ok. when you try to view http://hostname:8080/ it raises an authentication box, right? What does it say if you click cancel? Is it: Unauthorized. You are not authorized to access this resource. If yes, then you've got me stumped. If not, I might still have a clue. -----Original Message----- From: Rahsheen Porter [mailto:cipher_atl@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, May 14, 2001 3:12 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] In Ref to: Permissions Problem Yeah, I've murdered IE 5.0 several times. I'll try an upgrade and see if that helps. I was beginning to think that was the problem. One thing I don't understand is how can I be authenticated just fine to manage the resources, but not the View them. If I'm not visiting a management resource, why in the world would there need to be any authentication? Especially if a folder doesn't even contain an acl_users folder. --- "Farrell, Troy" <troy.farrell(a)wcg.com> wrote: > Have you closed and reopened your browser? Julian Date
by matt standish 14 May '01

Has anyone out there ever been able to work with Julian dates with ZOPE? If you are unfamiliar with a Julian date it is the year followed by the number of day. example: today is 01134 day. 01 is the year, today is the 134th day of the year. Thanks.

RE: [Zope] Trailing 'L' after number values
by Eric Walstad 14 May '01

14 May '01

Hi Neil, I handle your problem like this in my MySQL queries: SELECT CONV(MONTH(Birthday), 10, 10) AS BirthMonth ...yaddayaddayadda The CONV function "Returns a string representation of the number N, converted from base from_base to base to_base." So in my case, MONTH was returning a Long data type which was displaying the 'L' in my query results. I use CONV to convert the Long in base 10 to a *String* representation of the number in base ten. It's kind of a lame fix, but it works! There's a really cool searchable help system for MySQL at: http://www.mysql.com/php/manual.php3 Hope that helps! Give Anon permission to "Access Contents Information". That should fix it. -----Original Message----- From: Rahsheen Porter [mailto:cipher_atl@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, May 14, 2001 2:21 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] In Ref to: Permissions Problem --- "Farrell, Troy" <troy.farrell(a)wcg.com> wrote: > Well, Rahsheen, what did you do to bring zope to > this state? I was running behind Apache, but got rid of that so clear things up a little. There is a Zope root acl_users with 2 manager accounts. The root folder is set up for the Manager to do everything, Anonymous can only view things, and Owner does nothing. I can do anything I want to the site except View the content. It prompts for a password, but will always deny access no matter what account I use. Anon access no longer exists... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Unique ids for each object
by Andy McKay 14 May '01

14 May '01

Alright so for my latest project Im thinking I need to implement a unique number on each Zope object that obeys certain rules. For example increments on an edit, doesnt on an import etc. Anyone tried that or can give me a clue where to stick it in? Somewhere in or just above the ZODB would be ideal... Cheers. -- Andy McKay.

Well, Rahsheen, what did you do to bring zope to this state? Is zope running behind Apache or a different proxy? Do you still have an acl_users folder in the Zope root? What are the current permissions settings for the root folder? Please give us more to work with than, "everything is all broke." Thanks. Log-In to View?
by Rahsheen Porter 14 May '01

14 May '01

Why is it that whenever I try to View anything I'm prompted to login? The permissions clearly allow anonymous access (even for the Root). Even a "successful" login with a valid user account is Unauthorized as far as Zope is concerned. What's going on? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
