2.3.2b1 bug? objectIds shows items, but hasattr doesn't, what gives?

I have a strange situation with Zope 2.3.2b1 I'm using Interbase to store information about manufacturers, products groups, products, product variations.. Each of these record types have a primary key (id), which is used to reference .jpg images in ZODB. For example, manufacturer One on 1 Design has a T-Shirt Group with 3 products. These product images would be stored in folders named as Images.one.oneclt.one101clt, Images.one.oneclt.one102clt and Images.one.oneclt.one103clt where "one" is the manufacturer id, "oneclt" is the product group id, and "one101clt" (etc) is the product id. This has been working well at http://www.adirondackcraft.com We recently moved to 2.3.2b1, and added some images. We have a dtml-method that walks the database looking for missing images. What's happening is that hasattr is not finding some of the Product folders, even though zope shows that they are there in the manage screen, objectIds shows them too. -- here's an example output of the report: Checking Group oneclt Contents of http://www.adirondackcraft.com/Holmes/Images/one/oneclt Object one101clt at Object one102clt at Object one103clt at Checking Product "Canoe" design T-shirt (Images.one.oneclt.one101clt) Call Found It Checking Product "Sit Back & Relax" design T-shirt (Images.one.oneclt.one103clt ) Call Failed Product Folder Images.one.oneclt.one103clt MISSING Checking Product "Trees" design T-shirt (Images.one.oneclt.one102clt ) Call Failed Product Folder Images.one.oneclt.one102clt MISSING Note that the objects one102clt, one103clt are shown in the objectlist, but hasattr fails to find these two folders (yet the one101clt folder is found). I've tried two tests, one by dtml-call on the object's id in a try statement, and the other with hasattr. Both fail the same. Also note that the object list shows blank space after "at", what's supposed to be here is the absolute_url of the folder. It's coming bank blank, but works on the parent folder. Apparently, you get an object with an "index_html" method that is not "None". In this case, ZPublisher calls the "index_html", adds an "base" tag and appends a '/' to the URL as it would be necessary for a folder. Dieter

I fear it will not be too easy. I looked at the code in "AccessControl.Permission". It is not easy. It would take me some time to understand what happens there. If you are lucky, then all base information is contained in declarations of the form: _<mangled_permission_name>_Permission= <role tuple> If I had your problem, I would use "ZopeFind" to locate all objects, look at all permission declarations that have the form above and remove the role to be deleted. As mentioned, permission mapping information may be hidden in other attributes, too. Then the algorithm above would not be complete. Dieter

changing ownership

Hi guys ! does anyone knows how tho change / setting the ownership of an Object with python or with DTML !! This zope instance has this and one other site running on it. Both are in sub-folders off the root and are using SiteRoot and proxy pass for the root urls. The other site has a working MailHost, I cannot to this point add another, to any level without getting this error. I looked in the code and found that the manage_addMailHost method exists, which I expected. I tried different mailservers, ports, etc. trying to get a different error but to no avail. a LOT of users and roles

Hi there, i need some hints about security with a large number of users and roles. We will have a lot of pages that are within 100 - 200 categorys. Any one of 5000 users will have the right to access documents within any combination of those categorys. Defining 200 roles doesn't seem right, because the security-tab would become huge. Does anybody know a better alternative? My idea was to create a new security-tab that is simpler. There will also have about 50 000 users that will be able to customize the site. There are products to sync a folder to a userfolder, but i don't know how zope handles that many objects within one folder. The other option would be to use a database aware userfolder and store any other info into the database too. Any comments? Thank you in advance Nils Decker

Translator/render() strangeness

I just tried to use Translator in 2.3.1 for the first time. It behaves strange when I use <dtml-lvar some_image>, and it seems to hinge on something in DT_Util.render(): def render(self, v): "Render an object in the way done by the 'name' attribute" if hasattr(v, '__render_with_namespace__'): v = v.__render_with_namespace__(self) else: vbase = getattr(v, 'aq_base', v) if callable(vbase): if getattr(vbase, 'isDocTemp', 0): v = v(None, self) else: v = v() return v When I use <dtml-lvar some_image>, the image is eventually passed to render() by Translator/LocalizeTag. Some print statements reveal in this case: type(v) = <extension class Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper at 40201e60> callable(v) = 1 type(vbase) = <extension class OFS.Image.Image at 85acac0> callable(vbase) = 1 So render calls the line "v = v()". Catalog and Core Session Tracking Updaters

Hi, Would anyone be interested in an external method which updates all the ZCatalogs in a ZODB to use the new BTrees? Likewise for CST 0.7 to CST 0.8? Problems with 2.3.1?

Has anyone had any trouble with 2.3.1 crashing? I'm running mine on a Mandrake 7.0 i386 linux box and it seems to be crashing every couple of days.
