return object from script
by Ulrich Wisser 19 May '01

19 May '01

Hi, my python script returns an array of dictionaries, like: [{'num':1, 'letter':'a'},{'num':2, 'letter':'b'}] in a dtml-document I try to print these values: <dtml-in "script(param=param)"> <dtml-var num><br><dtml-var letter> </dtml-in> This results in a key error. How do I have to return the values to make the dtml-code work? I know <dtml-var "_['sequence-item']['num']"> works, but I want<dtml-var num> to work. Getting the requested object's properties (CMF/LoginManager)
by Sreeram Ramachandran 19 May '01

19 May '01

Hi, System: Zope 2.3.2b2, CMF 1.0, LoginManager 0.8.8b1, Zope/Python Newbie :) I wish to customize the following code in standard_html_header (from the default CMF skins): <dtml-if "_.hasattr(this(),'isEffective') and not isEffective( ZopeTime() )"> <dtml-unless "portal_membership.checkPermission('Request review',this()) or portal_membership.checkPermission('Review portal content',this())"> <dtml-var "RESPONSE.unauthorized()"> </dtml-unless> </dtml-if> Instead of an HTTP-AUTH dialog (as it now stands), I would like to put out a LoginManager-style "forbiddenPage". The following will not work, because the "something follows here" (plus the standard_html_footer) section will still get output: standard_html_header: if ...: // same check as above <dtml-var forbiddenPage> else: ... // normal stuff some_page: <dtml-var standard_html_header> ... something follows here ... <dtml-var standard_html_footer> So, what I need to do is to move the "isEffective" check into the LoginManager or somewhere else upstream in the authentication process. Hopefully, the same place where LoginManager checks to see if it should call "forbiddenPage" based on the user's roles versus object's required roles. Any suggestions on how to code it? After looking through the code, I realize my problem is not knowing how to access the requested object (i.e., equivalent to the "this()" above) as well as making sure that the portal_membership.checkPermission doesn't somehow end up recursing infinitely. I figure it can be done somehow using PARENTS inside the validate() function in LoginManager.py, but I need help. Thanks! Re: [Zope] Problem with Automatic Cataloging Example in ZopeBook
by Antwan Reijnen 19 May '01

19 May '01

Hi Chris, Chris and fellow Zopers, I promised an update on the Automatic Cataloging example in the Zope book, but I was offline for a few days. Sorry for that. So here it is: I had the same problem when I tried the example from the book (even the final version). Also, I used a non-standard name (say myCatalog) for the ZCatalogue, and in this way introduced another problem: The example in the book only works with the standard named Catalog: "Catalog". Finally, the book forgets to add the new properties to the default input form for the newly created newsitem. So, take the following steps. 1. Modify the NewsItem_addForm dtml-method, by adding input fields for the content, author and date properties. You do want to be able to put some newsthings in the new NewsItem. 2. Modify the standard <dtml-with ...> tag in the NewsItem_add dtml-method: <dtml-with "NewsItem.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_editCataloger('myCatalog')"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.News.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call reindex_object> </dtml-with> **manage_editCataloger('myCatalog') tells the newsitem constructor which Catalog is to be used to index the newsitem. When you omit this line, the name of the catalog used, will default to "Catalog". **propertysheets.News.manage_editProperties(REQUEST) writes the values from the manage_addForm newsitem properties, to the newly created newsitem; **reindex_object tells the catalogue to re-index this newsitem. Why is this nessecary? Because when the newsitem is constructed, it is auto-added to the catalog, but at that stage, the properties do not contain the addForm data yet: take a look at the first few lines of the manage_afterAdd method in CatalogAwareness.py: def manage_afterAdd(self, item, container): self.index_object() .... etcetera This should do the trick. However, it seems unlogical to me that we should reindex a catalogaware class, on creation of a new item. Would'nt it make more sense, that the cataloging takes place, only after the properties take their initial values? Greetings to all, Antwan. At 11:28 AM 5/16/01 +0900, you wrote: Hi fellow Zopers, I've been running in some problems with Cataloging and went to the ZopeBook to see whats wrong. In trying to work through the examples in Chapter 9, Automatic Cataloging, I found that with the latest and greatest Zope 2.3.2, the Catalog fails to acquire and catalog the properties of my NewsItem. Just to verify that I am not doing something very stupid wrong, I went through the same exercise with an old Zope 2.2.1 I had lying around. No problem there, the Catalog looks as expected. Has anybody else run into this or a similar problem? Is it a bug in the ZOpeBook in ZOpe or in my (unplugged) brain? "Object does not support this operation"
by WrestGalen＠aol.com 19 May '01

19 May '01

Hello everyone. I have a web page with a member base. When people wish to become "New" members, they mearly fill out the join form, and click ok. This goes into a folder called member_lists/profiles/ and clones a dtml-document called blank_sheet, and then modifies the properties of this clone to match the new information inputted by the user. However, when I submit the join (this had worked previously, but once we had updated the join form, it ceased working. On our other test page as well, which is strange since we didn't update that.) it gives me a "Object blank_sheet does not support this operation" error. The join form submits its data to submit_join, which does all the work. Here is the code for submit_join. <dtml-with "PARENTS[-1].f_member_lists.profiles"> <dtml-with "manage_clone(blank_sheet,'new_' + REQUEST['character_name'],REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties( title=REQUEST['character_name'], age=REQUEST['age'], gender=REQUEST['gender'], politics=REQUEST['politics'], real_name=REQUEST['real_name'], character_name=REQUEST['character_name'], location=REQUEST['location'], race=REQUEST['race'], character_class=REQUEST['character_class'], specialization=REQUEST['specialization'], discipline_1=REQUEST['discipline_1'], discipline_2=REQUEST['discipline_2'], discipline_3=REQUEST['discipline_3'], char_description=REQUEST['char_description'], icq=REQUEST['icq'], aim=REQUEST['aim'], email=REQUEST['email'], days_active=REQUEST['days_active'], hours_on=REQUEST['hours_on'], currently_play=REQUEST['currently_play'], game_genres=REQUEST['game_genres'], used_play=REQUEST['used_play'], reasons=REQUEST['reasons'], where_hear=REQUEST['where_hear'], goals=REQUEST['goals'], contribute=REQUEST['contribute'], leadership=REQUEST['leadership'], drink=REQUEST['drink'], aliens=REQUEST['aliens'], animals=REQUEST['animals'], website=REQUEST['website'], )"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> <P>Thank you for filling out our application!</P> <p>A confirmation e-mail has been sent to you.</p> <P>To return to the main page, click <a href="http://thekindred.mamey.com/">here</A>.</P> and here is code for the blank_sheet <TABLE WIDTH="300" ALIGN="CENTER" VALIGN="TOP"> <TR> <TD COLSPAN=2> <B>Personal Information</B> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Name: <TD> <dtml-if real_name><dtml-var real_name></dtml-if real_name> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Age: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if age><dtml-var age></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Gender: </TD> <TD> <dtml-var gender></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Political Party: </TD> <TD> <dtml-var politics> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Location: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if location><dtml-var location></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> ICQ#: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if icq><dtml-var icq></dtml-if> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> AIM: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if aim><dtml-var aim></dtml-if> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> E-mail: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if email><dtml-var email></dtml-if> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Aliens: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if aliens><dtml-var aliens></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD COLSPAN=2><B>Character Information</B></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Characters Name: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if character_name><dtml-var character_name></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Race: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if race><dtml-var race></dtml-if> </TD> <TR> <TD> Class: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if class><dtml-var character_class></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Specialization: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if specialization><dtml-var specialization></dtml-if> <TD> Diciplines: </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD align="center" colspan="2"><dtml-if discipline_1><dtml-var discipline_1></dtml-if></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD align="center" colspan="2"><dtml-if discipline_2><dtml-var discipline_2></dtml-if></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD align="center" colspan="2"><dtml-if discipline_3><dtml-var discipline_3></dtml-if></TD> </TR> <TR> <TR> <TD> Small Furry Animals: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if animals><dtml-var animals></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Character Description: </TD> <TD><TEXTAREA COLS="20" ROWS="5"><dtml-if char_description><dtml-var char_description></dtml-if></TEXTAREA></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Days most active: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if days_active><dtml-var days_active></dtml-if> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Hours spent online each day: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if hours_on><dtml-var hours_on></dtml-if> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Game Genres enjoyed: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if game_genres><dtml-var game_genres></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Reasons for joining the <dtml-if guild_name><dtml-var guild_name></dtml-if></TD> <TD> <TEXTAREA ROWS="5" ><dtml-if reasons><dtml-var reasons></dtml-if></TEXTAREA> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Where did you hear about us? </TD> <TD> <dtml-if where_hear><dtml-var where_hear></dtml-if> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> What do you want to achieve playing shadowbane? </TD> <TD> <dtml-if goals><dtml-var goals></dtml-if> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> What do you think you can contribute to the guild? </TD> <TD> <TEXTAREA ROWS="5"><dtml-if contribute><dtml-var contribute></dtml-if></TEXTAREA></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Leadership Experience: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if leadership><dtml-var leadership></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Coke or Pepsi?: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if drink><dtml-var drink></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> Favorite Website: </TD> <TD> <dtml-if website><dtml-var website></dtml-if > </TD> </TR> </TABLE> I have been goofing around with proxy on the pages, and I origionally thought that was the issue, but I made a copy of blank_sheet AND submit_join in which I didn’t touch the proxy, and those still had the same error. I also have a java script running for the fourm, which checks to make sure all the fields are filled in, but that is on join_form, not submit_join, so I don’t think that’s it (don’t see why it would be either). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

CMFTopic problem, passing args in DTML, or just brain damage?
by marc lindahl 19 May '01

19 May '01

If I create a CMFTopic in the root called 'list', why does this work: http://servername.com/list?Subject=something ...giving me whatever my criterion is, narrowed by matching Subject='something' ...when calling the thing in DTML: list(_.None,_,Subject='something') doesn't seem to recognize the parameter? (and, I've tried many variations, wrapping with a dtml-with, passing 'list' instead of _ or _.None, passing a dict {'Subject':'something'}, all the same result) what am I missing?

Here's the code I use from python: RESPONSE.setCookie('cookiename', 'cookie value', path='/', expires='Sunday 20-05-001 12:00:00 GMT') Or, with no expiration: RESPONSE.setCookie('cookiename', 'cookie value', path='/') To do this from DTML would look like: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.setCookie('cookiename', 'cookie value', path='/', expires='Sunday 20-05-001 12:00:00 GMT')"> Or: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.setCookie('cookiename', 'cookie value', path='/')"> This works fine in python 1.5.2, zope 2.3.1. -Randy FYI, the 4th parameter is self, an implicit parameter to a python method. > -----Original Message----- > From: Tommy Johnson [mailto:tommy@7x.com] > Sent: Friday, May 18, 2001 4:12 PM > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: [Zope] Setting a Cookie > > > Hey all, > > I'm trying to set a cookie. python: can't open file 'zpasswd.py'
by Daniel Muller 18 May '01

18 May '01

I've just completed an rpm install of zope on a linux box and I'm not able to log into the management screen. Zope is running. I can see it fine at: http://puccini.myhost.edu:8080 I next tried to log onto the management screen: http://puccini.myhost.edu:8080/manage and was prompted for a username and password I entered u: superuser p:123 and receiver the "unauthorized user " message. Next I logged onto my server trying to run zpasswd.py I tried various ways to run this script including: /usr/bin/python1.5 zpasswd.py /var/zope/access Every time I get the following message: python: can't open file 'zpasswd.py' [root@puccini bin]# ls -l zpasswd -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 9546 May 8 16:00 zpasswd [root@puccini zope]# ls -l access -rw-r----- 1 root zope 65 May 17 10:16 access I've searched this mailing list for answers but I'm still stumped. Questions: 1. Why can't run zpasswd.py 2. Can I edit the access file manually? (Here is what the access file looks like: superuser:{SHA}QL0AFWMIX8NRZTKeof9cXsvbvu8= :puccini.myhost.edu)
