Using the Namespace binding
by Lee Shakespeare 05 Jun '01

05 Jun '01

Hi Folks. Can some explain to me how I access DTML vars from a called python script? From what I've gleamed from the Zope book, I can set the Namespace binding for the script to expose the DTML namespace, but I'm having problems accessing it. I've tried _.varname, which gave me an attribute error and _varname is an illegal variable name. The variable is accessible from the calling DTML method via dtml-var Cheers. Optional parameters
by Lee Shakespeare 05 Jun '01

05 Jun '01

Hi Folks. This might be the first of a few quick newbie questions. I hope that this is the best place to ask, please let me know if there's somewhere better. Is it possible to have optional parameters to a Zope python script? If I include the variable in the list of parameters and don't pass it in the form, Zope complains. If I don't include it in the parameters and try to access it Zope complains. Zope has been complaining at me a lot this morning :) TIA. Lee. -- Lee Shakespeare : lee at webfoundry dot co dot uk

RE: [Zope] Sharing Database connections and/or methods between Zo pes?

Don't even care about slow at this point! Just the functionality.... So I can assume then that remote access of ZSQL methods is not possible?? Seems like ZEO is the answer for everything! <8^) If anyone can think of a reason why this would not work, please drop a note. If this is considered OT then jsut email me directly. -----Original Message----- From: Andy McKay [mailto:andym@ActiveState.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2001 1:09 PM To: Schmidt, Allen J.; zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Sharing Database connections and/or methods between Zopes? Ah well thats the point of a database of course, is you can share it. You could concont some other solution with other stuff but you might find it slow. This sound like a perfect job for ZEO. Tried that... On the main Zope server, created an ODBC DSN that pointed to the other server with a drive letter mapping. Selected the drive, pointed to the database, clicked OK and it was done. However, when trying to establish a ZODBC connection using the new DSN, it states "an invalid connection string". This is also a confirmed problem using other access methods with another type of database connection program. I get the 'S1000' error which can mean 20 different things; some of them permission related. The servers are both Win2K and in the same domain structure logged on with the same Id. The files are visible and available cross the network. The connection can be made but it will not work. Very frustrating... hello, re this earlier post which i'm still having problems with, can anyone enlighten me as to what could be causing this excessive recursion error (and how to avoid it)? cheers, G ------- Forwarded message follows ------- From: Garry Steedman <gs(a)styrax.com> To: tim(a)freepm.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Equality test: if sequence-item = document id Copies to: zope(a)zope.org, "Max Møller Rasmussen" <maxm(a)normik.dk> Send reply to: gs(a)styrax.com Date sent: Fri, 1 Jun 2001 14:52:32 +0000 Hi Tim, i don't understand why, but it doesn't work for me! what i have is this: a nav_stuff method: <DIV CLASS=navigation VALIGN="top"> <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues('DTML Document')" sort=menu_sort_order> <dtml-if "hasProperty('menu_sort_order')"> <dtml-if "_['sequence-item']==this_id">   <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;">[<dtml-var title>]</a> <dtml-else> </dtml-if>   <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title></a> <dtml-else> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </DIV> which is called from the standard header. the standard header and the nav_stuff method are in the same folder. if i have a document in a subfolder which calls the standard header, which in turn calls the code above, i get an excessive recursion error. any suggestions would be much appreciated! cheers, G On 1 Jun 2001, at 7:30, Tim Cook wrote: From: Tim Cook <twcook(a)iswt.com> Send reply to: tim(a)freepm.org Organization: Free Practice Management, Inc. Zope & MySQL: one step closer
by Horst Wald 05 Jun '01

05 Jun '01

Hi! As some of you might already know, I'm trying to connect Zope to MySQL which proves to be quite a hard thing for a small mind like mine. So I bought myself an ebook, and it says I need: Suse Linux 6.4 Zope 2.2.0 or higher MySQL 3.22.32 Python 1.5.2 ZMySQLDA-2.0.6 MySQLdb-0.3.5 I have Suse Linux 7.0, Zope 2.3.2 and the rest is just what the ebook wants. Of course I happily did everything I was told there, encountering no problems at all - until I tried to add a "Z MySQL Connection"-object which, as the book says, should be available in the "Ojects available"-menue, but wasn't. (Of course I restarted the server before.) Now I suspect, when the book was written, there was no Zope 2.3.2 and the explanation in the book worked for Zope 2.2.0 and every higher version that was released before the book was. In more detail, what I did was: - install MySQL and Python with YAST - download Zope 2.3.2, because Linux 6.4 comes with Zope 2.1.6 and the book says I need 2.2.0 or more - unpack the adapter and the interface into the directories named in the book - compile the interface - restart the server - get angry because after all this, my Zope wasn't changed at all Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Horst _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

[Q] zope starting problem
by YOON, Joo-Yung 05 Jun '01

Hi, I am currently experiencing a difficulty running zope (2.3.2). Before, the error message was like this. File /usr/local/zope/2-3-2/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 110, in ? File /usr/local/zope/2-3-2/lib/python/ZODB/FileStorage.py, line 264, in __init__ File /usr/local/zope/2-3-2/lib/python/ZODB/lock_file.py, line 101, in lock_file StorageSystemError: Could not lock the database file. There must be another process that has opened the file. <p> (Zope was run from /etc/init.d/zope start during booting. And I can not log in, but the clients in the lan can do jobs of internet.) So I removed all init files of zope, and booted again. And then another strange thing shows up during booting like this. Starting deferred execution: atd (It still runs zope even though I deleted all init like files of zope.) Is there anybody that could help me understand these problems. My environment is as follows. 1. zope: 2.3.2 2. debian 2.2 (potato) 3. kernel 2.2.19 4. CPU: AMD486 DX4 100MHz 5. RAM: 48M Thanks, Joo-Yung
