Problems with xml-rpc

Hi all, The last problem I was having with xmlrpc and Zope was "Growing Refcounts" (you can review it in this mailing list). I resolved the problem applying the patch to xmlrpclib.py referenced in http://www.pythonware.com/products/xmlrpc/bug-xmlrpc1.htm. ¿Why, you, people of DC do not apply this patch? But now there seems to appear another problem related to xml-rpc. I'm using a python xmlrpc client to talk to a Zope server. The problem appears if I pass a string argument containing the symbol "&". Example > s = xmlrpclib.Server('http://localhost/RPC') > s.anymethod('string & parameter') The zope server responds: xmlrpclib.Fault: <Fault -2: 'Unexpected Zope error value: <unknown>:1:0: not well-formed\012\012\012'> I am using Zope-2.3.2.

Postgres adapters

Hi all, Can anyone comment on past experiences with various postgres adapters? I am using the latest PoPy (201) and have just recently noticed psychopg. Is it better, faster, more reliable or any of the above? Paz

ZSQL Methods in Z Classes

Hi Guys, I wanted to use ZSQL Methods in Z Classes to share code between different parts of a large project. The different parts need to use similar, but separate, database namespaces, but I still wanted to use the same methods. Now, ZSQL Methods treat their Database connection ID, for some reason, on a par with their source -- it is not a parameter. You are not supposed to run one ZSQL Method on two connections. (One can try to acquire, restricting yourself to the same ID name in different folders; I think this will not work, and the ZSQL methods will get to their original DB connection first). I tried to bypass this limitation, by defining a forwarding database adapter. The idea was that this adapter's connection string would point to a resource (property or method) which will specify the actual connection. The idea was that in a ZClass, I could have this be a pythonscript which will look into an instance property sheet, thereby allowing different instances to use different connections. This seemed to work very nicely at first: After the ZClass with the forwarding adapter and pythonscript was installed into a folder, all its methods worked like magic. I was very happy. Then we restarted Zope, and ever since, it seems like the Adapter is being called by the ZSQL Methods without any acquisiotion context. Could you help show me what went wrong? BTW: I intended to make the forwarding DA a product, and to ship with it a base ZClass for ZSQL methods-using ZClasses, which I wanted to call "ZSQL Class". But even before the current problems, I was halted by the fact that if you define a database connection in a ZClass, ZSQL Methods in derived classes cannot use it. In fact, even ZSQL Methods in the same class as the adapter act funny -- you can set it as their connection, but in the source they say "connection not found", and you can't test them in the class context (even when they don't rely on instance resources). Hope this is informative enough, and that others have thought of these problems, Shai.

I would like to include some verbatim code in my zwiki. The verbatim tag is being recognized (ie the newlines are honored and the typewriter like font is used, but a lot of the syntax is lost. First of all... documentation was not on the poll... :) Ok. Now for the real question. What would I pay for a authoring tool? Well, assuming it had the following: - No OS Dependancy (runs on anything from Windows 95 -> OS X) - Small application size - A good set of features (Color coding) As an individual I would pay up to $75. I am looking for a WebRing Product in Zope

I would like to migrate the webring I manage to a zope server. I hope that someone has written webring software, but I cannot find any myself. If you know of any webring software could you be so kind as to let me know. Agreed. This would enable me to at least treat my TTW code and my on-disk stuff (Python products, ext. methods) roughly the same and use tools I am already used to using for IDE use; that is not to say that I wouldn't want an IDE, but that I am willing to wait. Zope already has a one up in terms of development ease over other competing popular development technologies like Java, because there is no compilation involved to get a my python code working (and there are no other big steps if using the 'refresh' product to reload products). Python Scripts, dir() and attributes.

I'm trying to get the value of a ZSQL search (integer) using a PythonScript... l = [ ] results = context.select_highest_id_from_answers() for f in results: l.append(f) Return l ...but my function is returning a db results instance. Like this... [<r instance at 0E2A5A00>] I have two questions. Firstly, how to get the value of a results set, And secondly is there a nice way to inspect objects using python scripts. Sir, I have zope running at my linux server. I have a NT workstation.I am accessing zope from linux server as http://servername/manage. ok. I am having one folder raja in the zope. Now, I want to run the zope like this http://localhost:8080/manage which is having only my folder and control panel. got it?
