because I set the wrong content type in the header. My question is: Is there anyone out there with an example on creating smil files in Zope?? Apache Content w/ Zope
by Alex Kelly 06 Jun '01

06 Jun '01

I am very new to Zope, so please bear with me. I have a virtualhost setup with a rewrite rule so that http://my.host.com will take you directly to our zope root. My boss wants us to be able to put some JSP or PHP scripts and be able to go to http://my.host.com/some.php That of course won't work, because that isn't a zope object. I have seen a method of accomplishing something like this with rewrite rules, so you could have http://my.host.com/nozope be delivering the scripts, and if all else fails, we may have to use that method. I thought it might be possible to have rules saying something like "if it ends in php jsp jpg then it is apache content, otherwise it is zope content" I have no clue how to make that work though. Does anyone have any suggestions? Alex Kelly

RE: [Zope] problem with dtml-var displaying None for NULL from po stgres
by Farrell, Troy 06 Jun '01

Chances are (I haven't verified this yet) that PoPy and ZPoPyDA don't set the variable if it isn't there in PostgreSQL. Try: <dtml-var variable missing> Troy -----Original Message----- From: Chris Kratz [mailto:chris.kratz@vistashare.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2001 4:05 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] problem with dtml-var displaying None for NULL from postgres Hello all, Up until this week, we were running Zope on a windows ME box against an access database using ODBC for our first stage of development. Now, I have migrated the database and the zope instance over to a Linux box running Red Hat 7.1, Zope 2.3.2, Python 1.5.2, PostgreSQL 7.1, with the PoPy 2.0.1/ZPoPyDA 1.2 connecting everything up and we are running successfully. My question is this: we have quite a large number of pages where we use the <dtml-var> tag to dump a field from the database (after a select). On the previous setup, when the field was NULL in the database, the var tag happily did nothing. Now, on the new server, if a Null is found, it prints out None instead of nothing. For now, I am manually modifying the pages and wrapping each of the var tags with an if tag like this: <dtmil-if field><dtml-var field></dtml-if> which gives the expected behavior. This works, but is time consuming. I have examined each of the pieces (Zope/ZPoPyDA/PoPy/PostgreSQL) and cannot find an easy way to change this behavior. After reading some related information on the mailing list, I think the culprit is most likely the DA. Unfortunately, I was not successfull in installing the psycopg DA and the current version of egenics mxDateTime so I cannot compare the two DA's (ZPoPyDA and psycopgDA). Is this expected behavior? Is the Zope 2.3.2, Python 1.5.2, ZODBCDA, MSAccess configuration simply different in some aspect? Why are we getting different behaviors with everything the same except a different database? If there is no way around this, is there a faster/better way to modify the pages so that they don't display anything for a NULL field? Thanks for your help, -Chris _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

HowTo Search for a property

Hey all, If you ever wished you could find an object that has a specific property in your site, the following code does the trick. It consists of two methods. Put them in the root folder and "view" FindAProperty. Simply type in the name of the property and ##################################################################### DTML Method FindAProperty: #################################################################### <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h1><dtml-var document_title></h1> <dtml-if property> <FORM METHOD="POST"> <table> <tr><input type="BUTTON" name="Back" value="Back" onClick="history.back()"></tr> </table> </form> Property: <dtml-var property><br> <dtml-in "propertyItems()"> <dtml-if "_['sequence-key'] == property"> Root: <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> <dtml-let path="''"> <dtml-var Recurse> </dtml-let> <dtml-else> <h3>Type the property name you wish to locate</h3> <P><form action="FindAProperty" method="post" name="GetInfo"> <table> <tr><th colspan=4 align="left"><b>Item: </b></th></tr> <tr><td align="right"><b>Property:</B></TD><td align="left"><input type="text" maxlength=50 size=20 name="property" value=''></td></tr> <tr><td align="right"><input type="submit" name="FindProp" value='Submit ID'></td> <td align="left"><input type="BUTTON" name="Back" value="Back" onClick="history.back()"></TD> </table> </form> </dtml-if property> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ##################################################################### DTML Method Recurse: #################################################################### <dtml-in "objectItems(['Folder'])"> <dtml-let path="path + '/' + _.str(id)"> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-in "propertyItems()"> <dtml-if "_['sequence-key'] == property"> <dtml-var path>: <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> <dtml-var Recurse> </dtml-with> </dtml-let> </dtml-in>
