sorry for this basic question but i can not manage to log me into the online help system of zope. the left frame with the topic directory shows up but when i try to click any topic link it ask me for http login and then replies Authorization failed. i tried as the admin user which is managing zope or as a new user at the root level with the role owner. thanks for any help kuno

switching language in nav-bar and wysiwyg

hello, can anyone offer an implementation for deciding between different languages in a navigation bar thus changing navigation bar entries and picking different (e.g. pages in spanish instead of english language) content referenced by the entries? besides i would need a kind of wysiwyg-editor that can be integrated into zope. any ideas? thanks a lot, jan

Does anybody know where the ZMySQLDA including mysqldb in one bundle? I downloaded it on Monday from zope.org but today I can´t find it. There is only ZMySQLDA 2.0.6 without mysqldb.

Management interfaces for ZPatterns applications

Hi, I'm struggling with finding the best way to implement a management interface for a ZPatterns-based application. In the past I've implemented a custom interface for every application, but to keep my current project simple, I'd like to take advantage of the existing management interface. Problem is, it's not easy. First, the manageInstances_html methods of my Specialists need to be integrated into the management tabs. But /manage on a Specialist gives me the standard Specialist management tabs, so I would have to create a custom Specialist-subclassed Product for every Specialist, just to add in my own tabs. Second, I can't get the tabs_path to show anything useful. My management links use absolute_url. So if, for example, I'm viewing a Task at /my_site/Tasks/123/manage_edit and I click on a subtask link, I get /my_site/Subtasks/456/manage_edit - so the tabs_path doesn't show the object's context. If I avoid using absolute_url, in the same case I would get /my_site/Tasks/123/Subtasks/456/manage_edit, which is a bit more useful but also ugly and confusing. So, what does this leave me with? Create a Python Product for the top level of the application and for every Specialist that needs to display a UI for the classes it manages. Then, override tabs_path_default with a method that somehow figures out the right path to display. And how would that work? I still think management links should use absolute urls, so I need to somehow build the path back from the displayed object, without relying on the traversal path. I could get every object supply a parent_id, then I would have to scan all the Specialists to find that parent, display it, and go on to locate its parent. KISS goes out the window. Can anyone throw some ideas on how to simplify this mess? I'm starting to think my life would be a lot easier if I didn't use ZPatterns and just used object managers to store contained objects... but I don't want to give up ZPatterns yet... I'm trying to build the Expat library as part of the ParsedXML product install. This with Zope 2.3.2 on Linux. Here's what I run: cd /usr/local/Zope-2.3.2/lib/python/Products/ParsedXML/Expat /usr/local/Zope-2.3.2/bin/python setup.py It seems to get through the confugure step ok, but then it fails somewhere during make: make -f ./Makefile.pre.in VPATH=. srcdir=. \ VERSION=$VERSION \ installdir=$installdir \ exec_installdir=$exec_installdir \ Makefile make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/Zope-2.3.2/lib/python/Products/ParsedXML/Expat' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/local/Zope-2.3.2/lib/python1.5/config/Makefile', needed by `sedscript'. Some problems contributing to this is that Egroups/YahooGroups interface interprets HTML mail for the user. So those who are aware of HTML vs. text issues may be unaware that they are sending to the list in HTML if they read via egroups and then mail to the list. (648 people) They never see a restriction until they get a reply from someone on the list. The NIP search engine doesn't handle it the same way, so you see the attachment, as do those who subscribe directly. And... users of Microsoft Exchange Server, Outlook etc.. based email systems may not be able to control the settings if the server is set to override it or may be unaware that MS does not default to plain text.
