Don't even care about slow at this point! Just the functionality.... So I can assume then that remote access of ZSQL methods is not possible?? Seems like ZEO is the answer for everything! <8^) If anyone can think of a reason why this would not work, please drop a note. Tried that... On the main Zope server, created an ODBC DSN that pointed to the other server with a drive letter mapping. Selected the drive, pointed to the database, clicked OK and it was done. However, when trying to establish a ZODBC connection using the new DSN, it states "an invalid connection string". This is also a confirmed problem using other access methods with another type of database connection program. I get the 'S1000' error which can mean 20 different things; some of them permission related. The servers are both Win2K and in the same domain structure logged on with the same Id. The files are visible and available cross the network. The connection can be made but it will not work. Very frustrating... Zope & MySQL: one step closer

Hi! As some of you might already know, I'm trying to connect Zope to MySQL which proves to be quite a hard thing for a small mind like mine. So I bought myself an ebook, and it says I need: Suse Linux 6.4 Zope 2.2.0 or higher MySQL 3.22.32 Python 1.5.2 ZMySQLDA-2.0.6 MySQLdb-0.3.5 I have Suse Linux 7.0, Zope 2.3.2 and the rest is just what the ebook wants. Of course I happily did everything I was told there, encountering no problems at all - until I tried to add a "Z MySQL Connection"-object which, as the book says, should be available in the "Ojects available"-menue, but wasn't. (Of course I restarted the server before.) Now I suspect, when the book was written, there was no Zope 2.3.2 and the explanation in the book worked for Zope 2.2.0 and every higher version that was released before the book was. In more detail, what I did was: - install MySQL and Python with YAST - download Zope 2.3.2, because Linux 6.4 comes with Zope 2.1.6 and the book says I need 2.2.0 or more - unpack the adapter and the interface into the directories named in the book - compile the interface - restart the server - get angry because after all this, my Zope wasn't changed at all Any suggestions? hello does anybody now, how to get the context from which a specific method is called in a python product like in python scripts or dtml i dont wanna use DTMLFile or HTMLFile Classes i want to implement a function which recursively goes upwards in an object tree if a property has a specific value till it gets another value, but i cant get the context from where the method is called. thx

[Q] zope starting problem

Hi, I am currently experiencing a difficulty running zope (2.3.2). Before, the error message was like this. File /usr/local/zope/2-3-2/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 110, in ? File /usr/local/zope/2-3-2/lib/python/ZODB/FileStorage.py, line 264, in __init__ File /usr/local/zope/2-3-2/lib/python/ZODB/lock_file.py, line 101, in lock_file StorageSystemError: Could not lock the database file. There must be another process that has opened the file. <p> (Zope was run from /etc/init.d/zope start during booting. And I can not log in, but the clients in the lan can do jobs of internet.) So I removed all init files of zope, and booted again. And then another strange thing shows up during booting like this. Starting deferred execution: atd (It still runs zope even though I deleted all init like files of zope.) Is there anybody that could help me understand these problems. My environment is as follows. 1. zope: 2.3.2 2. debian 2.2 (potato) 3. kernel 2.2.19 4. CPU: AMD486 DX4 100MHz 5. RAM: 48M Thanks, Joo-Yung

Hello Zopesters: I am collecting resources for the ZPug.org site and I would like to journal the typical install on a common box and I would like some help with obvious tips, tricks, resources, etc, that will help someone install Zope on a box. Okay, I have a 300MHz K6-2 AMD box with 128M and 18G SCSI and I currently have it set up with a minorly customised Red Hat 6.2 box running apache and serving static and php pages with a mysql back end. I would like the step required to replace my /home/httpd/html stuff so that Apache resolves <http://www.zdev.org> to Zope 2.3.2 instead of PHP or static. So, lets start from scratch. Installing Zope. How to pre-prepare. How to ready, what to check for, and how to proceed as smartly as possible. This site will host a Zope Development Environment as well as MySQL and Mailman services. Okay. After install, how to I change the httpd.conf files so that I can run Zope through CGI -- but I would also like people who are checking my box to recognise that I use Linux, Apache, Python, and Zope! So that I can be part of the War against Netcraft's "where in the Web is Zope" ploy! Okay, so How should I go about it? When I install should I alias Products or mv them to /Products? Where should I install Zope? How do I install multiple instances? What should I and what shouldn't I do? What mistakes really mess up a person's day? What online resources would you not be able to live without, both pushed to my INBOX or visited or checked? Cheers! Is 2.3.3 coming?

Maybe I took a left turn at Albuquerque, but didn't I see betas for 2.3.3 out there? Now all I see in development is 2.4 alphas. Is there going to be a 2.3.3 sometime, or should we just apply the hotfix to 2.3.2 and wait for 2.4? That will teach me to go off to a conference for a while... Cheers, Ron
