Zope problems with IE5

Lots of people seem to have recently reported a problem with IE5 and the ZMI, where whatever you click on in the lefthand frame, it gives you the "View" version of the object in the righthand frame. Well I'd never had that problem, but today I did, so here's what caused it... might be unique to me, but might be what has caused the problem for a few people? Check under Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab - mine usually has "Never dial a connection" selected. For some reason IE had gone and set itself to "Always dial my default connection"! once I set it back to "Never dial..." the ZMI worked fine again! It could be that when people have been told to update IE, it has reset this option, and that's why updating has worked?? Hope that helps someone! :-) Cheers, Jon

New LoginMethod for LoginManager

Hello, we need to write a custom LoginMethod for LoginManager (0.8.8b1). From the list I read it is quite simple, but we do not know where to start: - do we have to write a Python Product based on PlugIn? - is it possible to create a folder-like object directly in Zope and create a set of methods inside that implement the API? - maybe a ZClass? In LoginManager, there is a HOWTO promised for about a year, but still nothing. Basically, we would like to avoid going into the Python and write a product. Any hints? Thanks, Michal Bukovjan

I need the >entire result set. My eurocents: return stops the current script and returns immediately. The for loop loops over all records. Att the first record it sees a return and the script stops. I am not a python expert and i didn't test it, but may be you could try something like this: To make it work you need to change your SQL method, returning only the columns you need. To be honest i couldn't make i working the way you want it. OK, I've figured this much out so far. I've created one DTML document for each registration. I'm using acquisition to pass that document to a DTML method that displays the document. The URL looks like: ".../Yourfullname3b01efcd/DisplayFullRegInfo" where Yourfullname3b01efcd is the document name, and DisplayFullRegInfo is the DTML method. Now I want to get the information in the document (which is a python dictionary in text form) and use eval() (which I've put in an external method) to parse it back into a python dictionary. To get the data in the document, it turns out all I have to do is say "PARENTS[0]". Now the fun starts. This is in DisplayFullRegInfo: <dtml-let data="PARENTS[0]"> <dtml-var data><hr> <dtml-var expr="parseSeminarRegistration(data)"> </dtml-let> I keep getting weird error messages for parseSeminarRegistration(), which worked in a different DTML method just fine. The messages complain about the argument, so I decide to examine the argument type. Here's the external method, parseSeminarRegistration(): import types def parseSeminarRegistration(code): return 'your type is: ' + str(type(code)) #return eval(code) Normally I just use eval(), but this should indicate the type. Zope + ADO ?

I was describing Zope to an network system engineer recently. He was very interested but said he wanted to read the docuemntation on intefarceing Zope with Microsoft ADO stuff. Hi all, Could someone point me to a URL or other resource that explains how to plug in the CoreSessionTracking product? (This one is for the guy who will actually maintain the server.) My question is where can I find some code examples of using the session objects. I'm interested in syntax really, because I'm already familiar with Session objects from ColdFusion and ASP. problem with PIL .save

Hi, We have Zope 2.3.1 installed, running with Python 1.5.2, and python image library 1.1.1, on a PC with SUSE Linux 7.1. When we run the following code from python we have no prob, we get the rectangle image file img.png, and we also see it in xv according to the im.show() import Image, ImageDraw im = Image.new("RGB",(200,200)) draw = ImageDraw.Draw(im) draw.rectangle((10,10,100,150), fill=(255,255,255)) del draw im.show() im.save("/usr/tmp/img.png","PNG") Now the problem is when we use the same code in a python external method called from zope. we get the following error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: _save ... /db1/Zope-2.3.1-linux2-x86/Extensions/feature_view.py, line 114, in draw_segment File /usr/local/lib/python1.5/site-packages/PIL/Image.py, line 674, in save File /usr/local/lib/python1.5/site-packages/PIL/PngImagePlugin.py, line 410, in _save AttributeError: (see above) feature_view.py, line 114 corresponds to the im.save line The funny thing is that a img.png file is saved to disk, but is corrupted, but we still can see the correct image from xv, according to the im.show() call. 2.3.2 SiteRoot and ZCatalog Woe

Hi, I'm using SiteRoot on a 2.3.2 installation. It looks like there is a mismatch between the Zcatalog and Siteroot. When I add a new catalogaware Zclass instance to a Catalog it gets cataloged with its SiteRoot relative path (i.e not including the real root folder), which is what I would expect. But when I try to access the cataloged object's properties from DTML using either the new getObject or the old getobject(data_record_id_), I get a key error. If I use the "Find Objects" tab in the Catalog's management interface, it catalogs duplicates of the objects (i.e. the object is in there twice), but this time with the full path from Zope's real root (i.e. ignoring the SiteRoot). And I *can* access these using get[Oo]bject. So it looks to me like ZCatalog is not aware of SiteRoot's URL magic. Anyone got a patch? --- Rob
